I would want it to take place in Amsterdam! Europe would be refreshing from the last two games being major U.S. cities. The canals in Amsterdam and canal houses I think would make a gorgeous setting and think of all the drugs and prostitution they could use to integrate into the game. Practically everyone in Amsterdam also speaks English so language wouldn't be a problem when it comes to realism.

I could see another game set in Vice City, though I have to admit I like the atmosphere they gave Los Santos. What about a game set in San Fransicso, in a modern day recreation of San Fierro? I'll state the obvious and also say the people at Rockstar might already be thinking about these things, if they continue the trend. I mean they started work on Iv soon after San Andreas was released, and V after IV was. Maybe it might be a little different this time seeing as we now have GTA Online, which could really almost count as a standalone game if it lives up to the hype. I guess we'll see in four to five years, though!

Off topic even more, I also wouldn't mind seeing a prologue to GTA V. I'm really intrigued in Michael's and Trevor's back-stories, and think those alone would be a great standalone game.

I want somewhere like Brazil or Mexico, need a scene we haven't explored before and I think the variation those scenes provide would be bad ass (Brazil more so, though Mexico has some obvious story potential). Basically somewhere that isn't America and has that culture contrast.

Interesting. I have seen high demand for a return to Las Venturas but little call for San Fierro. I guess it could be intriguing to see how Rockstar would re-develop this location.

I always felt that San Fierro was the least appealing city of San Andreas. It felt quite vacuous and forgetful, the only landmarks been the Pyramid Tower and naval base. San Fierro had very little character in comparison to Las Venturas (gambling and tourism) and Los Santos (gang culture and leisure), so a complete reboot would be appealing.

I agree. It seemed like a filler in San Andreas, a bridge to the next part of the story, kind of like Mexico in RDR (Honestly, I didn't think the Mexico missions were bad at all). I think San Francisco has it's own charm, and I think it deserves to be properly represented in a Grand Theft Auto.

You got Brazil in Max Payne. They wont be taking a page from that book.

I think people are failing to realize that GTA is a satire of American Culture. Taking it somewhere else wouldnt make it GTA. All the American Elitism jokes will be gone and if they try to apply the same satire to another Culture. They wont be making the kind of sales they do now. Theres money in American settings for GTA. I think the only potential outside the US would be a take on Tijuana...Its well known among Americans. Its not too distant that the average gamer wouldnt be aware of the cultural satire and people wouldnt be too offset by it. But I seriously doubt GTA will ever leave American soil again.

but isn't rockstar also located in london anyway? or england or something like that?

yeah, looks like they are. rockstar north is located there, and they are responsible for their GTA iterations. so I doubt they wouldn't at least look at London.

I would LIKE Chicago, because I'm from there and to see a faithful representation would be awesome. But...a modern Vice City would be awesome. I kinda wish they'd do an HD rendition of that game. Upgraded graphics and maybe some added features.

One thing I don't understand is why people want a game set in Venturas. To me, Las Vegas is just casinos. There's no other attraction to it, and I think very little story potential outside of perhaps a mob angle, which I think is over used and beneath Rockstar's capacity for storytelling.

Rockstar has a habit of revisiting past locations on the current/next gen consoles. Realistically I would imagine they would revisit Vice City in their next adaptation.

However, I would like to see the series leave the US and return to the UK. They have only visited the country in the 2D genre and a 3D sequel would be a laudable move. I believe there is much potential to produce a profound story around multi-cultural London or other cities (Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow even). Imagine how Rockstar could utilize football hooliganism, the 'chav' culture or even explore the upper classes in their games. It would make for a brilliantly dynamic cast of characters and gameplay features; drug dealing in the ghettos of Manchester to equestrian in Cotswold. There's plenty of countryside too.

I think you have something there. I don't think they'd make one in Britain, though. Much of the appeal of the modern day Grand Theft Auto is the satirization of American Culture and American Ideals, looking in from the outside. That approach wouldn't necessarily work in a GTA knockoff of London, since the masterminds of the series are from there. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see it, but it doesn't fit with what GTA is about, underneath it all.

Does any of that make sense?

didn't they say this was the last GTA game they were making? If not, it will probably be on the next gen console, so lets be ambitious. All of Europe... I want to going skiing in the alps. :r*:

I think it does, but I don't doubt they'll make a London-esque GTA, just probably not for the next game. They might do it if they regrettably, just "remake" Vice City. I guess for them, it would be easier than creating something new and they know we would buy it, I mean, didn't they make over a 1 billion in three days? If they make it good enough, it could take place in Disney Land and people would still line up to buy it, especially with the potential these next consoles will have.

I agree, and although I feel that way about all Sunbelt cities, I think Rockstar really might have their sights set on doing Vice City again if only because it would save them time and money not having to build a brand new location and story, and yet they would make at least as much as V made, which is a lot.

My problem is that Rockstar would just update and polish a game they essentially already made and sold and sell it again. Leave that rehashing crap to Activision, and give us something different.

I wonder if rockstar would ever try something like a war based game, like say a WW2 driven story game based in Europe in a "gang wars" territory styled battles as well as incorporating free roaming, that's something I'd like to see.

Seems like it's between London and Miami. This game NEEDS a game released based around London. Being from England, I really can't see the difference between where it's set now in Los Angeles to Miami? Both have big buildings on the coast.. boring. Can't ever see it being based around London though with no coast.

Should be where I am! Poole England, with Sandbanks being the expensive/beachy area. (Google it)

going by the top 4 here - we've already had a miami and a vegas, no need to keep doing the same cities over and over. Between London and Chicago - the nod clearly has to go to Chicago.

Granted the fog breathers have alot going for them, but in the end GTA boils down to two things guns and crime. - there is clearly more guns in Chicago then London, and we are the land of Al Capone!

I think it's between Miami and London because the just like the people who were huge fans of San Andreas, the Vice City fans think the game needs their game to be revisited. London just makes more sense between the two because like you said, they really should not release two games back to back both based in sunbelt cities, they're too similar. I know I make the argument for Chicago when someone says it's too close to NYC to make it distinct, but if GTA V was based in Liberty City these people would have a point. To me it's about keeping it varied and changing it up, and it only makes sense to go to a rust belt city after having played in the warm, tropical sand beaches of Los Santos. Even still, if we were just at Liberty City, I'd still probably be pushing for another urban jungle like Chicago only because these Vice City fans do it too despite Los Santos being a very similar environment.

That is exactly what I've been trying to say. I'm not saying I'm right, you know I think it should be based in Chicago, but really just anywhere except Miami, because that's something we've already done. I'm not even sure why they "revisited" Los Santos before crafting a game around an entirely new and fresh location, like um, well Chicago or London even. But as you said I think Chitown gets the edge only because it's an American city, and if you believe what's been said, they won't make a London GTA for some time.

Maybe they would try it, but I don't know about that for the sequel to V. That doesn't seem like the setup/background for a GTA game lol Great Idea though, I mean, they Made RDR and LA Noir, I'm sure they can do something like that.

I think another good reason for Vice City is the different kind of atmospheres. It's Florida, so you can have beaches, Swamps, urban areas and sh*t like that. Thinking about Chicago...it's not much different from Liberty City. It's pretty much an urban landscape the whole way through, unless you can go wreak havoc in the suburbs. Plus there's just something about the aesthetic of Miami that would be fun to play around in again in this crazy HD era. I DO wonder what the absolute most diverse place would be on American soil.

Who here is saying it should be in a real city? All I've been doing this whole time is merely suggesting the next city Rockstar should base the location of the sequel on, I never meant to imply which real-world city the game should be set in. There is a huge difference, one you seem to consciously ignore again and agian. Why don't you understand this after I've reiterated it numerous times? Do you do this for fun?

Um, not anything personal against you or Tallahassee, but that's hardly the standard for "GTA Material" in my opinion. I think many other places could be considered before that, like many others have mentioned already. Not to burst your bubble man, but do you really think people would rather play GTA in the Rockstar equivalent of Tallahassee over Detroit? New Orleans? Miami? Chicago? Philly or Baltimore? What about DC? I mean, I think that place is a bit out-weighed, just sayin.
