If anybody has ever watched The Wire then you'll know this guy;

tumblr_lqq0pp4CDQ1qbvaudo3_250.gif

If not then he basically steals a hell of a lot of drugs/money from gangsters in Baltimore, now I'm wondering if the game will be 'shoot first ask questions later' or if there'll be a way if chosen to steal from other players wihtout shooting a round.

I'm thinking this type of gameplay will only be on the PC in roleplay servers though..

It wouldn't work. It sounds good in theory, but if you pulled a gun on another player, you're getting shot at. That's the nature of an online game. The one thing they'll never be able to recreate is fear.

DerangedDisaster

It could be possible, RP or not from my point of view. When you get killed you drop the money you have on you. You could possibly go for something like half of their money, since there is a money trading system, and threaten to kill them if they don't comply but that would be entirely up to the player. They could just try to make a run for it or try to kill you but considering that the animations while switching/pulling out weapons are quite fast there would be some kind of trouble with it. Especially if he pulled out a shotgun in point blank.

In the beginning of Dayz you'd get highway bandits, who'd rob you and leave you with nothing but the clothes on your back. It's possible, most definitely.

There's two issues with this comparison. Number one, the highway bandits were mostly RP. What I mean is, they couldn't see what was in your inventory. They knew what gun was in your hand and what you wore. Other than that, they had to ask you, which could lead to a simple "I have nothing else" answer. Once again, the player could have simply shot back, but they decided not to because they were RPing to the situation.. they weren't actually afraid of the bullet.

Secondly, and most importantly, GTA isn't DayZ. I don't mean that in a condescending way toward DayZ. What I mean is, DayZ runs on the premise that if you die you come back with nothing. GTA does not. I keep all my guns, cars, and my house if I die in GTA. So why do I care if you kill me?
