As soon as you start having fun, you die or are forced to stop

bicycles?
 Share

Recommended Posts

I just played for around fifteen minutes. Probably less.

I went from running around thinking of what to do, to swerving a car around, to riding a motorcycle.

I just started getting into the mode of turns and smooth landings, when I jumped from a high peak, to a low hillside road. And died. Just started having fun, and died.

If convertibles with their top down can roll around/flip over on their back like turtles without visibly damaging the car or driver, I should be able to land a f*cking big smooth jump from a mountain to a downhill road.

They've had a decade to get bikes right... and nothing

the game is still paused in the other room. I got up and away from it to post this.

Lmfao no you got up to make another post and to cry some more. And I love how you dislike this game soooooo much yet you're still playing it this very second. Omg get this guy out of here already. Go get a new box of tissues

I'm talking about freeplay fun, not missions or aesthetic crap like car/clothes upgrades or watching the in-game entertainment.

The cars handle more like bikes in the air than bicycles do. I have zero motivation or interest to drive anywhere in the game if it's more than a few blocks away, or if I'm near wilderness...

So hitting jumps in cars is fun, but if it's not a designated stunt jump they flip through the air like skateboards and after 1-3 crashes they all but stop rolling.

Ok, the bicycles can be fun too, but you die after one good crash, or 2-4 regular ones. You die if you stumble off of something that's 'too high,' which is easy, because the controls are f*cking terrible. Spend an hour finding something fun to ride, spend 30 seconds on it, die, and you're back at the hospital with $5000 less. This isn't fun, and most of it isn't at all realistic. The controls also make it easy to bump into pedestrians, which means wanted level, which means stopping what you're doing [having fun] to run/hide for a few minutes.

The police chases are fun so long as you can keep moving or find cover. Too bad there's no crouch button, you can only cover on predesignated objects, and the cars are stopped in their tracks or damaged beyond driving so easily. The omnipresent police aren't fun either.

So many more examples, so many threads like this... yet people are still praising it as a perfect, 10/10 masterpiece. BS.

I'm not going to take the game back to gamestop for a fraction of what I paid for it, and I'm certainly never going to connect to psn or any of rockstar's online services...

I guess I'm just out 60 bucks. It's just so disheartening seeing people defend the company...

I stopped reading at that point ^

When people realize that this is a VIDEO GAME and is no way reflected in realistic situations, then and only then will your opinions be valid.

You've gotta laugh at the retards who come onto the forum and cry about anything and everything but then have the cheek to throw in the word "realistic" as if they know what they're talking about.

So you come on the forums, make yet ANOTHER post which can be seen countless times with a click of a mouse, sit there and type up a storm sharing the reasons why you think it's no fun and then say you're not even going to trade it in. Where the f*ck is your logic?

If you want realism, go outside instead of sitting on the Internet posting ridiculous threads while people laugh at you.

You're criticising me for not returning it for a fraction of what I paid?

That wasn't criticizing, it was a full on factual statement.

If you're NOT happy with the product, then take it back. If it's THAT much of a problem you won't mind getting the "fraction" of the price originally paid for it. Let's face it though, like someone else has pointed out already. You bitch and moan and yet continue to play the game.

You know that logic I mentioned earlier?... yeah.

It's simple and clear, you're just milking it now. I'm a new comer to these forums and already I've seen countless threads posted by you rambling on about sh*t people already know about. It won't get things done any quicker.

I had a lapdance and them tits just didnt seem real to me,rockstar you suck! FFS.... people moaning about games being unrealistic need to get out more. Its the same kinda people who say COD is sh*t and how BF is "realistic"... yeah right....cos in real life leaves are well known to block bullets. In fact a few mates who served in Afghan were telling me they felt vulnerable out there due to the lack of leaves to shield them. ... C'mon now people. Its a G-A-M-E. A good one at that and im no fanboy. But i can recognise greatness even with a few faults

Dont get me wrong iv had a little bitch about the GTAV textures, the lag even....but for being unrealistic? Can anyone actually point me in the direction of a 100% realistic game cos i must have been buying my games from the wrong store all this time.

The point is that they force realism where it isn't fun and take it away from where it would be. I'm not complaining about the game being 'too realistic,' I'm complaining about huge tracts of it not being fun

That'll is a perfectly acceptable contraction when used on an informal forum. I can relate to some grammar nazis, but now you're just getting nitpicky for the sake of it.

On topic, yes it has been mentioned over and over, but I will agree with you on two points:

1. Becoming wanted and the apparition of police forces is completely broken. There is nothing wrong with the difficulty.

2. Why the **** can we not crouch at will? One of the dumbest control decisions I've ever heard of.

I can drive like a pro

I should hope so, its super f*cking easy, A semi retarded chimp could drive like a pro in this game, lol! The cops are easy to get away from, maybe even too easy. However the fun part of GTA games are not getting away from the cops and hiding in a bush for 5 minutes or watching the cones on the mini map and turning a corner when the next cop spawns in front of you on the road you are on and waiting for the star to go away, the fun part is driving around in different cars that drive differently and actually get damaged when you crash so you have to jack another one and leading the police on high speed chases and having long firefights with them across the whole map for 20 minutes or however long you want. Maybe you will figure it out when you hit puberty.

^ This.

Thank God I didn't pre-order this for PS3. I will only probably but this game for PC if the physics is tweaked to a more acceptable manner.

Dear OP,

How many hours have you racked up complaining about the game...er...I mean playing the game....
Now, take that time and divide it by 60. Once you are done, please show me a form of entertainment that you can partake in that charges money but is cheaper per hour then video games usually run.

Example: I have well over 80 hours already plugged in, and I work a full time job. I paid sixtyfour dollars and seventy-nine cents for my copy. That comes out to about eightyone cents per hour of play. That is very friggin cheap. A movie costs me around nine dollars for two hours of entertaintment or four dollars and fifty cents an hour. That comes to a fivehundred sixtytwo point five percent increase in cost per hour of entertainment. Now assuming you spent near the same ammount and you went and sold it for ten dollars at Gamestop, even if you only played for 30 hours, you would still have only paid one dollar and eighythree cents per hour. I would say you still got a bargain.....

Is it realistic for regular police officers to carry an RPG around? Is it realistic for one to be able to maneuver your vehicle in midair? f*cking duh. Maybe you (and some others) like elements like this or could care less, but there's people that actually f*cking care.

You are wrong and your logic is invalid.

Translation: Everyone is wrong and I am right.

Just because you suck at the game doesn't mean the game sucks. I can drive like a pro, and my modded Comet slides just enough to make it interesting. I don't ride the bikes much, but if you're jumping off cliffs or buildings, yeah, you're gonna get hurt. I jumped off about a 20ft wall a little bit ago and only got hurt a tad, but hey, the controls suck, right? It's not player error or anything. $5000 isn't sh*t once you finish the story or own one or two businesses, and there are a lot of hospitals to spawn at. I've never had to stop what I'm doing to escape the police. One or two stars is easy to escape without hiding, you just have to run/ride/swim/drive/fly and avoid the cops for a minute. The "omni-present" police make sense considering it's a major city, and, once again, they are not hard to lose, even with four or five stars, as long as you've got a car or motorcycle and are not driving down major roads or the freeway. I wish there were a crouch button too, but the cover system works just fine for me. It's smart to move around and avoid staying in one place for too long, the police actually do start to surround you. Stay in one place too long and it is pretty much impossible to get out. It's almost like you have to be tactical about the police or something.

TLDR; Learn to play the game. I'd be the first to say that Grand Theft Auto V isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot more fun than you serial complainers and entitled crybabies make it out to be.

So you just admitted you don't even try to fight off the police. You just drive away or hide like a little bitch. Try actually playing GTA the way it's meant to be played & you'll see for yourself how bullsh*t the cops are in this game.

Time doesn't equal fun. I don't buy videogames for the sole purpose of sinking time into them, but to have fun with them. And this game punishes you for having fun and forces you to invest time. And they left out a ton of very basic/fun features that even their own other games had.

there's a genuine mental problem involved here with people acting like you're not allowed to criticize something you've paid for...

Of course theres room for realism in gaming,in fact it what games aspire too. But the only time i would critique a game for being unrealistic is when they label and package it as ~"the most realistic game ever". GTA tries to achieve a SENSE of realism but this game isnt about keepin it real. Its about running around doin whatever the f*ck you want, you know, like you cant do in real life. GTA is escapism at its finest. Anyone buying GTA and judging it on its realism has bought the wrong game.Thats just my opinion. As a customer R* give me what i want. Sure theres a LOT of stuff id LIKE but thats like the ungrateful brat who gets some cool sh*t for christmas but instead of being grateful his parents slaved night and day to try give him the best,he still whines and bitches about the sh*t he didnt get. If people want realism then go outdoors, thats my two pennies. Im one of those people "that actually f*cking care" but i dont care to critique a game for being unrealistic when they never claimed it was realistic. Its GTA, FFS. Dont get it twisted, the texture issues, lag and lack of interiors kinda is a downgrade to me in many ways. But as a standalone game it is good

I guess everyone has their own opinion. I loved the game but I admit there were some other features from previous GTA's that could have been added. As for the low health and driving/physics/police changes, I really like them. I don't tend to run into mailboxes that much  and the police are much better than past GTA's but are very aggressive which can be annoying if you don't want them on you. I love the new driving and physics mechanics and the controls are basically the same as GTA IV or RDR and they were fine for me although I hate aiming and shooting with R2 and L2 as the ps3 controller is a bit annoying with them. Overall its a really fun game and worth £40 in my opinion but all games have their flaws. Nobody can make the perfect game otherwise that company would never need to make another game again.

So, now what? That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. We won't be able to change your opinion. You saw the game, you didn't like it. Now you are disappointed. That's nobody's fault. Most of us are pretty satisfied.

Just live your life, man.

I'm not going to waste my time trying to debate an overly-emotional twat.

Moron, you can make your own opinions, but not your own facts. Just because YOU feel this way, doesn't mean we do.

Go cry somewhere else.

See, this is the biggest issue I have with GTA V critics. You hypocrites go "oh you fanboys think we aren't allowed to criticize the game" when the great irony is that you don't seem to want to allow us to DEFEND the game. You cry that we are trying to "force you" to like it, all the while trying to force US to NOT like it.

Because Gamestop is the only place you can sell your games at. You want your money so badly, sell it on eBay and you'll get at least $40 - $55 for it used.

Compare the car driving or damage display to most ps2 games, including GTA3/vice city.

The driving in this is slightly better/different than in gta4, but gta4 used the bouncy car cheat physics from previous games, which was retarded and not something a modern game should've been based off of.

Compare the planes, helicopters, and other basic controls to one game. Just Cause 2. - Seemingly bigger map, the world is better looking at a distance/from the air (no 'smog' and far less pop-ins) and there weren't a fraction as many glitches/save errors. The story and NPCs were lesser, but a lot of it was WAY better and more fun (and even more realistic) than gta5. Less-realistic up-close graphics, but the explosions were way better and didn't spread as unrealistically. There's a lot more to it that gta just doesn't have, and it's mostly very basic stuff. And that's just one game that came out 5+ years ago.

Compare the motorcycles/atv controls to ANY motorcycle/atv game from the 90s/2000s.

Compare the bicycle controls to any bike game. Dave mirra, mat hoffman, bmx xxx, tj lavins bmx, downhill domination, the sh*tty gravity games game even had better/more realistic bike controls... On old systems a decade ago.

I think people have genuine grievances that shouldn't be shot down especially considering that the hype machine was working overtime pre-release. For what we've come to expect from the GTA series, this game has been little more than an average game with great graphics.

I agree totally that cars handle horribly, yes realism should be a part of the game but don't make it realistic to the point of quashing the fun. Similarly the cops are just too aggressive and seem to be everywhere and 1 and 2 star wanteds take far too long to be removed and the fact that cars disappear from garages is just a sham and makes me wonder just how much they tested the game before release as this should have been spotted.

There aren't enough houses, garages and actually interesting properties to buy (no-one wants a property that requires you to tow 300 cars to make money!). We were promised huge garages, lots of interiors and plenty of opportunity to buy property and instead we get crappy businesses that take ages to make money back (again, realism killing the fun).and very few interior'd buildings.

Things like Los Santos Customs and Car Washes are too few and the car mods are limited and rubbish for most vehicles. And it's ridiculous you can only buy one Los Santos Customs all the way in the desert and it only gives one character free mods, it should have been 1 in the city for Franklin, 1 for Michael nearest to VH and the desert one for Trevor and free mods across all three characters in owned LSCs.

I couldn't care less how good the online is, at Uni the internet is crappy and only lets you play online when it wants to and the fact is that we paid £40 for a fantastic single-player game with Online as a bonus not an Online money-maker with a rushed single-player tacked on.

Rockstar has screwed the offline/single-player gamer with this game, it is half-arsed and poorly thought out with basic things missing, it feels like they didn't really care about the single-player. I agree online gaming is where it's at but the core of any game should be a solid single-player aspect, we didn't pay for CoD where everyone knows that the big stuff is online.

Don't worry though, I'm sure they'll release a lovely £20 DLC to supplement their "cash card" (read: cash cow) earnings next year. Even if R* came out now and said we f*cked up and we'll fix it with free DLC later in the year, most of us single-player gamers would appreciate it, but they won't because they have their $1bn and they'll make plenty off the cash cards and their paid DLC.

I agree with what you said there. It's a matter of realism in the right places, which it seems it is.

But as for the driving mechanics, I've been told its similar to NFS:HP's mechanics, which to me, don't fit right in a GTA game at this day and age. So I will wait for the PC version and see if they either give an option to change mehcanics/physics and if they don't, I surely won't pay the full retail price for it.
