iNero
As cool as it was sometimes, most of the time you were forced to play this or that guy in missions. But the main reason I dont like 3 protagonists is that you dont get close to any of them which then makes the atmosphere less enjoyable ( at least for me ) In SA you had only CJ and you experienced everything from his perspective which made you connect with him. The same for all previous 3D GTAs. But with 3 Protagonists in V I never felt connected to any of the Protagonists. That was my fear since they announced 3 Protagonists for V. You have 69 Missions for one playthrough which is quite a bit less than in previous GTAs. Now they tried to make a story for 3 Characters with "only" 69 missions. ( some of those 69 missions were less than a minute long ) That did not work well for me as the dense atmosphere and story of previous games is missing. The story was good and also the setting but the typical GTA feeling wasnt there. I really hope they go back to 1 protagonist and then have a intense story again. Maybe they can bring back the character switching in missions by giving you the option to recruit Friends (NPCs) which then can help you in missions. You then have the switching feature but still only one guy with an intense story cyrilaeshell

But still isnt nearly as intense as previous games. cyrilaeshell

iNero
I hope not, I can see bunch of complain threads about that here. Maybe more than lack of interiors threads. I saw noone screaming "I love the GTA5 Story" or "I love the switching feature" I bet many people would prefer an intense story over switching between 3 characters. You also would have all activities and all that stuff available for only 1 character which feels more comfortable to me cyrilaeshell and UltraGizmo64
Raptomex
I didn't mind it and thought the character development was good, overall. I also enjoyed the fact I could play missions from different viewpoints.

HOW'S ANNIE?
It really depends on the setting and the time period. But hell, I really want another multi-protagonist GTA

M'aiq the Liar
The three protags is cool they should stick to it. They should have fleshed out Franklin more though. But Trevor and Micheal were done fine.
OGCFB
I like multiple characters but I think I like the separate stories way of EFLC better than switching a lot in mission. Not that I mind the switching.
Davexen
I loved it tbh. I agree with the OP that it gets harder to connect to a character when there are three protagonists but it makes up for having one protagonist that may or may not be likeable. I disliked CJ in GTA:SA, for example. That kinda ruins the game a bit. Having three protagonists makes sure you always have someone to like at least. bish0p2004
I usually agree with you, INero, but actually enjoyed the 3 guys. I didn't like being forced to choose between them at times, but it was a great attempt by R*. Also, haven't seen any of your posts recently, how do you feel about the rest of the game? zeq2mapper
Dont worry in GTA:O youll have One character, and 700 missions. So youll get your connection with your own character Thor Shreddington
ajrunke
It depends on the situation. I'm fine with it due to the story (obviously it was written around multiple protags); however, could you imagine 3 protags for Vice City? Tommy Vercetti was great. 3 characters would have really detracted from VC.....so I guess after my rambling, I'm fine with it depending upon the situation. RoadRunner71
2 characters. That would be better. that would be an idea at least. 2 brothers or best friends. but then they really need a good background story and all that. they have to have a really close relation right from the startOr two unknowns whose lifes accidentally cross. Hell, they could even be the antagonist of each other. The advantage, in my opinion, of a two character sytem is that could have a deeper story that would allow the player to feel closer to these characters but, at the same time, experiencing the different lifestyles of each character, like I guess it's V. Not to say that the storyline would be longer. Edited September 27, 2013 by RoadRunner71
ajrunke
Dont worry in GTA:O youll have One character, and 700 missions. So youll get your connection with your own character We shall see. I guarantee NONE of the missions will be the caliber of some of the large missions in story mode. I honestly think people are getting their hopes up far too much for GTA:O. I think the missions will be a let down. I'm willing to bet there won't be cut scenes either. It'll probably be some narrator saying "Go here and eliminate X". That will be the extent of it. And then rinse and repeat. I bet 650/700 are "Go here and kill X". There will be zero depth to the missions. M'aiq the Liar

I guess I was a little overhyped. The lack of some activities ( especially those with criminal background), features like taking Peds as human shields or rob them like in RDR and the the lack of enterable buildings were a bit dissapointing. After all I expected a bit more but its still a good game.

ObscureSerenity
Multiple protags has only just been introduced... there are going to be areas that need refinment, and its not going to be for everyone. That said, I think its a good point of difference, and can really help to pull in a larger story, and more bacground characters/areas... as opposed to just 1 protag workign through 1 area, then being jacked and put in another, then working through that... etc, etc.
