The cops have just ruined this game for me.

They aren't realistic though, at times they are onto you literally the second you punch someone, even though only pedestrians saw you.

Have you heard of cellphones, most peds carry them. hint hint.

Easily the best cop AI since the birth of the series, Its a huge leap from the gta iv cops which quite honestly where just brainless peds with guns.

The hide system is okay, I guess. I feel if they fixed the health we have which they probably won't we'd be at a good neutral ground. Seriously the second a cop even gets remotely close to you, you will be instantly killed. I had a cop look down an edge I was below and literally he one-shot me before I could even react. This kind of thing has happened multiple times too.

And even worse, I have npc's randomly attacking me and calling the cops for no reason, it just ruins everything for me.

I think the level of stealth skill affects how quickly the po po will come after each character. I've noticed, when playing with a character that has higher stealth skills, that the police won't show up when I perform a stealth skill or crime in a remote part of the city or in the desert. When I do the same thing with someone else who's stealth skill isn't high then I get minimum 1 star right away.

For me, Trevor seems to be able to get away with the most crap before getting a high wanted level.

They should tone it down a little, it's GTA. You're supposed to have some fun. I mean you accidently bump someone on the street and you have the cops shooting you in seconds. Also it does seem strange that you can stealth kill someone in the middle of nowhere and they somehow know about it and have police dispatched immediately.

Oooh booy, you think it's bad now?

Get a plane.

Get a 3 star+ wanted level.

Go to the ocean.

Watch the helicopters spawn out of nowhere right on your ass.

There are things that irritate me with cops. For example - I was standing near this cop today not even moving my character but he was facing the cop and all of the sudden I have a 1 star wanted level and the cop immediately starts shooting me? I mean first why did I even get a wanted level for standing on the sidewalk just because a cop was in view? Second, a 1 star wanted level and they start shooting?

And I'm finding 3 star wanted levels to be a real pain to shake especially during missions. Why is it that when they're chasing you with a 2 star your vehicle can EASILY outrun them, all of the sudden a 3 star and there's 5 police cars on your tail and no matter how fast a car you're in they can stay right on your bumper. It makes getting to a pay n spray almost impossible because of the locations of the pay n sprays and I almost hate using them because they aren't even really pay n sprays there all customization shops. Why can't their just be the simple pay n sprays throughout the world for you to drive in and get resprayed quickly in addition to the custom shops.

i think its a great improvement they seem to try and take you off the road more instead of just trailing behind and hitting the back of you now and then, and i like how if you get away from a robbery before they show up the don't magically know where you are they have to try looking for you.

has anyone tried getting into the prison yet? looks bigger and better than the one in 4 but haven't had chance to go over and close some sh*t yet :)

Sometimes it feels a bit excessive, but overall I feel it works great for 2 stars and above. However, I don't feel like I have the freedom to cause minor chaos like GTA without being wanted, or for a compromise at least reduce the time it takes for them to give up at 1 star wanted. I duck into a shop for the minor crime of whacking a club over someone"s head and have to wait for what feels like an eternity. It's fine for 2+ stars, but at 1 it's just annoying.

Why does it feel like people are always stuck in the "I want the game to hold my hand" mindset. If you're not prepared for change then you're going to be disappointed.

Let's face it, Rockstar could've taken the LSPD out completely and put the FiB in charge, can you imagine the amount of people who complain would say? I think the reason people don't like the LSPD is because they need to actually think on their feet and escape by any means necessary, if it was executed properly then you're going to get chased down.

It's working as intended, if you don't want to attract attention then stop doing things which might cause it.

You clearly had never played another GTA game before, He's not asking for the game to hold his damn hand, he's asking for that "Badass" feeling the others gave him, and i completely agree, the police are far too all knowing in this game. Stealth kills are effectively no better than firing a desert eagle into a crowd, and the cops will land every single shot in succession if you aren't in cover.

How can you "clearly" tell I haven't played another GTA game before? are you on my friends list? have I ever met you in person?... did you even know I existed until you clicked the quote button thinking you actually had something on me? of course I've played another GTA, in fact, I still remember the original very well. Along with GTA London / GTA 3 / VC / SA / GTA IV.

So now the OP get's a little upset because he can't do what he used to do in GTA IV without getting harassed by the Police Force therefore missing out on that "badass" feeling you were talking about. I get that.

Wouldn't pulling off a robbery, getting involved in a Police chase and actually getting away from it unscathed create that badass feeling? I know it would for me if I've done enough to cause a 5 star wanted level. Then again, that's me.

I'm not saying the LSPD are angels, they CAN be overly aggressive, they CAN be annoying at times and yes they DO have amazing accuracy 9/10 times but I deal with it and adapt. Rather then make another Thread which is basically a duplicate of many others overshadowing the same situation.

People who are saying the police arent too sensitive are blinded by love. I absolutely love this game but the cops in free roam are annoying at times. They do seem to have a X-Ray vision goggles. I have gotten to the point to where if I dont have a car and want to get somewhere, I just call a cab because if I steal a car Ill get a one star, leading to a two star for restiance. No matter how hard you try sometimes, it leads to a 15 minute waste of time when all you wanted to do is go to a mission. Its not a matter of fact that I want the cops to just lie down or its too hard, it's just that its time consuming and pointless, it takes the fun out of the chase if you dont wanna be in it.

lol turned off the game after I had 1 star, sped off in a sport bike. And then as soon as it hits 2 stars the cop car behind turned on some insane acceleration, knocked me off my bike, then proceeded to get out the car and blow me away. I was using cheats earlier but it's get annoying putting them in over and over. I wish they would release a no wanted cheat so we can have some fun for a bit

the cops suck balls. they are ridiculously easy to get away from most of the time. I hate how their cars have unlimited speed and they ram the crap out of you if you go straight, so easy to outrun if you take corners and get out of line of sight. I also hate how they spawn real close to you when you commit a crime in the middle of nowhere. Suddenly there are cops on all side of you? lame! They were much better in 4. I have not yet tried going on a shooting rampage but I dont think it will be successful, they seem way too aggressive and good shots and kill you quickly if you have lots of stars.

It's obvious the cops AI is not what it should be. Sniping a person and having the cops on your ass isn't exactly fun. There is a certain fun factor to trying things out and if the cops always end up being there to kill you that eliminates some of the fun of trying new things to see if you can get away with it.

It might if the cars actually required skill to drive and got damaged if you hit stuff. Its so ridiculously easy to escape if you are in a car that its really not that fun.

The only thing I hate is how if you stand around a ped to long, they call the cops

Lol I had that but with a vendor who seems to not vend.

I have yet to find a burgershot that sells a burger (sucks I have not eaten anything in days!)... but at the coast near the rides there are some hotdog vendors,... who seem unwilling to sell me hotdogs.

All I did was stand near the hotdog stand.... and the guy starts talking to me.. in what ever language... Than after a bit ... he comes at me,... starts pushing me...

I mean... really Rockstar? I want a damn HOTDOG! What the freck I did to this guy? I want a frecking hotdog!

So he pushed me,... I punch him... BLAM... one star.

I shoulda go and play golf.... Like .. geez,... sure.... my character does not need to eat as he is digital... right Rockstar?

haha, yea exactly. no vendor stands work, ive not found a restaurant you can enter yet, and they do call the cops or try to fight you if you get to close to them. It feels to me like the game was rushed out in a hurry and not finished. Im hoping the vendors and restaurants are functional for the online release.

Come on, man. Isn't it fun when their shotgun kills you in one hit? Or when they ram the sh*t out of your car on 1 star? Or when you find a great place to hide and out of nowhere the minimap flashes red and blue, even though there's no cop in sight, and you're out of their cone range?

Cops are fine, just takes some time to get the hang of them.. using Trevor helps. Maxing out stamina helps. Beign ballsy and fearless too. Check my channel for total and complete humiliation of the LSDP in GTA V.. in one video i kill like 200 cops, in another i escape them by hiding inside a police station... in my new one i go on bare handed rampage taking out a sh*tload of people, including lots of cops, and get away with it.

Cops are fine.. once u understand them u'll destroy them

One of the more fun ways I escape from the cops is to head for the hills, literally, most of the time they don't follow you and if they do they're not very adept at driving on uneven ground :)

The first bit I agree with but the rest of that comment sounds like you've climbed aboard the bandwagon a little bit and added your own salt.

I've been in countless chases ranging from different stars and not ONCE have I ever been caught in a situation were a 1 star LSPD Squad Car has even attempted the Pitt Maneuver or even ram. If that's your case then you're either crashing all the time or too damn slow  because at that wanted level they're pretty much passive in my opinion.

The LSPD go into random search patterns when looking for you, so turning up back alleys and turning off your lights will improve your chances of slipping under the net. I've came sliding around a corner like a boss and parked up in a drive way in Vinewood Hills while turning the lights off, the Patrol Car went straight past without hesitation so it DOES work. I don't know where you got the "even though there's no cop in sight, and you're out of their cone range" from because that's the first time I've heard of it.

Can understand that players who wanna just cause mayhem will be frustrated by reworked cop ai. For me the new ai forces you to approach things with more thought. You have to craft your way through the game which adds to the pleasure of playing this great title. Like the great damage ai e.g. Can no longer drive around at top speed and crash everything without potential for death. It's every bit possible to end up through the windscreen. This makes you play 'carefully' and better reflects if you like, the real world. Well done Rockstar.

Games are not fun there's too much realism. Heck, we play games to spend some time away from the real world! I don't really like the idea of cops being more realistic and more aggressive. In the real world you can easily get arrested if you do the crimes that you do in GTA. But what makes GTA fun is that you can do crimes and keep the cops away from you. If they make it too realistic then we can literally do no crimes in GTA, when GTA is a game about crime. If they make the cops any more realistic, then we can't even drive sports cars in crazy speeds in the highways cuz the cops are gonna be on your tail for breaking the speed limit.

games been out 6 days - just get use to it a little more... its all about the cover system and taking your time getting through situations. Running away is no longer an option and neither is going all out guns blazing and winning a 1 v 20 scenario. GTA IV for far too easy - police were just a hindrance.

you must be thinking of gta4. You can drive full speed in gta5 and bounce off of everything in sight and go from full speed to a dead stop and barely scratch the paint. Ive only flew out the window 2 times and im about 65 percent complete with the game, Im very disappointed the cars take almost no damage. You can hit way more stuff in 5 and get away with very little damage. in 4 you had to pay attention to your driving cause if you hit hard your car got F"ed up, in 5 you just come to a dead stop with almost no damage and keep on going, lol!

Pick your car carefully, a fast car will out run the cop cars in a straight line, and if you have the chopper after you, parking under a flyover is a good way to throw them off, especially if you can somehow change cars while under there.

There is a blue cone from each cop which shows you on the radar where they are looking, stay out of those and they will lose you.

I like their toughness. I don't like that they only ram me... But I guess they can't exactly pit us, what with the glue on their tires.
