AngelKing4t7
So, I've been playing (and thoroughly enjoying) GTA V for a while now, and I have a few general gameplay and mechanics questions that I haven't been able to find definitive answers to. If you know the answers to any of these, or have relevant information about them, I would appreciate your input. 1) I remember hearing someone say that competing in races is a quick way to earn some money. I've completed a random smattering of races, mostly in the ATV/Offroad and Watercraft categories, but I haven't seen Franklin earn any extra income despite placing first in every race I've competed in. Do you only get cash rewards for doing the nighttime street races in the city? Also, is Franklin the only one who can compete in these races, or can Trevor and Michael get in on the action too? Franklin is actually the character who has the most money for me at the moment lol 2) Do motorcycle helmets actually do anything? I almost always take the time to stop and put my helmet on when adventuring on two wheels, but it's not always feasible when you're trying to make a quick getaway. My question is... does letting your character equip the helmet actually have any impact on the damage you take from falling off the bike at high speeds? If so, is it only effective in preventing you from insta-death upon hitting an obstacle head-first, or is it like the body armor in that it's just an all-around health boost? What about headshot protection? It is a helmet, after all... 3) Is there any way to steal and/or derail trains? After first unlocking the sticky bombs, I spent probably an hour and a half (plus a considerable amount of money spent on sticky bombs) trying to steal a tanker truck, strap it up with bombs, and leave it on the train tracks to derail the train when it came around. After repeatedly failing for numerous other reasons (killed by angry bikers, shot by the cops, hit by the train, ran over by overenthusiastic truck drivers, and just plain tripping and falling face-first down Mt. Chiliad) I finally managed to orchestrate the spectacle perfectly... and nothing happened. The train hit the tanker, pushed it out of the way, and continued on as if it had been no more than a pesky cow loitering on the tracks. One of the few times I've been disappointed while playing this game. 4) Are there any more melee weapons beyond the knife, baseball bat, golf club, and nightstick? I'm hoping for something else bladed, like maybe a machete or an axe, so I can really embrace Trevor's "slasher villain" image (I keep him decked out in a red flannel shirt with urban camo cargo pants and the white hockey mask. It's great to see him standing in the lobby of the police station, covered in blood and bullet holes, calmly enjoying a can of soda and then waltzing out the front door with his AK, right past all the cops. Nobody bats an eye.) 5) Can you rob Ponsonbys? I've tried shooting the "register" like you would at other clothing stores, but it looks more like a computer than a cash register, and shooting it does nothing. Do you have to hold it up like one of the convenience stores, and make the clerk hand over the cash? Or do they just not deal in cash cause they are all uppity and posh and their clientele all pay with credit cards? 6) Is there a way to choose "no shirt" as an option in your wardrobe? I ended up in a random event that lead to Trevor standing in the desert in his underwear, and decided to re-equip his pants but not his shirt. I then proceeded to walk down to the nearest cop shop and stand around letting them admire my "f*ck cops" stomach tattoo. I'd like to be able to let Franklin show off some of his tattoos, but I can't for the life of me find a clothing option for "no [item]" other than in the hats and glasses categories. 7) I read something in a guide or maybe a forum post that Trevor has unique melee attack while in his special berserk mode... is this true? I haven't noticed any difference in his animations, with either melee weapons or bare hands. Do you have to actually engage someone in fisticuffs, like, so they are trying to punch you as well? I've always only tried it when getting swarmed by cops with a high wanted level. cjspeed
1) Don't know i'm afraid. 2) Again, don't know for sure. I'd like to think they do but i've never really noticed a reduction in damage taken when falling off a bike with a helmet on as apposed to without. 3) You can't steal a train, unfortunately. I don't know whether or not they can be derailed by something like an explosion or maybe even a t-bone from a plane. 4) There is also a Hammer and a Crowbar. Nothing Machete-like, which i assume is what you were hoping for. 5) No. None of the stores that you can purchase items from are rob-able. Only random convenience/liquor stores spread across the map can be held up. 6) No. You can become shirtless with Trevor if/when you switch to him and he's decided to remove his clothes. In which case you just re-dress his feet, legs and head if you wish. 7) I've never engaged in a fight with his ability activated, so i couldn't tell you. There are certain animations when countering which could probably differ, but without trying it i couldn't confirm. Hope that was somewhat helpful to you Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/604985-unanswered-questions-so-far/#findComment-1063491040 Share on other sites

I'm gonna go back and edit my OP to add in the numbers for ease of understanding. #4) I know the hammer was supposedly a special preorder bonus or something, so I know I can't get that one... where do you find the crowbar? The more the merrier #5) Are you sure about that? I've robbed AmmuNation, Binco, and SubUrban hundreds of times each. You don't do it like the convenience store holdups, but you can still threaten the cashier with a gun and then run in and shoot the registers to loot all the cash. It's pretty much my primary means of income, since nobody wants to pay me for my goddamn heists! Seriously, this seems outrageous to me that I've made it as far as the mission where Michael and Trevor get recruited to shoot down a plane with some guy's cousin on it, so the cousin can't testify against him in court and I haven't had a major payout since the first heist. Franklin has been voicing his concerns on the matter the whole time, and even Trevor has gotten a little fed up with the "work now, pay later" scheme, as evidenced by the fact that he kidnapped this dude's wife when the guy wouldn't pay up. Michael, however, appears to be content knocking over f*ckin liquor stores every other day to pay for his medical bills while he pals around with multimillionaires doing their dirty work and not getting paid. cjspeed
Well, i meant in terms of him putting the cash into a bag and giving it to you. Any cash register is shootable and dispenses money upon shooting (or atleast should). Even in the convenience stores you can hold up - Some have two cash registers, the cashier will only give you money from the first register, but shooting the second one gives you more. As for the crowbar, personally i have no idea how to obtain it. I just know that it exists because i own the strategy guide and it's in there. Ash'R9k.
You can find the crowbar at the closest LSCustoms to M's house, on some stairs near the entrance Edited September 27, 2013 by Ash'R9k.
