captain45
A decent amount of time I spent in GTA IV was in between missions, pissing people off and getting the cops called on me, then it was a matter of playing the game of how long I could survive. A lot of times in GTAIV I could last a good 20 minutes with some fantastic car chases, shootouts, helicopter shoot downs etc etc. It seems now when I get the cops on me, if I dont evade them, its done and over with in a matter of a minute. While I like the new cover based escape system, and I'm sure we all love the cops to be challenging, I just think the challenge level was perfect in GTAIV and is a bit too much in V. Especially with them having a crystal ball and seeing every single crime I commit. It gets really old. RuiRuichi
What? I thought it was fun. I have to find a good spot to hide my car or sometimes just myself around the alleyways of LS. That feeling of adrenaline and suspense that I get when there's a chase and search going on is just great. For car chases it's not really a problem if you're using Franklin. Just use speed through the city by making lots of sharp turns, you lose the cops easily. Also in the countryside its amazing how a 9F can go up a mountain peak lol. My way of losing the cops in Blaine county.
GTASuspectOnFoot
They aren't realistic though, at times they are onto you literally the second you punch someone, even though only pedestrians saw you.
robbo216
They are easy enough to lose, even 3 stars isn't too much trouble. I think the problem people have is how responsive they are, and how ridiculously accurate their shooting is. You could be on top of a mountain, just you and a pedestrian, as soon as you kill them a cop car is 50 yards away coming straight for you. I don't get why you can't kill someone in the middle of nowhere (especially with suppressor/knife etc.) and get away with it. and having them shoot you with 100% accuracy from behind while you're driving away is just annoying... MCjingle
For those saying I'm a clown, stupid, play Saints Row etc... why berate me for my opinion? I LOVE this game, however I would never have clocked so many hours on San Andreas if the cops were an issue, I could do anything I wanted to do and it was fun. Believe it or not I don't play my Xbox and GTA seriously, that's what I do at work. I don't want to play as I would just going outside. What is your issue though? Give me a code to turn the cops off, my satisfaction and those of lots of others goes up so much and you don't have to use the cheat. What is the issue? Technobabble
I don't play GTA to play "seriously". I've never had to before, there should be no reason to start now. The game has been a huge letdown from previous installments. I'll tell you again, the police system in this game sucks and ruins the fun of the game for me and many others. I can't tell you how disappointing it is that they managed to make a GTA game where you CAN'T rampage for more than 2 seconds before being swarmed and killed. They changed a mechanic of the game that has been the main reason I played the game. I'm not interested in playing "seriously". That sounds incredibly boring and goes against the point. If I play a game seriously, I finish the game and then return it to gamestop. The last GTA was able to last me 4 years before it even STARTED to get old. I'm not even through the storyline and it's getting boring. That is unforgivable for a game like this. And I will add, I like the whole Line-of-sight mechanic. That was a pretty cool idea. It's just pretty much everything else about the cops sucks. I'd rather you go play saints row, GTA is not your game, bye. The amount of people who have never played classic GTA games, like you, Tom, is baffling.

Facepalm38
Well it is a little bit unfair. For example, others shoot you with any kind of weapon you can imagine, yet if you even pull the trigger for 0.00001 seconds, the police will hunt you down to kill you. PhillyPhreak
They are super aggressive, that's for sure. I was at the airport with Trevor and made a snide comment at two cops standing near the flight school and they opened fire on me. Shoot first, ask questions later. It does annoy me that no matter what vehicle you drive in during a chase, they can easily ram you off the road. Other than that, I like the LSPD. It's fun and challenging trying to get away from them. Edited September 22, 2013 by PhillyPhreak
JustRob
I also wish there was a cheat or something to turn cops off. When robbing a store, sure. The cops coming after you is part of the fun and so is getting away from them. But sometimes, I just wanna go to the beach, and beat the crap out of people. Or use my taser and go nuts on them, it's so much fun. But you can't enjoy that for long, because if you kill one or two people and stick around the cops will be there in no time to kill you. In short, cops are fun, but sometimes it's also fun to turn them off and go crazy. Unfortunately there's only cheats for reducing a wanted level, and I doubt we'll ever get a cheat to turn them off completely. That was never possible in previous GTA's either, only on the PC with trainers.
scipio1st
Well breaking the law usually means cops come after you.... So, because people who have stuck with the series since it's inception are mad about how easy it is to down you when you were a badass in every other game in the series; You made the DUMBEST ARGUEMENT EVER by saying it "Teaches a life lesson." Let me tell you something, if you are teaching your kids with Grand Theft Auto how to behave in society, You need to just die. I don't care how, just do it. WinterEdit
Well I like the police system on GTA V, but sometimes you'd just want to cause chaos around without needing to worry about police intervention... I'd liked the No Police cheat to come again from GTA: SA. I was a bit disappointed when it didn't appear in GTA IV... and even more when it wasn't on GTA V (at least for now, maybe all the cheats have not been found yet). jc0187
I have to agree with the op on this. I hate the freakin cops!! I wish we could enter a code to just tone them down a bit, not turn them off. If people want that hardcore feel of how they currently are, fine, but I would want them to ease up. I miss having a wonderful shootout till the military arrives, then steal their tanks. Bwahahaha! I want a tank.
Reaper Madness
The new wanted system is a bit harder than IV's wanted system and I like it, but sometimes cops spawn out of nowhere and when I commit a crime such as punching someone in the face, they are on an all out manhunt, which doesn't make a lot of sense. Zupexqt
Cops are stupid I can't believe so many people are defending them... If you want to set a car on fire with petrol in the middle of the desert, you get a wanted level. If you snipe someone with a silenced sniper from 2331239123 miles away you get a wanted level. If you stand in front of certain npcs for to long and don't do anything you get a wanted level. Just so many stupid things that they show up for, you should be able to pull off some sneaky crimes... Star system is just crappy in this game, I even got 3 stars for stealing a civilian vehicle the other day... I spend most of my time afk behind a wall waiting to lose wanted level
Mantonn
Nah you just suck. The cops are smarter, a bit more realistic, and I love the system. If they walk by you and you're behind a structure they won't know unless someone called from behind that area. So damn cool this game continues to surprise me. This is why I can deal with the cops It's really easy to run from the cops, even at 3 stars, because of this. 1. Get out of range 2. Hide and wait 3. ???? 4. PROFIT!!! I'd like to have the freedom of going a bit of rampage with a sniper from a roof, but after max 2 kills you have 1 star on you. Will be changeable with cheats anyway. ryoaska1
I haven't played it long enough to comment on difficulty of evading the cops since I haven't used the cover system for evasion yet, but to me at least they definitely feel way more sensitive (either that or just nearby a lot more often). I definitely appreciate the more realistic system overall, but I did like being able to have longer stretches of mayhem in 4; it does seem harder to just goof around doing random sh** without catching heat all the time. And even though it's realisitc in some ways, it's way less realistic in others (like some have said, getting stars in situations where cops would either never know, or you otherwise probably wouldn't have been spotted so quickly. I don't know why people are giving the OP crap though, everybody has different opinions of what's fun. He's not asking to take the cops out for everyone, he just want's the option to take them out himself.
CurtisC87
I got a warrant for just standing next to a store robbery taking place. I think the game activated something to where I am in agreement with the robbers.
Mantonn
Something strange happened me earlier while playing. I did the Lester-mission where you have to assassinate that guy on top of a scyscraper. Some blocks away from the area I got 1 star and when I came near, they already started shooting at me from ACROSS the street, so I hadn't triggered them at all. That's dumb imo. lazedout
People can shoot at you all they want in this game and no cops will come. What gives? game should be called GTA: Inconsistencies. When people complain about features they dont like people say "its a game, its not supposed to be realistic" then those same people respond to other complaints saying "its more realistic that way." The fanboys are just as inconsistent as the game. Edited September 22, 2013 by lazedout
