I can answer this; I've done this very thing. Anyway, in order for Trevor to NOT get a wanted level, you have to be hanging out with him ala GTA IV style with Michael or Franklin or whoever owns a hanger at LSX. In other words, after you call Trevor to hang out with you and pick him up, you can (as Michael or Franklin) go onto the tarmac with Trevor as a follower, but that's the only instance I know of Trevor not getting a wanted level. You can not switch to him when hanging out either. Trevor can own the McKenzie Airfield already, so he is unable to buy a hangar at LSX. I hope this answers your question!
