how do you guys feel about stealth in gta v

For something that I'm not used to in many games this was actually a very improved feature in GTA V compared to San Andreas, I'm glad it returned.

Stealth sucks ass in this game because either way cops come after you after every crime, and sometimes they come after you for being attacked and you defend yourself.

Yeah but the fact that the police react stupid (I'm in the middle of the mountain with no one around, kill a guy with a silencer and still get wanted level) has been mentioned before and let's hope they fix that... but in terms of stealth in missions I think it works pretty fine although there are not much missions that require stealth

I thought the stealth was pretty well done. I've crept up on many an innocent bystander and clapped them across the back of the head. Silencers do have a use. As soon as you fire an unsilenced gun the cops are on your ass in a heartbeat. Not so with silencers.

Totally agree with you. 90% of the issues people complain about I've never had a problem with.

in the hill side where there are hikers you can take them out no problem but when you at the very top it wont seem to work

if u knock a pedestrian out in front others of course you'll get a star but 75% of times I get a stealth kill I don't get cops.

 

silencers have a use like others said, it limits the wanted level. I have silenced hikers in the hills with no reprecussions.

 

if you use a silencer to rob a store/shoot registers/shoot clerk, the cops take longer to get to you then if you don't have a supressor

 

as far as killing cops in stealth you can. no matter what you get wanted stars but there is a delay when you use a silencer

 

also I sniped cops from a rooftop like 6 blocks away and when the heli flew over I jus hid in a doorway and I was fine.

 

I can't wait to get a supressor on my snipers and test that out.

if your around a corner and cops are lookin for you and you run, sometimes they hear you and say so. I noticed u can stealth right by them if you careful and don't let yourself show

 

and yes I have robbbed stores, ran thru alleyways, hopped fences etc and a cop who didn't see me made the same route, climbed fence etc

 

so when that happens just use the environment to your advantage. I have hidden in plain sight in cars in vinehood in front of cops because of the slight difference in altitude from a sidewalk to a street.

 

also wear a mask if you can (haven't gotten any yet I'm 30%)

 

I definitely need them to add crouching option back.

 

a lot of the cover system is flawed because your head sticks out.

 

also I want to snipe while crouching. I read a preview where someone said they layed prone on the wing of an aircraft.

 

I was expcting the control scheme of max payne regarding prone and crouching. I think we should demand crouching back.

Well everytime I hide in a bush, well this how bushes work Helis and cops in vehicles cant see you but when there on foot they can so everytime i run and hide in a bush they get out the car and walk to the exact spot i am in go try it on 2-3 stars. Stealth is broken, if i shoot out a light then kill a cop with no1 around I shouldnt get 3 stars. Dont get me wrong I love GTA 5 but R* has to stop doing stuff like this if it aint working properly dont add it. Yes I know stealth in missions work fine.... BUT WHAT IF I WANTED TO GO FULL STEALTH AFTER IM DONE THE f*ckING GAME AND HAVE FUN STEALTH ING. I bet people will say oh if you want stealth go play mgs stfu Were on the disscussion of gta5 here. I did run from the cops and hid in like this low wall and the cops didnt find me which was cool the stealth aspect is sketchy in this 70% chance they will automatically walk toward me 30% they wont walk directly torward me.

I actually tend to hate stealth in non-stealth games. (f*cking Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for PS2 scarred me when I was a kid because of the stealth bits, seriously). Yet, I don't mind it in GTA V? I hated the burglar stuff in San Andreas and Mad Dogg's Rhymes (that heavy breathing when CJ was in the shadows creeped me the f*ck out when I was a kid, haha). I know it's not really heavy stealth, but I'm glad that it's this way because GTA V isn't really a stealthy game like Splinter Cell/Hitman? It's stealthy enough to get the job done for me.

 

I do wish that stealth killing a cop didn't give you a wanted level, and sometimes - stealth killing pedestrians still alerts the cops which kinda sucks.

You can evade cops using stealth though, even if they're within the sight radius. Try crouching in some bushes when wanted, your player icon will turn grey and cops won't see you.

This is about 50/50 with me. Works sometimes and other times the cops see me in the world's biggest bush and open fire.

Idk either. The "Oh God I have to take a sh*t" stealth walk is so lame.

 

I have max stealth on Michael and even if I am in a dark alley, with only 1 pedestrian in sight, doing a stealth knock-out always triggers a wanted level. People from halfway across town start screaming the moment I knock the pedestrian out and instant 1 star wanted level.

 

Stealth feels pretty f*cking broken right now.

Hahaha same for me. People are abandoning cars 3 streets over like an asteroid is hurtling towards earth.

I'll agree that at times, the stealth is a little off, but the majority of the time it does work for me. Last night after doing a triathlon, I was running through the alleys with Franklin at night and knocked out/killed about 4-5 people with my fists and knives and never was wanted at all. I also shot a guy with my silenced pistol later on with Trevor in the Alamo Sea, no wanted level ever received.

 

I just find it so weird some people are getting wanted right away and others are not. There are times I get wanted when I thought no one was around, but the majority of the time I honestly never get even a star if there is no witnesses to my crimes.

 

I doubt we're all lying here for our cause, so I really wonder what the root of the issue is? When we do get stars, are we just missing witnesses somehow even though we are sure we looked all around, or is the system really just inconsistent and in need of work? I don't know, and will not claim to know. However, I can say for sure there have been plenty of times I killed someone quietly and never received a star at any point and there have been times where I did receive a star too.

Yea today when I was playing I had the cops on me was up on a roof just when the cop was about to find me, it wiped out. so I tryed to stealth kill the cop and I did no 1 reported so the stealth is not broken its the witness detection that is broken. If I had did it on ground some one would of probably seen or heard somehow. The witness detection needs some fixing. As some people said before people from 3 streets down run when they shouldnt have even known.

I think its done terribly. There are probably 4 stealth missions out of 69 missions. Stealth in free roam is non existant really. Silencers arent really worth equiping. the envoirnment and mission are done well but some of the features are pointless. I rate this game a 8 out of 10. The animations are beautiful aswell.

I agree I think that the player does not crouch enough I would like to see a crawl that you could do....maybe in 5 years they will do it better

The stealth is good in my book, not as great as other stealth based games. I love that it is still there. With Franklin I got his stealth to a hundred by going on a stabbing spree. Drive by a male bystander, walk up behind him with a knife, shank him, then run & evade the one star if applicable. There were times where I'd walk up to a crowd & stab someone in stealth mode then run as nobody alerts the pigs.

 

I've already stealth killed plenty of pigs in the throat with the knife and getting away clean. A couple times where the automatic 3 star wanted level didn't even show up. You can definitely use stealth against the helicopters' cone of vision by waiting for it to pass, then run like a fugitive.

 

I pretty much use the environment to my advantage.

 

Only wish is that they would crouch when in stealth mode. I'll have to settle for looking for cover.
