No playable female character

Hey y'all!

There are no playable female characters (even though the poster and the CD include two smokin' girls, of which I btw would have liked to see them make a cameo appearance).

What do you think about this?

Should one main character have been a female?

(To the females) are you dissapointed that there are no playable female characters?

Nope, doesn't bother me at all. If the protagonists we're given are all good ones and work well, then I don't care about the other aspects of them and their gender.

I just don't think it would fit man. I feel like taking out any of the characters now would totally ruin the game. I was real skeptical about the whole 3 characters thing, and then i played it and saw that they kind of each show a different side of life. One from a black dude living with his aunt trying to make it out of the hood, another middle aged white dude looking for a purpose, and Trevor the straight up psycho. I think they did it the right way.

I don't really care about the gender, more about the personality and the character itself. Though it would be cool maybe to play as a female for a few missions, a tough one with a mind of her own.

One of the 'smoking hot' girls you're on about is a CARTOON photo of Candice Swanepoel. If you're that bothered about running around as a girl then just wait until online and customise a female character. The fourth slot on the character switch is for you customised character, which I think you'll be able to use in single player.

But now, let's discuss the female characters situation in the GTA Franchise. From what I'm aware, there has never been a female protagonist. I think this is due to the idea that everyone believes that most gamers are male (I am a male gamer myself and I don't have statistics I speak rumors).

If in the future, if there are multiple protagonists in one game like in V. I wouldn't mind to play as a female character, as long as she's bad ass. And by this I mean, Tomb Raider bad-ass status of approval. I do not want to play as a coke dealing Elizabeta, and I'm sure many other people don't either. I'd rather play as a female FIB agent gone rogue.

I honestly just can't see Rockstar bringing a female in though...

Well I voted Yes, jus bc I would like to see a playable female character, maybe a loco latin lady or a boss hoodrat lol, doesn't really bother me that you can't be a female, though (even if it did, you can be a female online if you want) but I think it would be a nice change & something different.

 

I played Saints Row 3 as a female character & I found it worked pretty well.

 

I have to agree with what the majority are saying with regards to, I really can't see there being a female protagonist in the story of GTA V, but maybe that's because I've already got it down in my head as being Franklin, Trevor & Michael...

I chose the 3rd option. If the plot incorporated one from the beginning, then it would be great. I don't think you could have done it well with V though.

 

If you did have a female protagonist, I agree with what others have said. She'd have to be bad-ass...Though, more of a Scarlet Johansson/Black Widow (her character in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers). She'd have to be able to keep up and seem like she belonged in the game, rather than as someone just tacked on to fill a PC niche. (Given how they did the plot for V, I'm fairly confident R* could do it.)

It doesn't fit in with the GTA universe.

 

This game is quite misogynistic. Every female in the game is either a whore (Amanda), a psycho nutjob (Multiple Random Event / Stranger Females), a bimbo (Tracey), an addict (Tonya), or a high strung bitch in general (Molly).

 

A strong, capable female protagonist just doesn't fit in. Don't get me wrong, I'd love one. I think a female rounding out the group (a'la Zoey in Left 4 Dead) is a great addition. But GTA is a very masculine game

 

Come to think of it the only female who flew under the radar was the hacker Paige Harris. But I think she had maybe 2 words of dialogue the entire game. Which just solidifies my point; they made her available to give a false sense of variety, but made her completely forgettable as a character.

As a female, it actually does not bother me in the least that there isn't a playable female character in the single player. I agree with others here that it would have changed the story entirely, and might not have fit in. But having said that, if Rockstar could ever find a way to incorporate a woman protagonist into a future GTA game, that would be pretty cool.

 

Plus, we have Online to look forward to.
