Remember the good old days of, oh, a week ago and beyond where you couldn't move for 'GOTG!!!' posts and nothing but fervent expectation and anticipation? And now it's all patch patch patch, broken this, broken that, broken promises. How fickle the entitled generation is!

 

Honestly guys... it's only a game! I mean, it's not like the end of the world if something about it doesn't work the way YOU wanted it to, or assumed it still would just because it was like that in previous GTA's. Rockstar change elements from every GTA and that's what they've always done and always will do for the CURRENT game they're working on and things that make it work for that.

 

Sure I was kinda bummed out over the car damage initially, but I can live with that and now appreciate it on its own terms, for THIS game, as well as accepting that the other things more than make up for that.

 

Lack of more interiors? Who gives a sh*t about interiors you can't actually do anything in?! you don't need Burger Shot's or Clucking Bells because you can replenish health elsewhere. Lack of hospitals to go into? So what? All you could do in that in GTA4 was shoot everyone, just like you can, oh, EVERYWHERE ELSE! It would be fun ONCE to go into an interior which is there purely for the sake of window dressing, but it's hardly something to cry about and post ranty whiny posts about it!

 

Empty city/lack of peds? Are you insane? If you honestly think that you've never played a GTA game before. Seriously.

 

Car handling? This is purely subjective but I prefer it now. It's more FUN! It was more realistic in GTA4, but I like being able to take corners at high speed, weave in and out of traffic like I was a born driver. I think the handling is an improvement. Sue me.

 

There were more nitpicking negative nancy posts that I could respond to but I can already feel the negativity threaten to overwhelm me!

 

There are various things that could do with being patched, sure, but nothing in the game is broken (expect perhaps the garage system, but it's just virtual money FFS...).

 

It's just a game...

Pretty much agree an is the TRUTH, Also To me it looks like they have focused with the online side of things too with there being ALOT more things to do co-op or alone.

The people who raised you or others has absolutely NOTHING to do with what people think they should get for/in their games. Yeah, some people did a crap job at raising their kids, but that should be all the more motivation for the kids to change themselves.

Whatever flaws this game has, it is STILL the greatest game I have EVER played. It hits on every important aspect of what a video game strives to achieve.

 

Graphics: Incredible. Especially considering the scope of the game.

Sound: Stellar, as expected.

Story: Rockstar has built a great reputation on storytelling, and GTAV does not disappoint.

Entertainment: This game NEVER lets up. It is VASTLY entertaining from beginning to end. This is by FAR the single most important goal of any game, and Rockstar NAILED it.

Replay value: GTA set the standard, and GTAV takes it to a whole new level.

 

Of course, NO game is perfect, and a game that takes on so much is bound to miss the target on a couple of things. In my opinion, these are some of the things I found slightly disappointing:

 

Interiors: Truth be told, I was certainly expecting a lot more in this department. Certain places REALLY left me scratching my head. Several places I was EXPECTING to be enterable and interesting were the AIRPORT, at least one major MALL, The PRISON, and a couple of SKYSCRAPERS. The CASINO is also a bit of a letdown.

Police and wanted level: The AI needs a bit of work in this department. They appear out of NOWHERE, and ram into you in a car chase as if they hit the nitrous oxide button.

Automatic wanted levels when entering the airport and military base were very disappointing. There isn't any way of using STEALTH to at least be able to SNEAK into these areas, making escaping with a plane incredibly frustrating. It would be nice to be able to get access with the proper uniforms and IDs.

 

These aren't game breaking issues, but slightly disappointing in an otherwise incredible masterpiece. Perhaps the ONLINE will address some of these shortcomings, but even if they don't, this is STILL the greatest game of all time for me. No other game has given me more for $60.

It doesn't matter WHAT the product is if the company lied about it and it is of less quality than it is actually worth. If you're just going to settle for something, please at least have the decency not to ruin it for those who care about what their money is going towards.

If things were promised and not delivered upon (Buying real estate in singleplayer, anyone? That was in the singleplayer GAMEPLAY TRAILER) we can and should complain about it.

 

I'm not one of those guys who treats rockstar like gods, and believes I should be paying hundreds of dollars for GTA 5 and not 60.

You threw away ANY chance at being taken seriously when you compared a few features that didn't live up to your expectations, to a "red ring of death", or a WRONG order at a restaurant.

I have no problem with being a 'smart consumer', hell I fully believe in complaining when things aren't as how they have been presented. But I really think there is a lot of vitriol (some real ulcer forming sh*t!) being directed at a company who has created a game that has delivered on 95% of what was advertised. I mean, is buying real estate in singleplayer REALLY that much of a deal breaker? It would be nice, sure, but it's hardly a game killer, irrespective of whether it was actually 'promised' or not!

The thing to remember about people demanding patches is that there is little to the counter side of things. Most people who thourougly enjoy the game probably don't post on here, it's made a billion dollars already, that's a lot of copies, I doubt even half of them post here, I still think it's GOTD(ecade), possibly the best game I've played yet. People just focus too much on the negatives, when really, the story mode is essentially a tutorial for GTA:O, that's where the real sh*t will happen.
