Do i have to start the assassination missions?

So i've heard that you can make som serious money at the stock market during Lesters assassination missions as Franklin.

 

I want to do them after the main story for maximum profit.

 

I'm at the Merryweather heis where you get masks and boiler suits, and have gotten all of the necessary stuff.

Then i get a text from Franklin where he says that we have to stall the heist because he has business with Lester or something like that.

 

So i went to Lester as Franklin, and that started the first assassination mission.

 

It seems that i have to do the first mission before i can start the Merryweather heist, is this true?

If not, how do i start the heist? There are no other icons on the map except for Lesters.

Try swapping to one of the other characters, maybe? I'm pretty sure they can all be avoided, but I had done them already.

Only Franklin does assassination, so just avoid going to an L with Franklin.

I have been wandering around for a while with both Michael and Trevor, even slept a few times but nothing happens.

I think i read somewhere that you can do all of the missions after the story, i'll have to try and wander some more i suppose.

I ran into the same thing last night. You must do the first hotel assassination first before you can move in to the blitz play mission. There are still 4 more assassination missions for you to wait until the end to do.
