AcidAgain
Got the game the day it came out. Started freezing the very same day. All my other games work fine ( still do). Tried all the HDD cache tricks, still a freezing issue. So i start looking on the forums and there seems (to me) to be some correlation with the older motherboards being the culprit. Basically if you don't have a newer slim , you're more likely than not going to have a freezing issue. Check out this site, and see if you have one of the following motherboards.http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/how-to-tell-what-motherboard-your-xbox-has.136432/ . This issue is Just as much Microsofts fault as it is Rockstar. Patching this problem might take a while if it's motherboard related. Might not even be fixable. Rockstar "SAID" they took these last 6 months to refine the game...LOL yeah Right! They wanted to build up demand the biggest game in history. $$$
johnnylaw21
I am lucky enough to have an original "chubby" xbox,(sorry, the new one is slim so take no offense to my nic for the old one), but I am gettine a freeze up every time I try and take out the in game phone and use the snapmatic option. I was on a hunting mission and tried to take a pic of my prey and tried 3 times, each time it frooze and had to shut off and restart the xbox. Is this happening to anybody else with the ingame cell and how can we fix it?
freezerMan
I've got a 2006-7 model that went back to Microsoft to get the red rings fixed. Freezes before I get passed the introductory mission. No pattern (although I've not timed it) I've loaded disk 1 onto HDD and onto a new Sandisk memory stick. No joy. I've had the cover off thinking it may be a heat issue with running such a large game. Still nothing. Freezes every time. My next thought is do I buy another 360 just to play this game, when Xbox One (or PS4) is just around the corner?!
Mimen
Somebody posted in one of the threads that the game will not woork on xbox that have been repaired after RROD. But you will hve to hunt through the hot threads that have been opened instead of opening new ones about the same stuff. Thats the problem with people wanting spoonfed instead of reading through what is already there... you will miss out on a lot of info.
AcidAgain
I have The last of the fatty xbox 360's with the Jasper motherboard. I bought it "NEW" never had to get it fixed because i never had a problem until GTA5. And as of right now, it's the only game i have crashing my 360 , every game works like it's supposed to EXCEPT GTA5. I have been a loyal Rockstar fan, i buy "EVERY" game rockstar makes. This changes things. Rockstar said they needed the last 6 months to smooth out the edges for quality assurance purposes. Rockstars LACK of responding to this issue is discouraging. They got their billions why should i expect R* to do anything but count their money...

5titch
There's multiple users on various sites claiming their Xboxs from 2006-2008 (the primary problem, or so it seems) are fine. There are people with Slim models post-2008 that are having issues.

Well I have a 2009 Arcade model with the Jasper chipset, I don't see why the game would freeze for me, none of my games freeze. I have a 20GB HDD so ths isn't really an issue for me I don't think. I haven't gotten the game yet so I'll have to get back to you on that one. But then again, my xbox will be 4 years old next month.
mk_flow
Hi guys, i have a refurbished fat one with random freezes. here is what i did: 1. format hdd (don't forget to save your savegames and important files to a flashdrive) 2. clear cache several times 3. Install disc 1 to hdd. As soon as "insert disc 2" pops up, go back to the dashboard. 4. Install disc 2 to a flashdrive 5. Activate cloud saving and put your gta saves to the cloud 6. Everytime you start the game, load a savegame from the cloud first. (even if the savegame is loaded on startup) these steps work so far. At least for me sometimes it crashes again, but its way better than before. When the game freezes, its usually on the first try. Most of the time it runs very well after the first crash. mk_flow
Oh, and always use the cloud storage. Don't use the hdd or flashdrive for saving/loading.
