Invincibility Time Limit Discussion

Some people hate it. Me? I love the time limit! It keeps you on edge when you're on a 5-star cop rampage, and it sets your problem-solving and planning skills into overdrive. You have about five minutes to cause as much mayhem as you can before you're mortal again; then you scramble to put the code in as legions of law enforcement pepper your barricade of a dumpster and that wrecked Phantom you stole.

You can say "Oh it doesn't bother me, you guys are ungrateful" or you can say "Wow this is stupid, Rockstar sucks".

The fact of the matter is that the cheat codes already have a catch. They stop you from earning trophies and achievements, so what is the point of having another catch? The only purpose it serves is to be an annoyance to the player. There is literally no other reason.

Talk all you want about how you love the time limit because in reality you don't, unless you belong in an insane asylum because you like unnecessary annoyances.

Here's something to think about: How would you feel if one of the vehicle spawn cheats had a time limit? You spawn in a heli but after 5 minutes it will automatically disappear whether you are flying it or not. Pointless right? Same goes for this cheat.

My issue with this one is that it takes away from the experience I wanted when it comes to playing with cheats in a grand theft auto game, instead of being able to really enjoy it and caues chaos from one end of the map to other without issue, I seem to spend more time watching the countdown than I do actually enjoying an unstoppable rampage, and having to stop or pause to reenter the cheat when it expires breaks the flow of things, whoever decided it was a good idea to limit it wasn't thinking straight imo.

whoever decided to add the time limite should seriously jump of a bridge, I'm serious. You can't even use the cheat in missions -_-. Instead of 5 friggin minutes, they could've made it 30 minutes or even 60 minutes. F*ck those idiots and there dumbass company. I miss the old gta style

Snake Without a Tongue

I don't like it, but it's not a deal breaker. I just can't believe anyone would think -- "fine, here's a cheat, but we'll limit the cheat." Like, here's unlimited money, but you can only spend five bucks at a time. Cheats is cheats, R*.

Free roam in SP sucks all around. It really feels like they're pushing campaign as an intro to online. Like every other game out there. It defeats the uniqueness of GTA.

The game in itself is amazing, though, so...

Yeah, it's f*cking stupid and no use for the 5 minute timer, as stated many times in this thread supported with various sufficient facts. I think we should all band together and send messages to rockstar via their email or twitter feed, we all know what happened to Microsoft when they tried to pull that xbox one drm bullsh*t and now we can do the same with them ruining cheat codes. They keep asking themselves what made San Andreas so good and as to why many still play it to this day... well hello? The amazing set of cheat codes ring a bell? Anyway, we should contact Rockstar until we get some sort of answer, hopefully even a fix.

I agree with you. I think contacting dumb rockstar is a waiste of time. Any company that think it's a good idea to put 5 minutes on an invincibility cheat and think it's *funny* can seriously go f*ck themselves and die.

Everyone calm down.. no need to be so aggressive, it's something, also keep in mind there "may" be a way to extend the timer.
So far we at GTA5Cheats have found two variations of Health and Armor and Super Jump.

I appreciate all the hard work you guys have done and doing. We can't even use the cheat during missions..... the whole point cheats is to have during the missions. I like killing the bad guys with style. there's no point of a timer

I don't agree about the missions part, I personally think cheats have been more of a free roam thing in this series, either way as sucky as it is, I wouldn't wish anyone at R* dead over it, not that big of a deal

I believe that cheats should only be used once the game is beaten like Ratchet and Clank does. Or in free roam.

I agree with you, granted I admit I used the Lower Wanted level for the last mission lol

Say Inf Health for example "the second code doesn't work, it's just one of the button sequences I tried"

Invincibility 5 minute timer: Right, X, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, X, Triangle

Invincibility X minute timer: Left, Triangle, Left, Right, Right, R1, Right, Left, X, Triangle "Not real, again just another button sequence I tried"

Well two sequences have been confirmed for Super Jump and Health & Armor

So you know there are two sequences for those cheats but you don't know what they are? How do you know?

We know what they are.. That's what I'm trying to say as to why we believe we may be able to find an extended timer.

I believe I said "Well two sequences have been confirmed for Super Jump and Health & Armor"

Here is my take on the time limit.

At first I had the knee jerk reaction most people are displaying. But after I, thought about it, I understand why they did this.

Without the time limit at least 50% of people would never play without the cheat. The cheat would give less incentive to actually play the game how it was intended. You could just plow through all the missions in a day and be left with a watered down version of what they wanted you to enjoy.

It would be almost as bad as an infinite money cheat. It would totally kill all the hard work they put into the game like stock markets, robberies, and other side missions. Why would anyone try to earn money when a few button presses gives you an infinite amount.

And at the end of the day the people who never played without these cheats would look back on GTA V and call it stale, without thinking about how they may have ruined the experience for themselves.

And dont give me the whole "I payed $60, so I should be able to play however I want." Thats just not how things work. It would be like going to a theater and demanding to see the ending of a movie before the rest of it. Just because you paid $18 doesnt mean you have the right to alter the experience that the director intended. Of course the studio isnt going to allow that, Its artistic suicide.

If you dont read anything I say fine, but read this:

Im so tired of the mentality of modern society. You guys realize you are bitching about a feature you didnt know existed 24 hours ago. I for one am really shocked that they included the god mode cheat, since its not like them to do that. But they compromised their own concerns about how it would affect the game negatively to give it to us in some form or fashion.

If this code didnt exist you would have nothing to be upset about. So take a break from the instant gratification entitlement you have been programmed to project and just enjoy the f*cking game.

No, you can't go into a theater and demand they show the ending first. But, what you can do is buy a DVD, pick a scene from scene selection, and go straight to the end. Hell, even VHS has fast forwarding.

As for playing how the developers intended, f*ck you and f*ck them. I bought it, I can play how I want. Just like when you buy a DVD, you can skip to the ending, and if you get food at a restaurant, you can return it if it doesn't satisfy you.

Yes, I would never play without the cheat on. Just like in vice city when I use action replay on it, or enable the standard many different cheats I do every time I start up san andreas. Hell, I almost always enable super jump in GTA V.

And I love it. Super jumping never gets old to me. Not everyone's brains function the same, dude. I like feeling like a super powered god. Yes, the time limit sucks. I don't want to have to keep turning the cheat back on. I'd rather it be eternal so I can go around blowing stuff up forever. And then if I want to stop, I can disable the cheat and commit suicide. The time limit doesn't really make sense.

Try activating slow motion aim to level 3 then start invincibility and it seemed to me that 5 minutes lasted a long time cuz I was nailing headshot after headshot in super slo mo. I was thinking my 5 was just about up and I looked and it still had 2 minutes+ on the timer. Also fast run and super jump are fun to use in combo with invincibility and slo mo aiming.

The pause thing doesn't work for me. As I understand it, you push the pause button in the center of the controller. Enter the cheat code. And hit the start button. I just wind up in the Play station column at the sign in button. Nothing.

That's because you're supposed to push the start button, not the middle button that just takes you to each console's respective guide.

Start button. It probably has the word start next to it. It opens the map. Try that.

Reading through this thread I was surprised to find that this time-limit was related to a conspiracy. That's just one big joke if you believe cheats in this game are tied to money hording.

But I digress. I will have to admit I am very disappointed with the cheats they have provided for us. I was really looking forward to a game where I could commit all the carnage that I wished to. Where I could spawn a helicopter or plane anywhere I please.

The argument that the time-limit is to keep you in touch with how the game is supposed to be played is, in my opinion, just an excuse to accept the obvious flaws that come with denial of anything that could be wrong with this years biggest release. Being an unstoppable murdering machine was always a part of the fun for me, the freedom to do WHATEVER I had felt like was the franchises biggest charm to me. Now that they created this massive world with all of these possibilities, why wouldn't they allow you to conveniently use any cheat that has the option to be toggled on and off?

As I read earlier, having that option to easily turn specific cheats on and off would be a win-win. I don't see any logical reason why they would restrain us. They are already swimming in cash and an orthodox online feature doesn't have anything to do with the single-player experience. As far as the stats for R* Social Club? I wouldn't know. Honestly if cheats disabled trophies then they certainly could disable any submission to leader boards.

This whole time-limit certainly does not make me want to convert my game into a paper weight, but there definitely is disappointment. I'm aware R* worked very hard on this game. This game is a huge achievement in the gaming industry, but that's precisely why I feel disappointed. Maybe it's our fault, or my own, for building up such high anticipation for this game. Maybe we should give it time, and if not time, then we should just adapt. This is a very brilliant game, cheats or not, we all will have countless hours poured into it.

So what's your point?

Although the post-game completion experience that is typically filled with cheats has been relatively stunned, this isn't the end of the fun and thrills this game promises. Disappointed? Yes. Experience ruining? Eh.. no. I still have fun even at the expense of losing 5,000 every ten minutes, but that just leads to going out and finding more money, and that in the end is more game play hours. Everything about these flawed cheats just lead to more game play hours, and we all should be content with that.

This is from GTA5Cheats.com "You can enter cheats when in the pause menu. All you need to do is bring up the pause menu, enter the cheat code (as below) and then press start to register the code." To me that means press the pause button in the center of the PS3 controller, enter the sequence, and then press the start button. Am I missing something here?

Pause the game. Enter the cheat. Unpause the game by pressing star. It's that simple.

If it's not working, you're inputting the cheat wrong. Unless you're pressing the Ps3's home button instead of the game's menu.

That's exactly what I am doing. But it just leaves me in the online play station of the pause menu at the sign in button. And pressing the start button doesn't do anything. Maybe there needs to be a few missions done before it works. I am up the 7th mission or so.

I don't use cheats except after I complete the game to screw around, or if playing at a friends, and I usually only use the weather and spawn weapon cheats, but I don't see why they would include a time limit. Not complaining but it seems dumb to put in a cheat to make people invincible but only have it work for a set time.

One guy mentions it might be technical; that the game might crash after a certain point of being invincible which is possible. But if that's the case why not just have a cheat for health boosts and the like instead of just straight up invincibility? It just seems like a very weird decision from a developing standpoint. If it's buggy and not meant to be in the game normally why put it in? If it's not buggy what's the point of putting a time limit?

Again I don't really care either way, it just seems very strange to me.

I used action replay on a lot of my ps2 games back then :D. Gun was fun with action replay :D. I CHEAT AS WELL. i play my single player games how I want to play my games :)

You can take your time and enter cheats too by holding down LB (the weapon wheel, slows down time).. now while holding LB, enter the cheat combo.. and it will activate even though you're holding down LB.

This is great because you could be in an intense firefight, but it gives you time to input any cheat by holding down LB.. however if the cheat REQUIRES LB.. then its a different story.

Do you have a screenshot? Maybe then I can figure this out. Also, please try to learn a bit more english so it doesn't come out so jumbled. I'm not trying to be mean, but this is hard to understand.

If they don't want me to use it, then why put it in? And more importantly, who the hell knows what rockstar intended? Is it like jesus? Do we have rockstar priests that read from the rockstar bible to interpret their great teachings? Do we have rockstar clerics? Abbots? Rockstar popes?

I don't know what they intended, and neither do you. But I really don't think invincibility should have a time limit. While it doesn't break the game, it does seem like a very strange and illogical change.
