Do you think it was worth the long wait?

The graphics were worth the wait. My mind is blown by the progression of the HD virtual world design from GTA IV through RDR to GTAV, which is a graphics masterpiece. That was expected, and Aaron Garbut's design team over-delivered. It's beautiful.

Sorry to say, the rest of the game was phoned in. We expected so much more, based on marketing, trailers, press releases and Rockstar's magical silent treatment. We expected equal extrapolation from past games, matching the achievement of the graphics.

It was not just our own hype. Given that the Housers thought they were making a movie rather than a video game, maybe the game was a victim of typical Hollywood design-by-committee for maximum demographic return based on marketing statistics or something. I don't know what went wrong.

Definitly, and that's also one of the reason why R* video games are amazing because we don't have one every year and we always know it will be an amazing game, the community is trying to guess what will be in the game, talk about news and stuff while they're working on it ... They are probably the only company in the video game industry i trust 100% and i preorder their game knowing i won't be disappointed, because right now all i see is sh*tty license with a new game every year and xxx buyable DLCs ( not mentionning Assassin's Creed or the best ... COD )

No, it definitely does NOT live up to the hype.

It just doesn't, they tried doing way too much getting a lot of things wrong in the process.

If they'd only release it on PC, modders would fix the game faster and better than the assholes working there now.

We first heard about GTA V on October 26 2011 I think. Was late October.

It was worth the wait, but 5 years between games is still way too long. 3 years should be maximum.

Game as a whole wasn't worth it. Around half of year passed since the premiere and I've completed it twice. What is even more saddening I can't find the reason to turn it anymore, so I get back to IV. I definitely won't be playing V in 6 years.

Nope. Sometimes I wish I could have done something better with my life in those times of anticipating. Oh well, everything works out the way it does for a reason.

All of the people who actually put life on hold waiting for it have nobody to blame but themselves. I anticipated it as well and feel it was well worth it but I also had a job to work and bills to pay and a life to live.

I don't get where 5 years comes from. Were you guys waiting for GTA V right after GTA IV came out?

GTA V's development started in 2009 (And by development, I mean planning). Actual development likely started in 2010, because planning a game of this caliber takes a long time, and they weren't exactly in a rush (Unless there's some unforeseen circumstance, which I doubt because the game got delayed twice).

Also, the game got announced in late 2011, before then you had no idea V existed except leaks that couldn't conclusively mean a new GTA.

So, we waited 2 years. Not 5.

I admit, I have no life. But video games seem to make my life more worthwhile, and personally, I don't give a damn what anybody thinks about me. I stay in my room 24/7 most of the time, I'm either on here replying to threads, playing my Xbox, or watch anime on my computer. Not to mention, I am very socially awkward, have been my whole life. A job would be out of the question right now, as I still haven't gotten my GED yet and I have absolutely no way to get to work. No experience either, and it would be hard for me to work with others for being socially awkward as I am, it was bad enough when I was attending school until 10th grade. There are plenty of jobs over here, just no way to get there, plus i'm more of a part time job person. I've never worked before but hopefully one day I'll have a way to get to work and have the right job that pays well. As of right now, I'm completely broke and have to borrow money from time to time from my parents, and it's really embarrassing. I even admit my parents bought me GTA V, it was a reward for getting done with GED which i DIDN'T even pass. Well, one day hopefully things will get better.

Hell no. It's a very good game, indeed. R* and us really thought they were doing the best game ever, it all seemed incredible, but they underestimated the power of the consoles, the game would have been so great if at least the things they showed to us could made it to the final product, instead they wasted space with crap missions, unnecessary sound files and models, and so on. They changed the game too much last year, when I play it it's hard to think that it's the same game that was in Trailer 1. I get all nostalgic watching that, the game in that trailer seems to be way better than the final edit, all the beta stuff, fun realism, details on the streets, more vegetation, Skimmer, Hunter, more palm trees on LS, an alive game world... still hoping they will re-launch a well made port for new gen and PC with the details they originally wanted and deleted because of disk space... or maybe laziness.

ED: Does anyone remember something about a guy that would commit suicide because R* didn't gave information in so long?...

Actually, just under 4 years if you had an Xbox360 or around 3 years 5 months if you were a PS3/PC owner. Subtract more time if you enjoyed RDR.

I never knew of a GTA V until that first trailer in late 2011. It was two years and I did many things in between.

I have a life besides games so maybe that is why I didn't act so offended when V was not the game I made in my head. It provided many hours of entertainment and got me through this brutal winter where I live so it was well worth it.

Have you thought maybe he didn't like IV? Just like me when I finish IV I couldn't wait for V. To me V is truly better than IV and does lots of things right. Still isn't nothing like what we had in the 3d era.

What the Hell is with people waiting for sequels so soon after a release? Like, seriously...

Play the game. Enjoy it. Enjoy other games. Enjoy the announcement of a sequel when/if it happens.

People don't enjoy the new version of the title.

I know lots of people who can't wait for the next Call of Duty cause of how sh*tty Ghost is.

I played and beat IV twice. Did I enjoy the game? At first yes but it went away after I beat the story. Like I said before even though I put a lot of hate on V I still enjoy it more than IV.

Your example you gave with titanfall is a poor example. Its a new IP and you really can't experience it before. Games like COD, BF4, and GTA have room for improvement. Some developers will take it and some won't give a sh*t. At least Rockstar gave a great finish product compared to games like Ghost with its lies and BF4 with all its poor glitches and net code errors.

I was hyped enough to preorder. I will probably not be preordering another GTA game. Was it my fault for jumping on the hype train? Sure, but can you blame a guy after seeing those trailers and reading articles speculating this game's features? This is not a bad game. It's a GTA game with a bit of its own style which is fine. There's nothing wrong with changing things up. I can respect that they wanted to make this one feel different from the others. With that said, I feel silly for purchasing this at full price. It's a very large map with a lot of missed opportunities. There's a casino, horse track, fruit stands off the edge of highways, hotdog stands positioned on sidewalks, Fleeca banks that can be entered, a basketball court, arcade machines, new and familiar restaurants, etc. The problem? None of them can be interacted with. They're just there; city ornaments. It's kind of embarrassing when looking at how much interactivity GTA IV had going for it.

It's not a bad game but it's nowhere near what I was expecting from a GTA game created after GTA IV or even one created after San Andreas.

I know right, when IV came out the last thing on my mind was V... even after playing L.A Noire and Red Dead Redemption I STILL forgot that there would be a possible sequel to GTA.

Anyway, it was NOT worth the wait at all and it was nothing close to what I was expecting to see. Mostly everything about the game was a total drag, right down to the story and out of all the heists the game had there were still only 2-3 that were memorable.. the rest were just there just to keep the game focused on heists in the first place.

I thought this game would be at least a 9, never expected it to repeat a 10 like GTA IV had in many reviews and I was dead wrong, gets at least a 7.5 from me and nothing more thanks to the main focus being Online.

What can I say, I didn't get the game at launch. It's a fun game, Rockstar could have put more things in it but I know how it works in the gaming (and film/movie industry, I'm employed in this era) and time is a bitch. So if I look at the work that has been done in the time they had it's a good game. People are going to hate me for saying this but I wish that they used the more for SP than for GTA: Online. But that's just my opinion. But as said above me, nothing can live up to a hype. And ofcourse those pictures are made on a high end DEVKIT/PC and that's normal, I don't know why people are always getting upset about that? If you are creating a game or whatever, you always show the best resolution and the sickest gameplay, that's just how it works.

Woggleman: I wonder if you would be saying that if you saw the post he made saying SA is better than GTA V should be a known fact?

I don't know, but I find it pathetic that you always criticise the people who started to appreciate GTA IV later in its life and then admitting to respecting a guy who spends most of his time saying how GOTY awards are what makes the best game and calls people in this forum "fanboys" on a regular basis .

Like seriously what the f*ck?

As for the question, no. I don't think GTA V was worth the wait. It didn't feel like it had been in development as long as it did.

Gta V is forgettable. I completed it once. Then stood away from it. Even completely forgot about Devin Weston. I gave it another try. Tried a different approach. Took my time, tried different routes on the heists, did the epsilon missions and everything. Still, the game doesn't have an impact on me like gta 4 had.

@ woggleman

You really have a knack for making comments based on your own ill-perceived thoughts that don't really make much sense.

Did it not ever occur to you that sometimes it takes a certain set of events to make you realize that you may feel differently about something compared to how you felt about that same something before ?

Did it ever occur to you that seeing just how many flaws GTA V contains, has made many GTA fans realized that GTA IV was in fact a very good game, and this was not appreciated at the time ? Why are you so mad about that ? I don't get it.

People are human, they are allowed to make certain mistakes you know.

No. Rockstar should have just waited for next gen. I would have killed myself if i said that before gta v's release, given that most of us were desperate for the game, but now after playing gta v for a while, it is safe to say that it is a muck up major aspects and could have benefited with another delay.
