Year13
The police in GTA V are so f*cking overpowered, their cars go like a million f*cking mph and they just dont f*cking go away. It takes the fun out of the game. Even if you dont have the cops after you, if they crash into you, they blame it on you and try to kill you, even though its their fault. GTA V is good and all but the police scheme in GTA IV was way better than it is now, like seriously. Even if you're in the middle of the f*cking desert and you shoot a silenced weapon they're after you, like how the f*ck would they know? I call bullsh*t. GTA, sort out your f*cking game. ThatRandomGuy42
They are irritating, that's not a lie. If you ever get 3 star wanted level, you can kiss your chances of escaping goodbye once the choppers come out. I do like that the cars actually have tactics to try and take you out, like boxing you in, or ramming you, but that's only cool after the first time. It's annoying otherwise. ten-a-penny

Mathute87
I dont want to sound like a dick, but the one time I had some issues with the police was at 5-Star levels, only because they're everywhere. But I find the system quite good, tbh, maybe you just suck lol ten-a-penny, GTA Banjo and Bobbyleez
Snock
I'd like to know what everyone is doing to attain a high enough wanted level that you can't get away from the cops. I escape from 3 stars all the time. And if you're attaining higher than 3 maybe you deserve to get shot to hell. Wolfe19 and SNEAKN80

Udrift
I've only played the game for 3 hours, but I had good luck with driving into oncoming traffic and swerving around when the police are chasing you, on the highways and the city. Keep on looking behind you and eventually one of them will crash, then you can try to take some cover from the helicopter. If they get in front of you to box you in, you can shoot and kill the car in front of you.

morphpogo
I found the new police system far superiour to the previous GTA titles. Now line of sight and changing vehicles play a big role and is more realistic than the police always knowing where you are, even if you hide in a trashcan. I actually can't complain about chases, you just have to make sharp turns, drive trhough alleys etc. Of course you won't lose the police driving on the highway. Sometimes if you just got 1 or 2 followers, shooting their tyres might do the trick. About the desert thing, I haven't had this happen so I don't know. Only thing I know is, that I sometimes kill people directly in Los Santos with silenced weapon, knives and wont get a star because nobody saw or heard it. Less police patrols are also more realistic now, although it is a bit too less police around. But it doesnt really bother me. ten-a-penny
Udrift
Also, it does suck if you are in the desert, or even the city and nobody around. I could see in the city, 50/50 chance they come because someone calling them. In the desert, they should only come if someone calls them. I wish they would fix this. It would sure help it feel like you are in the actual desert, cut off from the city, a no-mans land.

Snock
The approaches I usually take to get away are: 1. Hide (Under an overpass, in an alley, behind a house, in a large parking lot, inside a scrap yard, etc.) Overpasses and Scrap Yards are essential when evading a helicopter. 2. Go Off Road (very rarely have cops chased me when I'm going down a trail - if you're in an offroad vehicle to can get away from civilization pretty quickly if you're outside of LS) 3. Change vehicles. (the dispatchers report the make of your car. If you get out and change, it makes a huge difference - they no longer know exactly what you're driving. I have been on a freeway hauling ass, got out of sight of the cop car, stopped inside a tunnel, jacked a new car going the other direction and the cop that was chasing me finally caught up and didn't even see me at all. ) You can also re-paint your car as long as the cops don't see you enter (i think? i haven't actually ever needed to do this) ten-a-penny and SNEAKN80
Ash_735
It's all about tactics, and it's much more fun now than the circle thing from GTA IV. Here you actually have to drive and keep out of sight, you can't just speed away in one direction as they'll call that and get back up there, so you have to avoid any police on the radar, always turn away from them, take back alleys, tunnels, etc, it's really fun, though i will admit there have been moments where a single cop just walking down the street has ruined a near perfect escape an re-alerts everyone again. Ferocious Banger
I agree with the fact that they are overpowered. But, but, cop chases are much more intense than they ever were in IV. With that said, I will start using the no-cop cheat sooner or later if and when it starts annoying me.
TheIllaDopest
You must suck i get 5 * and still get away with murder. You have no criminal skill whatsoever. SNEAKN80
ArcherTheGreat
The difficulty in getting away from them is very subjective. You gotta be creative. For example, you can't just keep driving in a straight line. You have to make a lot of turns (and sharp ones) because the game will likely begin spawning cop cars in your way. Keeping watch on your minimap will tell you which turns you should make to avoid getting in their search cones. As for helicopters, that sh*t's difficult. Under a bridge or a heavily covered alley is your best bet. Also, it is almost impossible to shake them off while train surfing. Helicopters literally spawn anywhere and everywhere. There's no hiding. It took me more than 20 mins to lose my 5 star wanted level by camping on top of the goddamn train. ten-a-penny and SNEAKN80
Knife
Personally, I've been finding them easy to escape, I've not yet found them to come in overwhelming numbers. I can always get in a alley or whatever to lose them. Maybe I've just been lucky, I don't know. SNEAKN80
Rewdalf
"The cops are annoying." Wait, what? They aren't supposed to? You're a criminal. They're going to annoy you. My only advice is, be a better criminal... The new system is far better than the old ones. People bitched and moaned that it was "too easy" to escape cops in IV, now it's too hard? Anyone else here play video games for a challenge? Because when every level is a pushover, I lose interest and drop the game. JustRob
Spray shops still work wonders. I found they were kinda useless in GTAIV, but they really saved me a couple times in GTAV. Just make sure you break their line of sight for a second, hop in, respray, bounce out. But yeah, when it comes to getting a wanted level, it's a bit ridiculous. I remember the days when I could go on the streets and beat the crap out of some people without getting a wanted level. Now, you beat up one, wanted level. quidyg
the police are easy to escape from, all you have to is find a decent hiding spot and turn your lights off and stay still. i even had a chopper on me once, done exactly that, they shone the spotlight on my car and didn't even realize i was there
idesmond
And the worst part is when you are wanted and you try to go to a LS Customs (pay&spray) to respray your car they won't even let you in! You have to lose the cops first! Wtf, I'm trying to respray my car here open up!
Grathefato
Yeah 3* is easy, just use your brain, get out of sight and stay out of sight, simple. Don't stay on main roads. Edited September 22, 2013 by Grathefato
E•MO•TION
I don't see what the problem is with law enforcement. Keep your eyes on the god damn radar and just stay out of sight. ramtastic
The system is awesome - I had the cones searching for me at 2 stars and I was on a road out in the country with a cop car behind me and one coming in the opposite direction - There was a big rig ahead of me so I dropped behind it and snuck by as the cop car went past on the other side of the road. Waaaay more satisfying than flooring it to get out of the circle in IV
Savo7en
OP it's probably irritating because you have only had the game a few days and not mastered it yet. Give it time and maybe think of a few tactics to lose the cops
