SPOILERS! Stealth.

I'm hoping somebody else can go out and try this just so i know i'm not going completely insane. I didn't pay too much attention to it until after it happened, and can't seem to work it out again now, so i'll explain and let you go and see for yourself and maybe confirm it for me

 

So, here's how it goes. At the end of the game all the outfits you wore during any missions become available as outfits in your closet (i'm pretty sure, seeing as i didn't see them previously, although it's possible they were there before. In fact, i started a conversation about wishing you could get them as outfits). Anyway, i threw on the "Stealth" outfit, which consists of black clothes, leather gloves and a balaclava. I went out doing useless stuff i usually do, and stole a black Phoenix and ended up getting myself some heat.

 

So, i was in a black car, wearing stealth gear, with the cops on me. My character 'blip' on the map was grey the whole time, like when you are hidden from the police, but i was just driving around, in this black car wearing stealth gear. In fact, there was a point that i was in the vision cone of a particular police car and he just continued driving, didn't pay attention to me or begin chasing me at all.

 

A few minutes later, i was in a different car, that was red, and i accidentally attracted the cops' attention again. But this time, my blip wasn't constantly grey, and they would see me if i wasn't properly hidden.

 

Is this a known occurrence? Have i stumbled upon something new that we didn't know about? Can somebody go and test it so i know i wasn't seeing things?

You may have possibly been beside another vehicle and he didn't notice you, I too never take this outfit off as I rob stores and armored vans, I've used hanged out with Franklin as Michael and I equipped both suits for them before hanging out, and we look sick together in Balaclava's .. except you can't rob liquor stores when hanging out with someone, I really wish we could rob the enterable banks in singleplayer also.

Just to confirm, i stumbled upon this again today. Wearing the Stealth outfit seems to cause you to be in 'stealth/hidden mode' when you are Wanted. Providing ofcourse that you got out of line or sight, as long as you are not directly next to a cop, they won't see you, even if you are in their cone of vision.

It's hit or miss, in the cone of vision, it seems.
I've been in the car that was "called out" over the police radio and had several police cars pass me.

The only (usually) reliable cop is the one in the helicopter, as long as you're not hiding behind another vehicle.

Possibly, i tried driving past a cop car that was searching for me, and when i got close enough they spotted me. But sitting at the side of the road as they drove past me seemed to be sound.
