Misunderstood

The Broker safehouse was one of my favorites in the series.

I actually miss Broker itself. The most gritty, gangsta, and dangerous of all LC boroughs. Gotta play IV agaon soon !

My favorite part of the game was when we were in Broker (or was it Dukes?) at the beginning of the game. Everything was so gritty and run down and it felt a sh*tty place to live in. Living in that crappy apartment with the horrible clothing store and littered streets, the game did a great job at the beginning of making us feel like we were at the bottom and we were broke. This goes to some extent to Bohan as well. Those parts are amazing because when I get to Algonquin and look back at how broke I used to live, it gives me a really good feeling.

I miss only GTA III's Liberty City. IV's never blew me away for some reasons.

I thought Liberty City was beautiful and it felt as authentic as New York does on tv.

I don't miss Liberty City at all. In fact I still cruise around it every day checking out the sights and atmosphere. I have very little love with Southern San Andreas however!

Cheers.

Mr.Raspberry Jam

I loved it because it was different. Most of the GTAs were really sunny and the people was everywhere but GTA IV was different. I really liked the dark grimey atmosphere but I can't see them setting another game in Liberty City.

Liberty City was quite an interesting city : it felt rather big and there were a lot of places to visit. I usually hate cities with a grim feelings in video game, however it did not disturb me that much in L.C.

But I don't miss Liberty for two reasons :

- First, like many of us, I largely prefer a map with a city and countryside. The lack of wilderness reduce the map interest.

- And I've had enough of New York. Just imagine how many movies, tv shows, video games, books etc ... take place in New York, it's ridiculous, this city is absolutely overrepresented, I'm getting sick of this.

But L.C. had something that L.S. lack : a story. In GTA IV and DLCs, you have tons of different media which explain the story of the city. It's fun and over the top, but I'm sure it add a lot, as if those building, bridges had a real story behind them. It's totally absent with Los Santos.

(sorry if there's mistakes, english is not my language).

I'm tired of cities and fake wilderness. I want some boring mid-western landscape.

I don't.

Why? Because I can always play GTA IV anytime I want, and it's a better game.

Los Santos felt... Dead comparing to LC.

I miss the Art Deco and Neo-Gothic Skyscrapers. I miss the skyline in general. The Los Santos skyline is interesting but there was something special about seeing the Algonquin Skyline from Broker/Dukes and finally unlocking the Island and exploring it. I'm a bit of a "walker" in GTA, and the first time I got to walk through Downtown and Midtown Algonquin was one of my favourite moments in GTA 4. It was a unique kind of exploration that I don't think I've quite experienced in GTA 5 yet.

I miss the amount of people that walk on the sidewalks compared to Los Santos. LC always seems busier than LS, I miss that.

I miss the feeling of being in awe when I would walk around and take in all the incredible detail for the first time. Peds talking on mobile phones, payphones, Peds kneeling down to tie their shoelaces, Peds washing windows, sweeping floors, carrying their shopping bags, buying food from restaurants and vendors, Peds talking in groups, waiting at stations for trains, getting arrested by cops, peds working at the docks! - It seriously blew my mind at first and continued to amaze me for a long time.

GTA 4 is special to me for being the first HD GTA and really proving to me that the idea of a "Living, breathing world" was actually a reachable goal even on today's consoles. And as much as I love GTA 5, I can't help but feel R* haven't truly expanded upon that idea. There really isn't anything new that the Peds do in GTA 5, in fact there seems to be a lot less scripted animations for them now. They all look great and walk around the world as if they are a part of it but don't seem to do as much. It's disappointing to me.

So yeah, I guess I miss Liberty City quite a bit...

LS is more fun, but LC felt more alive

This. I always imagine what LC could have been if the vehicles and LSC from V were added to it, IMO that's the only thing that felt missing from IV to me.

You can polish a turd, but it will always be a turd.

I hope it is not put in another GTA game any time soon.

All of LC felt populated and detailed, there are plenty of places in V that look empty and unfinished.

I think that the main reason for this is the games went for different approaches, IV concentrated on story and a detailed 'next gen' world, V concentrated on features and gameplay.

Now if IV had some countryside behind Alderney, it would be by far the better map.

I'm hoping that if V is ever released on next gen and PC then some of the IV details that were removed in favour of new gameplay features will return (they've had long enough to add them in by now :p )

I'd like to see Liberty City again, but this time it should be bigger and better in every way imaginable. BUT......only until after we get Vice City.

No. Liberty City is boring. It needs something new. They should make a Liberty State with it's own countryside, mountains, forests and lakes! Kinda like GTA V except with Liberty City and not Los Santos.

Not 100% on this but apparently that was the way GTA IV was supposed to be but they cut it all out so that only the city areas remained. They have no excuses now because they just did it with Los Santos on PS3/360 hardware. If they can pull that off with such ancient hardware then they can easily do it on PS4/XB1.
