At first I had the knee jerk reaction most people are displaying. But after I, thought about it, I understand why they did this.

 

Without the time limit at least 50% of people would never play without the cheat. The cheat would give less incentive to actually play the game how it was intended. You could just plow through all the missions in a day and be left with a watered down version of what they wanted you to enjoy.

 

The game doesn't allow you to use cheats during missions.

The cheat is fine, but the timelimit is lame. If you don't like cheats, that's fine.

 

I have destroyed GTA: V. I have 100%, all achievements, all gold medals on EVERYTHING. The game is finished for me. What I like to do with games that usually offer cheats, is mess around.

 

In GTA: SA, I used to enjoy the Riot cheat with Lock Wanted Level and Infinite Health. Why? Because it was fun.

 

Luckily Rockstar went ahead with the infinite health cheat, which I didn't expect pre-release.

 

Sadly, it's 5 minute limited. Which may not be a big deal to some people, but I am rather annoyed and disappointed by that, let me explain.

 

The most enjoyment (for me) in a GTA game is to mess around and cause mayhem without consequences. This is usually done via cheating.

 

SideNote: I don't use cheats when playing story or going for chevos

 

Once the game is done, there really isn't a lot to do other than multiplayer and replaying missions. Cheats make up for that.

 

Going to the military base and causing mayhem without the worry of death is FUN! Throwing myself down Mt. Chillad is pathetic FUN! Running super fast into an oncoming tractor trailer is FUN. Being paranoid about a timer is NOT fun.

 

I'm not going to roll over a die over this, but I will remain annoyed and disappointed. I feel like the timer is a tease. It takes from the fun and point of infinite health.

 

 

 

If you don't mind entering the cheat 12 times per hour great, but it takes away from the experience and I'm sure lots would agree.

 

If Rockstar removes the timer, who does it hurt? Nobody. It won't effect people who don't use cheats, It won't effect people who don't care either way, and it will make people who do enjoy the cheat happier.

 

Can somebody point out a negative to that? I honestly don't see it.

To everyone who is talking about Rockstar spending hundreds of millions to make this game possible:

 

They made (if I'm correct) over a billion dollars profit already. The cost of the game makes no difference now.

 

Without gamers (including ones who like to cheat) Rockstar would be sitting on millions of unsold copies. We make the game possible just as much as the Rockstar employees.

 

There is no argument in how much a game cost to make. It makes no difference when it comes to cheats.

And at the end of the day the people who never played without these cheats would look back on GTA V and call it stale, without thinking about how they may have ruined the experience for themselves.

 

And dont give me the whole "I payed $60, so I should be able to play however I want." Thats just not how things work. It would be like going to a theater and demanding to see the ending of a movie before the rest of it. Just because you paid $18 doesnt mean you have the right to alter the experience that the director intended. Of course the studio isnt going to allow that, Its artistic suicide.

A compromise to the code is to start using the decrease wanted level cheat when you have a minute or so left on your timer. How do you enter it in pause mode btw? It doesn't work for me when I enter it in pause mode.

Pause the game and the press triangle to make the map disappear. That always works for me, i had some problems getting it to work with the map on screen.

First time post, long time lurker.

 

Another way to avoid getting slaughtered when you Invincibility time limit expires is to pull off your rampage as Trevor. As soon as that timer comes off the screen, hit his ability and input the cheat while his ability acts as a temporary Invincibility until you replenish the timer.

 

I'm disappointed that the code needs a time limit, I was looking forward to SanAndreas level rampages, oh well. It's not the end of the world.

Hi, I am a Disabled gamer, I need invincibility, as my hands don't work well, so typing/pressing in that code via a controller, once is bad enough, but having to redo it every 5 minutes is near impossible for me.

I don't think ANYONE who would choose to use the invincibility cheat would wish it to be timed. If people have had enough of the cheat then they can disable it whenever.

 

Imposing a 5 minute limit is just mean.

 

The reason won't be technical. If it was then the time would vary depending on other factors. We could enable the cheat and then never really use it, but it's still limited to 5 minutes. If it was a way of reclaiming resources then the time would vary depending on how bogged down the system got.

 

 

 

No I expect people to understand that Rockstar North has never included an unlimited invincibility cheat in any of their games. They either don't include or they limit it. That's how they have always done it. that's probably how they will continue to do it.

I never even bothered to do this as I found the easiest way to enjoy this cheat is with trevor. Simply activate his special whenever you need to input the cheat, that way you wont die re-entering it.
