Games freezes for half a second every now and then? Help

Hey everyone.

So I just got GTA4 to do a game playthough for youtube (As everyone is doing 5 atm i figured why not relive number 4)

However when I went to play it I noticed it would pause every now and then as if it was loading the level.
I have a decent quality laptop that plays all my other games fine on med-high graphics with a decent framerate.

i7 2630 at 2ghz
8GB ram

2GB AMD radeon HD 7900 series

And like I said this runs most games at decent quality.

I have turned down graphics. loading distance etc but still get bad "Loading pauses"
Not the best when trying to record gameplay videos.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can try stop this happening?

how old is your laptop?

this is one of the main reasons we tell people not to play gta iv on laptops - laptop gamers have weird problems. it could be the power settings on your laptop, or the videocard drivers -- too many variables
