End game final mission email about stocks question(spoilers obviously)

Somebody posted yesterday but got no replies so I will ask again.

 

At the end of the final mission you receive an email from some guy saying thanks for killing Devin because now the stock for Marryweather is piss poor and he will buy all the stock and make a fortune. I took this as an blatant in your face message saying pour all your money into this stock.

 

Well I dropped over 20mil on all 3 characters on this marryweather stock that is like -300% I was wondering how long it takes for that stock to go up if anybody has done it? and while I'm at it what makes stock progress anyways? should I sleep in my bed or do missions or just sit afk or what? what do you have to do to make the stocks go up and down?

When I did the random event where the guy gave me stock tips, the stock for the company i invested in updated like every minute. It eventually stopped after about 15 minutes real time.

 

Not sure if thats the same for non event stocks.

I dunno if what you understood is correct - He did said he could buy back the deceased characters shares, because it will be at rock bottom price, but I heard on Weazel news the next day that the company concerned was "not continuing with domestic operations" - so I guess that means they effectively pulled out of the market, and I can't see how the price could rise
