Map doesn't feel big

i understand you feel that why but did you have to make a new thread on top of the other 1000+ on here made by the same 3 people using different accounts????

everything is perfect in this game. There is no other like it. It has qualities of a liner game but its a massive sandbox. There are no equals out there. Not even WD on PS4 can compete with this.

I think the map would be too big if it was any bigger, it doesn't need any more space.

The draw distance means you can see across the map, but it's the better of two evils, I'd much rather have a lovely clear view than a smoggy haze.

I have to say you're the only person I've seen here with complaints about the draw distance even by proxy.

All in all the map is huge the game is great if I was held at gunpoint to say one negative about the map / environment I'd say the clouds aren't that great. See, such minor trivialities are what I am reduced to when made to criticise this game.

Oh, I'm sorry if this is another one of those "spam" threads. Trust me, that wasn't the intention. Also, haven't really been on the forums much ( you know why :p ).

As far as WD is concerned, I'm not responding to that, for I am sure that my reply would instigate a flame war; not necessarily with you as a participant, but from the other "extreme" fans of our beloved Grand Theft Auto franchise.

The map kinda felt small to me as well. At least the city. It took me between 1:30minutes and 2 minutes to go from Rockford Hills to "Smoke in water" in Vespucci beach... on a f*cking VAN! The was one of the main dissapointments i got out of the game. It's a GTA game and one can't help but love it, but GTA IV was better imo.

This map feels huge to me. Also remember, the cars as a whole move faster now so we cover more ground faster than in previous GTAs.

NothingPersonal

This a joke right? The map is scaled pretty damn close to real life.

I love the map, but I'd say it's extremely condensed as a version. For example, the distance from North Hollywood to Compton = 30 miles. Sunset Boulevard alone is 21 miles.

Try to walk around the whole map then tell me it's small.

This...RDR feel big just because there was no infernus.

I think were gonna need a bigger map...OP if you think this map is small...then well, I feel bad for you. Its huge to me and very entertaining. I want to be able to see the mountains in the distance just like real life.

why make this thread then idiot?

You're complaining because the map is too big AND advanced(best draw distance for any game).. Thats like saying the earth is huge but doesnt feel big because of the real life draw distances.

You f*ckin idiot... go play your ps2 games.

the map is perfect, SA was too big and filled with nothing, atleast the desert in V has good trails and some stuff to look at.

i love the fact i can find the hollywood sign tower if i dont know exactly where i am or MT chilliad, it kinda puts it into perspective.

Would I have loved a larger map? Yes

Is the current map too small? No

I'd love to see future expansion packs that unlocks another island e.g. Las Venturas and story line.

TAKE MY MONEY

the map is tiny but it's so diverse that it's hard to tell but when you are flying with a helicopter you can see how tiny it is theres two or three big mountains at the end of it thats it then theres nothing more of it

the entire countryside all of it can be seen in one screen

You can also see all of the Sun from earth but does that mean the Sun is tiny too?

to me when flying over it looks like a distant fake island

the map feels big but it's actually small there should be another major city like los santos at the side of the map and another major city at the other side

then about 4 blaine countys surrounding it all

the island way worked with liberty city but for los santos it just feels like a distant alien island in the middle of nowhere when you fly over it it is connected to nothing it's just a city with countryside infront of it

i am not complaining but i think it could have been alot bigger

If you compare the map to the real Los Angeles, yes it's small. If you take it for what it is, a video game world, and look at the actual size, it's pretty big. I'd say 25 sq miles is pretty huge for a game and more than enough with the current hardware we have. Doesn't mean I am right, but that's my opinion.

I also would like to point out how the OP made it a point that the map is a 9 mile drive N to S. 9 miles may sound small, but even in real life, that;s one large area if it's a 9 mile drive N to S. Heck, I live in the southern part of my county, out of city limits and have an 11 mile drive through my city, into the neighboring state and through part of the city. That's basically a straight S to N drive. Considering the map in GTA V is only 2 miles shorter of a drive than that, I find that kind of amazing.

I'd just like to say that f*ck Just Cause 2 and it's copy&paste trees and islands. It had less actual detail than V but spread out onto a huge boring area. f*ck that game, twice.

Well you're right especially with the draw distance. The map is good with a lot of variety, Los Santos is a bit small but very pleasant. The problem is that even if it's bigger than San Andreas, it doesn't feel bigger. The main advantage in San Andreas was the 3 cities, with 3 extremly different atmosphere. If you were is Las Venturas, you feel like you were 100 miles away from San Fierro (ok maybe not 100 miles). If you're in Sandy Shores, you feel like if you are next to Los Santos. It's mainly due to the draw distance.

But the map really lack of a second big city with a totally different feeling.

So the countryside is really nice to explore, I love Los Santos and all the little places hidden that we can explore, but it doesn't feel as giant as San Andreas was in my opinion.

San Andreas felt bigger(although it wasn't) because of the 3 cities and stuff to do in them. Every area felt unique.

V is full of hills and mountains.

Actually the illusion of distance makes the map bigger than it is.

The fogging, blurring, or desaturation of distant objects, buildings, mountains make it seem that they are father than they really are.

Everything is scaled down including the passage of time. So if you're driving down the Highway and you see that mountain in the distance seems so far away, that's because it is, at least in the gta world, and it also takes hours to get there in in-game time

Woah woah! Calm down there, old man. I'm not sure if you are getting what I am saying. It's just that, the more the draw distance increases, the more the world's sizing or "sensible sizing" ( like with RDR ) should increase.

OP has never been up a mountain near a city.

Funnily enough, if you go somewhere high up in real life, you can see further. It's incredible, I know.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

Sorry you feel that way. Of course your opinion is statistically wrong & the map is huge. In fact, people who were complaining about the size of Los Santos before September 17th are deafeningly quiet.
