This is from GTA5Cheats.com "You can enter cheats when in the pause menu. All you need to do is bring up the pause menu, enter the cheat code (as below) and then press start to register the code." To me that means press the pause button in the center of the PS3 controller, enter the sequence, and then press the start button. Am I missing something here?

You mean the button with the big 'P' on it? That's not the pause button, you press start to pause the game.

It's still not working. Let's go through this button by button, if you don't mind. Let's say I want to enter the Super Jump cheat. So I would press "Start, Left, Left, Triangle, Triangle, Right, Right, Left, Right, Square, R1, R2, Start" Is this correct? And another problem is being in this map/pause screen, if the cheat contains a circle, like the spawn buzzard does, as soon as you hit circle, it throws you back to the game screen. I'm probably missng something very simple here, but I don't know what it is.

Thank you so much. The triangle to make the map disappear was what I was missing. I'll try that when I get home.

I don't cheat often enough for this to really bother me, but think about this: If the time limit was 60 minutes, would we be having this conversation? But think about this too: maybe R* doesn't want you to use the invincibility cheat. they figured that only the people who REALLY want to be invincible would go through the trouble of entering it every 5 minutes, while the rest play the game without it like they intended.

Like I said before, Is it inconvenient? Yes

Is it enough to change my opinion of the overall game? No

I don't see the logic of including such a feature in the game if you don't want people to use it. And where does R* get off telling us how to play their game? What if I just want to shoot important characters (I wanted to shoot Chop so bad on the first mission)? What if I don't care to play missions and I just want to run around and kill people? What if I don't even want to play story at all and just bought the game for online?

Not saying that is my intent, but it just seems silly to me. They crafted an experience but the player is by no means confined to that. Once they purchase the game they can do what they want with it. That's just the way I see it.

You contradict yourself.

You sure as hell can do whatever you like with it, but it sure is hell confined to the game and experience they created.

If you want it any different, you must mod their game/experience, which is why PC is popular - Players get to create the experience.

As long as I can type the cheat in the pause menu, idgaf.

but we can't use the cheats during the missions. Everyone on these forums should give a f*ck!!

Actually I didn't contradict myself. The experience they crafted is more the story and missions and all that. Yes the game itself was crafted, but again why include features that you DON'T want people to use? Like if I make a puzzle game and I don't want people to be able to shoot guns I won't include guns in the game. If they didn't want people to play with cheats they shouldn't put them in the game to begin with.

i think it was used as something to practice with

like, a hail mary in a gunfight

i used it against the cops and it def allowed me to make some moves i would have never been able to make otherwise

my only thing is that i wish there was a separate cheat that had one on a timer and one was unlimited just so i can f*ck around for a few hours

Silent Dogwood

Ten bucks we see some Undead Nightmare style DLC in which case we won't need invincibility. Get to a vantage point and have fun wailing on zombies.

But with the whole alien motif in the game, maybe they're gonna steer us in that direction, which would be a welcome change.

Ultimately however, I agree with the general concensus that the timer is bullsh*t. I love Rockstar but I can't praise every move they make. While GTA V is an excellent game, there's some minor things (like this) which don't detract from the overall experience, but are enough to piss you off.

Don't know if this was mentioned but if it was ignore my post;

I always wondered why the hell its so hard to walk around in the fort zacundo airbase..

So i walked in about 10 times with no cheats on trying to steal a tank....

Just wasnt happening lol...

So i fiddled around with this invincibility cheat and was like .....wait...what only 5 minutes?!

I'm 90% sure after i typed the cheat in the tanks from there......basically vanished?

There was NO TANKS in the entire area.

That was weird too me.

Fort Zacundo has literally unlimited respawning tanks you don't stand a chance staying in Zacundo without cheats. And nothing in Zacundo appears until you get near it.

If people that played the game without cheats had to enter a code to stay alive every 5 minutes to play the game like they wanted, you bet your asses they would have 12 threads on it about how it sucks. I didn't play IV for the missions or trophies, I hate trophies on any game, I bought IV because I liked 3 and 2 and SA and the ability to play the game THE WAY I WANTED TO. I bought 5 hoping they made the experience better than it's predecessors, sadly they did not. They failed us that are on the other side of that coin. Using cheats the way they have it set up now with disabling stuff after you use a cheat has zero effect on any other player BUT THE ONE USING THE CHEAT! I didn't even buy this version to play missions, I am still planning the first heist and I got the game at the midnight release! I bought it to screw around in, just like the other versions.

I see both sides of this debate, however, one would think they would try and make both gamer types happy. This timer bullsh*t seriously is a total waste of coding. There is no conspiracy on it, they put it in, plain and simple, they can take the tiemr out as well, plain and simple, called a 36KB update, V1.03 and make both sides happy. The cheats have no bearing on non cheat code users, hell, you cannot even do a mission with a cheat on, so really, the cheats are for free roamers such as myself you are smart enough not to do this sh*t in real life, so we enjoy doing it in a fictional setting. Those of you who don't want the cheats, and do not use them, congratulations to you for being +1 on the ones who do use them, but you need to understand, they way they set this up this time, you cannot progress in the game using the cheat system, thus we are no competition to those of you who are doing it legit. I do not bitch about you playing it straight and narrow do I? Does anyone bitch about any of you NOT using cheats? Hell no! Us "cheaters" are not effecting you purists so really, you have not one leg to stand on in this thread. This thread is mainly for us cheat code users who want to free roam any way we want to, that includes invincibility!

Just one old farts opinion, but I have been playing these videa games longer than most of you have been alive, and to be honest, it is refreshing to playa game twice, IE: play the game legit and pure, then go back through and cause mayhem, I like to do the opposite, I want to cause mayhem, get good at the controls and be comfortable with the gameplay BEFORE I actually waste my time playing missions (see, I really hate missions!)

At any rate, to each their own, and a cheer to all of you, this is just my rant, i have many many others about this pathetic version, but they will be off topic and I am sure there are others who have made a thread about the very things that make me want to break this disc right in front of every R* programmers face, so I will continue to go back into lurking to find these threads. I must say, this 5 page read was great info, but alas, I honestly do not think it will do any good. Perhaps a FB page could be created to organize disgruntled patrons of this episode so that the R* FB page can be totally clear on our complaints. If you do make one, please do us all a favor and not name it something childish like R* sucks ass or something. Let's all handle this as much as adults as we can and perhaps they will actually listen and take the timer off. That is all we want right?

I for one think the cheat works the way it does to stop the eventual modding of the game. It became a HUGE problem in the later online of RDR to come across invulnerable opponents using ISO dicks and really shows rockstar thinking ahead of the game now even if someone flashes their system and allows cheats in multiplayer(even one the "bad sport servers" the people they set out to grief now stand a fighting chance. It is annoying yes but I think they did it for a better reason than "lets make people suffer"

But, the cheats do not work online, right? And a timer will easily be bypassed if you are modding the coding.

It would be nice if the timer started green so you could have an indication how long is left without having to look directly at it

Personally, I don't like it, but I can deal with it. I rarely need invincibility for any longer than 5 minutes anyway. I'll be using this cheat to walk my ass right through the front door of Fort Zancudo and take whatever vehicle I damn please. That will probably take 90 seconds. So by the time the cheat expires, I'll already be taxing my C-130 into my hangar at LAX. And I rarely spend more than 5 minutes in any gang-infested area where i run the risk of being ambushed by gangbanger pricks for no good reason.

Generally, I think Rockstar intentionally made it harder to cheat for a reason. They want people to play normally and challenge themselves. It's arguable that it isn't their place to decide how people should play the game, but in the end, no amount of complaining will do anything about it. I hate button cheats and actually prefer the speed dial system from IV, but I'm not holding my breath that they'll ever add it into GTA 5, so I don't bother whining. It's a waste of time. Life is too short to spend on futile complaints over the structure of GTA 5's cheat system.

The majority of the people AWARE of the issue are upset. And the forums is the majority that represents and expresses that issue.

And next people I'm sure they will change it unless they want to be big assholes and cause a spark of more people to complain about it and why the hell would a company put a cheat and remove it that just makes you teasing people causing you to be some of the biggest assholes on the planet. This is an issue since it causes more problems then it solves.

"Biggest assholes on the planet."

Really? Because of a cheat code in a video game not working the way you want? This is what I mean about perspective...

I f*cking died when he called them the biggest assholes on the planet. Oh my.

And I hate commenting on this sh*t because it makes me just as bad as the rest of you, but this particular topic is ridiculous. Cheats aren't necessary, for one. They don't have to be in the game in the first place. You people who actually like and use cheats, should be grateful that they even included them in the first place. They don't need to include cheats at all to sell their game, it's for the ten year old gamers who can't live without them. This is an excellent game that is part of an excellent series made by an excellent company. And if you all are going to bitch and whine because of a cheat code that only allows you to be a pussy for a limited amount of time, then I hope you trade in your copies so I don't have to meet any of you online.
