memory refresh- are cops in safehouses a new thing?

I don't remember cops being able to come all the way into your safehouse in IV. I remember they would swarm around outside, and I think in some of the safehouses they could come to a downstairs lobby or something, but not all the way in to where you sleep and block the ability to save, right?

If I remember correctly in an earlier GTA (maybe all the way back to original III or SA?) you used to be able to go into pay & sprays even with the cops right on your ass, and then they changed that at some point so you had to lose the cops first- but that was never the case for safehouses before was it? Even though it's super unrealistic, I thought that was the point of safe houses. Maybe I just have a bad memory...

In GTA IV, the cops came all the way inside the apartment at least in the first house you had. I don't remember about other houses.

This happened to me only once with Franklin. After successfully outrunning the cops blue cone, he was entering his safe house when crusier drove by and put him back on radar. Made him run into the safe house where his Aunt was watching TV. She ran screaming out of the house and I sent Franklin into his bedroom to save the game. That's when 2 cops from the cruiser broke into the house and shot him to hell.

This is probably going to be an increasing phenomenon with V given the cops increased AI and over the top response to minor crimes. However, it's not unique.

This also happened to me once in GTA 4 with Niko's safe house in Alderny. After raising some mayhem, Niko entered the safe house and tried to go to sleep. But unfortunately one of the cop's AI was a lot smarter than the rest. He entered the apt and smoked Niko.

It happened in GTA IV, except the safehouses that 'teleported' you inside, like Playboy's where you used the elevator, and that Algonquin pad. The ones which could be accessed via stairs could also be accessed by the cops. The Bohan safehouse was one of my favorite places for a shootout, just hide bhind the kitchen counter and blast everyone who comes through the door. :)

AH, you're right, that's what I'm remembering, the cops couldn't use the 'elevators'. It was fun to ratchet up your stars and lead a bunch of cops to Playboy's place and battle it out with them from the balcony, lol. I feel like I was able to still go to sleep and save though... PkUnzipper- do you reember if you just got blasted before you got a chance to save, or did the game actually not give you the option?

I can't remember if it actually took the heat off like it did in the earlier games, but I do remember it letting me sleep/save (I feel like when you saved the cops would still be there after it was done, but if you fully reloaded the save game they would be gone?).
When it happened to me in V just now I didn't even have the option though.
