Am I almost done with GTA V? If I am, why is it so short?

So right now I'm at the uh..Cleaning Out The Bureau mission. Maybe its just because I powered through it that I'm getting everything done so fast. Please tell me I'm not even halfway done. I really dont want it to end. If this IS the end, then I'm a little disappointed. With the way Rockstar hyped up the whole "GTA V is a robbery game", I thought maybe I'd be doing a lot of robberies but..Up to this point, I haven't REALLY done a lot of robberies. This game doesn't seem anywhere as long as Red Dead Redemption OR GTA IV for that matter. So if I'm actually close to finished, then...This has gotta be the shortest GTA I ever played..And I played em all. Maybe they're compensating for multiplayer, with the whole "Over 1,000 missions" kinda thing?

I just dont wanna be done with it. Multiplayers still like..Two weeks away! And with all the stuff Rockstar mentioned like driving the celebrity away from the paparazzi as Micheal..I haven't seen that yet ata ll, and I've done all of Micheals Strangers and freaks missions. Maybe more of them pop up? Iunno.

I just got real anxiety over this kinda thing

Yes the story is kind of short if you just rush through it. But for me GTA was never just about the story missions, it's about the open world and possibilities and in that sense you have the largest rockstar world yet by far and endless things to do in the world. The side missions itself are probably as much as the whole main story.

It does sound like the online will be the main 'missions' in the game. Bank heists, robberies, gang wars, all these things were left out so that the focus will go onto the social club next month. Single player (as far as Rockstar is concerned) is only there as a template that the online will be built over.

Oh, and do not blame anybody but yourself for 'blowing' through the story. :santa:

Mission count isn't as big as GTA IV that's why, it shouldn't take more than 2 days if you put at least 8 hours a day even when doing the strangers quest at the same time.

Why is it that short? Not really sure, but for the small amount of missions it had, it actually did manage to equal how long it took me to beat the story in IV.

God dammit! What about San Andreas? That game was long as hell. I only blew through the story because I thought that was how you unlocked stuff..Like in the other GTA's. Man..In games like Skyrim or something, I could totally forgive myself for this mistake. But GTA? Hell no. I definitely aint forgiving myself for this.

The game IS shorter, BUT you should have paced yourself.

I have been playing everyday 4+ hours and am 38%...I'm taking as much time as I can.

Lol, why do you have anxiety? Remember, its only a game, so just relax and have fun.

The "driving the celebrity away from the paparazzi" is there. It just appears as one of the random events (little blue dot appears) that occurs the same as security trucks or other street robberies.

I honestly don't mind the short story. I'd rather have 70 well made, different, and fun missions than 100+ missions where most of them are the usual "Drive here/chase, kill X, mission passed". Through the entire story, I did not feel like I was doing the same thing over and over again, there was a lot of variation.

Dafuq, man?! Well, I can't help it if I haven't played video games all year. Besides, I thought the game was gonna have like..A lot of robberies. I saw the whole set up thing and I was like "Cool, this'll be a regular thing.". When I played the jewel heist I was like "Yeah, I wanna go in loud and dumb! I'll try the smart and sneaky way next"..But there was never a next!

the story is long enough... GTA Online will last forever though..

And the thing about GTA is that there are so many things to do after story is done too....Its a playground where you can do anything you want.

That's funny, because basically every mission aside from a few were exactly following this pattern, and it has been for every GTA. I don't mind this, since it's kind of the whole point of the game, but seriously almost every mission had you driving somewhere, kill a few waves of enemies, and then losing the cops.

What about the other stuff? Like exploring an immerse underwater world and running into other divers who were there before you? I never saw that! I never explored because..I dunno..I only ever saw ONE sub in the game, and that was for the mission?

It took me 22 hours to finish it when rusing through it. Although, I was REALLY disappointed with the very little robberies in the game. I felt mislead by Rockstar tbh.

See, that's what I'm saying. They made GTA V sound like a robbery game. Which I thought was pretty awesome.

I've done 26 hours and I haven't even done the second heist yet.

This is how it should be done.

Yup. Let's hope GTA Online doesn't disappoint.

And am I crazy, or did Rockstar say that we could choose our own breed of dog? Cuz they had that screenshot of the pet store..Maybe it was just a speculation article..

For GTA Online maybe?

I think the story is short, because the people that complained about GTA IV story being too long, were more vocal than those who liked the length.

I was hoping the robberies would be like a regular thing..Like you know how you pick your crew? I was thinking it was more like a robbing RPG or something..Like if you do a robbery with a poor gunman, he gets shot and all the heats on you. And then you'd have to pick a new crew member, and you could pick whatever place you want like how in GTA SA, you could rob whatever house you wanted..But what the hell, man? They said SEVEN major heists. I'm almost done with the game, and I'm pretty sure I haven't done seven heists. More like three or four

More bullsh*t rumours spread from places like this forum i'm afraid. R* confirmed that there was a dog in gtav, i.e chop. From there, everyone was thinking they could go out and get a german shepherd or border collie...

I'm 25-26 hours in and I'm 40% done. In RDR after that same amount of time I was 96% done. It all depends on how you play it.

So you know why it seems short 'powering through', but you ask anyway.

I just looked at my Social Club stats. Total playtime: 25 hours, Main missions completed: 6. That's just my saved stats, it's more like 125 hours playtime.

The only downside I see to stringing it out, is the possibility of getting plot points spoiled.

Well..Is there any way I can start over and still keep my sweet cars? Like a new game+ mode in other games. Cuz I just finished customizing a sweet ass car. And I was planning to save up for a car on the internet with robbery money..Its like 600,000 dollars but..I dont have that much. And besides..I agree that the missions in this game are just plain awesome and superb. I guess I didn't see it because I was going through so fast but..Now that I stopped and thought about it..This GTA has the best missions ever.

Edit: Actually..Nevermind about the car. Just as I finished this, I was going through an empty intersection, and this asshole just sped right in the side of my car and wrecked it. So I lost my temper and just riddled the dudes car with a combat MG until it blew up..And unfortunately, his car was still next to mine (I didn't see the petrol leaking! It was night) so..Yeah, my car got blown up.
