B Dawg
I don't really have a problem with such a minor thing. I hated the aiming reticle in GTA IV but do you see me complaining about that and asking for R*¨to change it? What was wrong with the reticule? You even had two options between a circle+dot(shows enemy health in the circle) and a dot alone. No ridiculous point pop-ups, red x marks or screen flashes. It was perfect. Besides, what's wrong with options that can make everyone happy? These new era cod like gimmicks are sh*t for most people. Officer Ronson
@B Dawg It just felt weird to shoot with such a big ass circle surrounding that little dot. It had the bar health but was it really nessesary? You could still deplete somebody's bars and they would still get up and limp away.
freedomworks96
It's useful when blind firing from cover, helped me out heaps. it's not useful at all unless you suck at video games, have never played a 3rd person shooter before, or are blind. The flash and X marker destroyed combat in this game for me. It made all of the major shootouts feel weak and cheap, and it took me out of the game. As a long time GTA fan myself, I find GTA 5 almost unplayable with the kill flash clogging my screen. lizardman563
It's fine. You're just looking for something to complain about. Sad, lol.
TJGM
It's fine. You're just looking for something to complain about. Sad, lol. Except its not fine, it took me a while to adjust. But its SO immersive breaking to have my screen flash when an enemy dies, it makes no sense. They have the death indicator that pops up when an enemy dies, I don't need my screen to flash too. freedomworks96
It sounds like "officer Ronson" and many other casual fans are so horrible at simple 3rd person action games, that they need screen flashes and visible hit markers to let him know "I got um!" in a GTA title. That's fine, but not everybody should be forced to play on easy mode. Not everybody has that much trouble seeing if a target is dead in a stupid video game. It should be optional to turn off/on the kill flash and hit markers. Edited January 31, 2014 by freedomworks96
GTAVKing2013
A few questions to the people that think the kill flash is good and nobody should have a right to play with it switched off. Are you guys that bad at 3rd person shooters as easy as GTAV, you need to play it with annoying screen flashing kill indicators? Is GTA 5 the only 3rd person shooter you have ever played?. I am beginning to notice a trend among people who 'like the screen flash' are people who never played/liked the GTA games in the 1st place. I AM that bad, and this IS the first 3rd-person shooter game that i have ever played, as well as the first NON-sports related video game i've ever played. LOL. I did have Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3, but I could NEVER get it to work! freedomworks96

We should have a simple option to turn off the kill flash and the visible X hit marker. Let the game be playable for Casual fans and long time GTA fans alike. restlessmind
Such a long thread for such a minor detail. It's something called visual feedback and is a common part of interface design in almost anything these days. It's not all that useful but it's a handy way of knowing that the number of blips on your radar has gone down by 1. Turn off the radar screen and the problem is solved. GTASuspectOnFoot
All the visual feedback most need is a body spraying blood and dropping to the ground. The fact that Rockstar previously included the option to turn off screen flash and x markets is proof enough that some players do not like it. freedomworks96
I love it metcha mucho! It helps a lot if you don't notice the X because in some environments, it can be hard to see. You're just looking for something to complain about. Sad, lol. No, whats really sad is that people actually need this crap to tell if they made a kill in a game. The screen flash is a legit issue and design flaw that takes away from the fun of combat... Just because it doesn't bother you, doesn't mean that GTA5 should be newb friendly for everyone. There should be an option to turn off the strobe flash and x marker. The flash is ugly, obtrusive, makes kills look weak, and it makes combat feel cheap and less intense. The x hit marker is enough and even that should be optional. GTA 5 already has bullet wounds, blood spray, and death animation that work fine as hit/kill indicators. If there is visible kill indicators(x's or screen flashes) in a game, they should be optional. Edited June 4, 2014 by freedomworks96

I hate it metcha mucho! It insults my intelligence, especially when making close range shotgun kills and head shots with a sniper. The flash makes kills look almost censored on impact, and it makes combat feel less satisfying and intense. thats fine if kill indicators help you, but not everybody is that bad at 3rd person shooters, so it should have an OFF/ON option. Turning off the radar does nothing to stop the screen flash effect or the x hit markers that appear for every kill. Get off this forum. You and the people defending the screen flash clearly have no idea what you are talking about Edited February 13, 2014 by freedomworks96
freedomworks96
Another complaining topic just for the sake of complaining No, it's not just complaining just for complainers sake. The screen flash and x hit marker really ruin the game for a lot of people. Many of us are long time GTA fans who feel we really got the sh*tty end of the stick. It's really sad how some players are so dumb, that they need screen flashes and x markers to tell when they killed somebody in GTA5, a game that already has good blood effects and death animations that work fine as hit markers. Personally, the screen flash ruined the entire GTA5 experience for me. Nothing takes me out of the game more than seeing the entire game world brightly flash to let me know "he's dead Jim!", as if I can't already tell... freedomworks96
Guess you didn't play Red Dead. In Red Dead you can turn the kill effect off. The kill effect in GTA 5 is much more bright/obtrusive than the one in RDR, but you can't switch it off.
