KillaVolt
Seriously, I have wondered about this since I was a kid and never thought to ask until here and now Where do they come from? How do they end up being found? I find it hard to believe that someone would even consider attempting just pressing random button combinations until they find one, the combinations would be in the billions. People would still be trying to find cheats for NES games to this day. So where the hell do they come from?

Saint_Dyn
I have never put much thought into it. I would think they are found around the map maybe?
ShadowPaws
No he's asking how do you make cheats and use them. lol Cheats are placed in game by the developers. Players are the ones who have to find them if in some strange cases they tell you how to do it or get it unlocked.
KillaVolt
I know where they come from, and that they are coded into the game, I'm wondering how they are discovered, and not just in GTA in any game.

Oh, well it's pretty much just people trying to figure them out by luck. There are exactly 479,001,600 different combinations, using all the buttons these cheats use. So finding them it pretty much luck.

He had a modded controller that just ran a brute force of button combos and left it running for a while until he discovered all of the button cheats. But yeah I wonder about most games too. Maybe the developers just leaks them out to websites without anyone knowing. f*ck idk, magic.
csukar
Devs put them out, people discover them by accident, the cheats get leaked by employees, brute force programs etc. etc.
Racecarlock
Well little timmy, when two subroutines love eachother very much, they 20 goto 10 all night long until the C++ gets injected with javascript. Then, nine months later, the fully formed code emerges from one of the subroutines and then grows up until it becomes a full part of the game. Next up, how a bill becomes a law. Fireman
Cheats are placed there to help developers, so usually they're not hard to input, since it's used for testing procedures. That's why a lot of cheats for games require you to use the console commands (or developer's console) with pretty simple cheat, such as: godmode_1 and stuff like that. Some games even have a cheat list in their game files, for example Omerta simply had a notepad hidden in one of the folders called cheatlist.txt with all the cheats in it.
