What's the obsession with Grove Street?

Even though I loved San Andreas and play it on PC whenever I get a chance, I never get that affection that some guys here get toward Grove Street. Yea it's cool and all, bu seriously, the best place to live in San Andreas was in that aiplane junkyard where you had you own damn hangar. Don't get me wrong, I love te CJ haracter and his story, but this "Grove Street 4 Lyfe" sh*t is annoying. Especially now, that people are trying to find references to the old Grove Street into the new Grove Street.

I agree the hanger is better. For me, Grove street is the first thing I saw, and every time I start a new game (I end up buying another copy every 2 years) it's the first place I see again. For that reason it is home.

That being said, I do not have the obsession with Grove Street. I think it's cool that it's in the game, and I would love to see some easter eggs or other connections. If CJs house was in shambles, that would be awesome. I think they should have done that, as a way to move on or what not.

Most Grove Street threads I do not click on, and I do not have any big plans to go there.

You are in Groove Street for the most part of the game. CJ's first house is there, his whole gang is there, Big Smoke is there. A huge part of the mission locations is in Groove Street.

SA was centered around the gang wars. Groove Street was the Groove Street gangs HQ. It holds a really special place in the heart for alot of SA fans.

I think for those who are obsessed with Grove Street have one thing in common.... San Andreas was their first GTA....

I played GTA III and Vice City before it so I didn't have special feelings for grove street

I disagree. I started with GTA II and I still thought that Grove Street was awesome, same with Glen Park. Ghetto gang war sh*t was pretty cool, and was a new step for GTA, much like V is today.

It's a pretty much a national landmark in GTA games, without Grove Street...Los Santos wouldn't be Los Santos. And we love seeing it because it's a reminiscent of GTA: San Andreas.

I believe some of our younger forum-members like Grove Street so much merely because it's based on Spruce Street in Compton.

And that the Grove Street Families are based on Lime Street Pirus and that the Ballas are based on the Grape Street Crips adds to the flavor of all the wannabe hoodlums :)

With me that's not the case. I played III when it came out, I don't have any strong feelings for it besides the driving and being able to wherever I wanted. I played a lot of Driver in those days as well, I used to do the Police Rampage survival thing for hours. Literally 4 hours at a time, in the same square evading police.

Vice City was cool because it was new and had mopeds, but I wished the map wasn't so small. I remember wishing they didn't spend so much memory on the cut scenes and made the map bigger. Again, only sentimental about the driving.

San Andreas, the whole map. That's what made the game for me. The open areas of the abandoned airport and evading the police on a motorcycle with 5 stars for hours. Grove Street was a part of that, and I guess I am sentimental more towards it than other parts of the map, like the casinos or what ever. SA was not my first GTA though. We've come a long way since Paperboy and Excitebike, eh?

Because it's a landmark.

Same with the Hotel in Vice City.

And Sex Club 7 in III

Exactly, Vice City's Hotel, Club, and Mall and Luigi's Club & Salvatore's Gentlemen's Club Mansion were big historic landmarks like Grove Street.

Wrong, GTA 3 was first for me, but didnt play it that much I played GTA 3 on my cousins house not that much, my first " Official" GTA meaning I bought the game was Vice City, and Vice City is my favorite I think, but I think SA is just way better in every aspect I think, and the Grove Street thing is because the game is centered in gang wars and Grove Street was the HQ where all your "main" friends were from.

Maybe nostalgia. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Vice City. It's still my favorite GTA game...followed by GTAV.

Yeah this. VC is my first GTA but it's just nostalgia. I mean if there was going to be a HD VC wouldn't people want to see Tommy's Hotel return?

If I was in charge at Cockstar. I'd release Sequels to all the PS2 era GTAs.

Grand Theft Auto III the 2nd

Grand Theft Auto Vice City 2

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas 2

I always thought it would be cool to get a phone call while playing GTA V asking if you wanted to go bowling, from a random stranger or Niko.

The name Ganton is a play on real life neighborhood Compton which is in Los Angeles county, north of Long Beach.

However, Grove Street itself takes influence from Spruce Street in Compton.

Likewise, the main road in Ganton primarily resembles Rosecrans Avenue in Compton.

How on earth can you have a special feeling for a bunch of pixels? It's just nostalgia for people. SA was my first GTA and I couldn't care less about Grove Street.

Rockstar must be a little obsessed with it themselves or it wouldn't be in GTAV. A lot of people thought Rockstar wouldn't make such a big reference to GTA San Andreas since they kept more distance between GTA IV and GTA III.
