fernando69
Hello PRJCTZ3RO (can I call you PR for short?) Having played it for a while on patch 1.09 it is certainly better than after 1.07 but I'd say about 50% of the time it is still SUV hell and the other 50% of the time it is not too bad (a few sports cars etc) so certainly better than before but still disturbing as you are constantly worrying that when you see 30 SUVs in a row that will be it and you are always relieved to see a change. Shame really as it would be a 10 out of 10 game for me if it wasn't for all the bugs (I can't even load a saved game while connected to the internet without the whole thing crashing)
NYC PATROL
Has anyone ever tried it out in the meantime? Did they fix it by now? Nope. Really a shame. Barely touched Single Player since mid-late October because of this. One day I may re-install V on a new PS3 or w/e and see if I can play it without bugging the vehicle spawns. Above
I just reinstalled the game with 1.09 and the problem persists. I always see the same cycle of cars, and I have to restart the game if I wan't to get other cars on the streets but it will eventually get back to that same old cycle of specific cars. I noticed this bug a few hours after purchasing the game on 17 September. Because of this I have never bothered to play through the game. It's such a game breaker for me. I have been in contact with Rockstar support but their responses are not helpful at all.

Vulgar_Monkey
Nope, far as I can tell it relies pretty much entirely on other methods of switching out car models to/from memory. Loading up missions, rebooting, using what you have available in garages. In the late game it cant do it dynamically, just doesnt work. Mine is at the 85%ish post completion stage now, and it's about the same as it ever was.
Above
As is, it's currently better than v1.0 was at this point, but not as good as the previous update had been so far. Car types in memory do still swap out on occasion, though only rarely compared to earlier on, and the more common types within that set do seem to repeat quite often. The rarer types do still appear, though I now have those kind of cars in my garages, meaning they're always kept readily available in the memory anyway. When they do appear, they repeat a lot, rare or not. If I visit my garage, sultans will then appear regularly all over the place, for example So yeah, there's at least three variables at play there (game progress, 1.09 update, rare cars in garages), and it's hard to say which is having what effect.. So those cars that we regard as being rare are basically non-existent in the dynamic randomization cycle, instead relying on whether the player makes story progress, uses similar garage models, or reboots the game, right? PRJCTZ3R0
Hello PRJCTZ3RO (can I call you PR for short?) I'd prefer PZ if need be (uh, what a rhyme, huh? haha). ;-) Well thanks to you guys. Actually, something really surprising happened to me sometime last week: Earlier in this thread i mentioned that i posted this issue on the R* Support Page or actually submitted a ticket to them. I had a few mail exchanges but all of a sudden, never heard anything back from them. That was about two months (or even more) ago. Now all of a sudden i receive an e-mail from them, following up on the ticket asking me if the problem could be solved through the various patches they released. So it seems that they're still aware of the problem. Anyhow, since the game isn't fixed and thus completely unplayable for me, i never actually finished. And since i never got friend with the Multiplayer mode i guess i'll just leave it to dust in my collection. Too bad, but this really keeps me from playing it again. EDIT: Not sure if this works, but here you can check out the convo with Rockstar Support. I just left them a reply and updated them with the current situation. I gave them solutions people tried but didn't work etc. They told me they would look into it but that it would probably be low on the priority list of fixes for the game. Who knows maybe once more online content, fixes slow down maybe a patch will finally come about for this.
buginafug
I have this issue on the PS3, but not so much on the 360 (4GB with hard drive installed, patched to 1.09). It definitely ruins the atmosphere of the game for me.

So those cars that we regard as being rare are basically non-existent in the dynamic randomization cycle, instead relying on whether the player makes story progress, uses similar garage models, or reboots the game, right? Pretty much. Let me put it this way. In the early game, the randomisation works fairly well....rare cars will appear on occasion in logical places, however once they're in the rotation they dont just appear as a one off, they're either a regular part of traffic or not at all. So if a sultan is in rotation, you'll see it anywhere a car of its type would be expected to spawn, as a common part of the traffic, until it exits rotation and is replaced by another model. The futo in particular does this a lot.....appears rarely, but when it does appear, it'll appear eeeverywhere. At this point I should note that in this context 'rare' cars are not just sultans or futos (which are intentionally rare), but also the cheval surge, fusilade, voltic, etc etc. There's a whole list of cars that are fairly common early on that become rare as the bug takes hold later in the game. For whatever reason the pool of common cars seems to be increasingly weighted heavily towards certain models, so that eventually others just arent seen at all. Later in the game, when the bug is well established, the only way I could get certain cars to spawn was by loading a mission in which that vehicle is scripted to always appear, grabbing the car, quitting out, and now that the car is forced into memory it appears as regular traffic rotation, enabling you to steal it and bung it in the garage. At which point a visit to the garage will force it to load up as traffic. Basically the memory allocation is all screwed up, so you have to force it to work for you by exploiting certain system mechanics. At which point a visit to the garage will force it to load up as traffic. Basically the memory allocation is all screwed up, so you have to force it to work for you by exploiting certain system mechanics. I haven't experienced how the bug behaves in the late game but I already find it pretty bad in the early game. I can boot up the game and see cars, such as see Sultan or Primo, but then I most likely won't see Vigeros, Futos, Minivans, Intruders, or Sabre GTs. It's like the memory only can handle sets of cars and then substitutes have to be forced in. What I cannot understand is how Rockstar responds to people reporting the issue, like when they refer to "some players reporting this issue". They make it sound like it only affects a handful of players but the truth probably is that most players just haven't noticed the bug. For that reason it probably is low priority but I still don't understand why the developers do not solve this or just admit that they can't. Not only has their vagueness kept me from playing through the game but also made me wonder if something is wrong with my PS3. It's sickening how my most anticipated game ever is ruined by a bug they cannot be arsed to fix. It's been four months already. Vulgar_Monkey
Yeah, the memory can only handle x number of models at any one time (around a dozen or so, 15 maybe?) for the entire map, which then ends up being 4 or 5 per distinct 'area' (the hills, downtown, blaine county) at any one time. It used to be that in v1.00 this number would radically reduce towards the end game, to more like 2 per area. You'd just see the same car everywhere. With more recent patches it can now maintain the full number of cars in rotation (still 4 or 5) per area, but is unable to swap them out periodically, as it normally does early on. So whichever 4 or 5 you see are the 4 or 5 you'll probably be stuck with for that entire free roam session. At the very least you'd expect the game to take the opportunity to randomise city cars while you're up in paleto bay, and vice versa, but for whatever reason the game seems to need to keep them readily available wherever you are. Possibly because of the character switching mechanic, though that seems not entirely convincing imo.

PRJCTZ3R0
So it seems, that Rockstar does not care as much about it's customers, as i always thought. I posted my convo with the support a few pages back, now this is the final statement i received from their support. PRJCTZ3R0, Jan 29: Hello Vincent Sorry for the delayed response and thank you for getting back to me on the matter even after such a long time. I'm afraid though, that i can not come back to you with good news: The issue still persists for me and several other players that i have been in contact with. To be honest: I gave up hopes on it. The games is broken and unplayable for me and thus i'm not planning on picking it up again (i wasn't even able to finish it due to this problem). Furthermore: I paid for a product that is - in it's current state - so broken, that i'm not willing to even try and getting back to it again. I am aware that this is not your fault and you're doing your best to work on customer support, but i am really disappointed with Rockstar. I've been a very loyal customer to your company but i will sure think twice before buying future games from Rockstar again. Sincerely, A very disappointed and highly unsatisfied customer Their answer: Vincent R., Rockstar Support, Feb 11 Hello PRJCTZ3RO, We do understand your decision to do so and while we do apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with this issue. If do you require our assistance in the future please do not hesitate to get back in contact with us. Thank you very much for contacting Rockstar. Happy Gaming,Vincent R. Lethal Vaccine
What is wrong with all your games?! ^^^ This just....Doesn't happen to me. The only time this happened was on Patch 1.07 for a short 5-7 days. Once 1.08 came out, everything is good for me and I NEVER see this kinds of stuff ^^^^ That is why I am so afraid to update to any new Patch. I didn't do 1.09, and I didn't do 1.10. 1.08 seems like a winner for me and I am more than happy with the game how it is right now for me, and don't really care to update. The ONLY way I think I'd update is if Rockstar added more storage space for vehicles in SP. That literally is the ONLY way. Why would I update for Heists when I reached the money cap with all three characters? Can't even get any more money, nor can I spend it on anything. So the way the game was on 1.08 is the last I will update. I surely hope more space for vehicle storage will be added, but who knows... ~Tiger~
What is wrong with all your games?! It's only a glitch, it doesn't happen all the time and if it does you just grab a vehicle and drive away and it sorts itself out.
woggleman
It seems a lot better after 1.10. I saw a lot of 9f Cabrios for some reason and I grabbed one and stored it. After that it is sports cars galore.
Spectre95
Traffic is still very much broken with patch 1.10 I updated from 1.08(the only patch that partially fixed the problem) to 1.10 and the difference is night and day. I just drove around all over LS and I literally saw nothing but jeeps and SUV's. Looks like I'll be taking another long break until Rockstar can get their sh*t together. woggleman
Clear your profile or Cache every now and then. Ever since the 1.08 update my car spawning issue has been fine. KeepCalm and CarryGun
make sure you are driving the class of car you want. That has been true in every GTA. This is very true, vehicle spawn dynamics seem to be linked to a number of factors, and the vehicle you happen to be in is clearly one of them. Others include time of day, and the area you happen to be driving in. If you have this issue, does it happen when you drive the Elegy? (selectable from your garage in SP). JayJordan2008
This bug just hit me the other day. I sorta noticed it like a lot of others trying to find a get away car for the final heist but didn't really think about it a whole lot. I finished the heist along with option C ending story mode. Finally I think to myself I got a sh*t load of money to blow getting and modding cars to the max I actually want. So I began looking in the areas where sultans supposedly spawn and after an hour absolutely no luck. So I began looking for a futo in their common spawn areas when I realized the same damn suv's and washingtons are the only damn cars spawning no matter where I go. This is totally frustrating and again just like a lot of others has absolutely ruined the game for me and I have no desire to go on to 100%. It's just to annoying and frustrating. I mean what's the point in playing a game that's supposed to be centered around cars and has a huge variety of them and you can only find 4 of them in the huge world your playing in. I'm some frustrated I can't stand it. Please fix this R* it's been like 5 damn months already!!!!
Silent Dogwood
sh*t, I just started getting this a few days after the patch. And I'd been playing WITH the patch for hours without an issue. Above
It will be interesting to see what the new patch (1.11) will do to address this problem but I won't get my hopes up. I'm amazed this still hasn't been fixed. Shouldn't it be fairly simple to program a reset of the cars in the memory so they would change every 10 minutes or so? I'm getting tired of restarting the game to randomize.
ric4rd094
So I've been playing V since September and I fugured out couple of interesting things about this. This is linked with story progress or missions passed.I have my 100% save and with this variety of cars is miserable, miserable, mi-se-ra-ble It's not just that only some SUVs and one other vehicle are cruising around (I don't have this SUV bug), but there are maybe 4 diffrent cars in one area and they're not changing. I started a new game I only passed "Franklin & Lamar" mission. The variety of cars is much more noticeable than on 100% save. I can see traffic is changing, cars are randomizing in diffrent places...So my theory is that is it linked with misssions and some of them are bugged and causing this bug OR after you beat the game, console just can't take much more to process and it has not enough memory. I don't know...
