Are most of the people on this forum legitimately disappointed in GTA

Yes I am disappointed in a lot of ways, all this hype and the game just doesn't deliver all that much. There is a topic here about things that were cut and for most of these I am disappointed

Large vocal minority does not constitute a consensus. So no, I don't think so. Even with some of the flaws people mention, some legitimate, it's still very a very fun and enjoyable game.

I think when the main disappointment people have with your game is that you can't enter the burger shops you've done a pretty damn good job.

The game is not sh*t but it is not as good as IV and SA.

Im curious as to what you think merits GTAIV being rated higher than GTAV? I can totally see why you rate San Andreas among the best cos...well it is. San Andreas blew everyone away and i think Rockstar have tried to recapture that vibe with this release. San Andreas for me is the best GTA game followed by GTAIII and GTA:London. GTAIV was ok,too small though. Just curious as to what GTAIV had that you feel GTAV doesnt have?Cheers

Kinda disappointed on few things, but at overall it's amazing game.

I would have been like tho that there would be more shops to rob like every of them, like in Mafia 2. Then I would have been like that there would be more missions.

Also maybe more clothes.

Anyways I understand there isn't them, but I still like the game amazing.

My only issues are lack of interiors, unable to buy safehouses (understandable), and lack of AA.

From all the streams and walktroughts i've seen they were able to buy safe houses and all of them were enterable, bussines arent enterable but who gives a sh*t, what is AA? And sure about interiors, but dont you think that sh*tty consoles cant handle that?

AA is anti aliasing. Nope, console can't AA a dx9 deferred lighting game. Needs dx11 to AA deferred lighting in a meaningful way that doesn't ruin performance. The passes they could spend if it were forward rendered are spent on the lighting in this kind of engine.

See the promo screenshots? They were taken from PC version. Downscaled to 1280x720p, from 2560x1440. Much like how social club photos are downscaled from 1280x720p to 640x360 - it is the same as super sampling the image (a form of AA), except this is post, through downscaling manually.

The official screenshots = PC version with lowered settings, but some still high - like shadows. Downscaled. Exact way it looks so different, exactly how the downscaled phone images look so nice.

Anti Aliasing makes the edges smooth, instead of jaggy. It can only be done in GTA with DX11 MSAA. The lack of it startles some, especially when most games are anti aliased in some ways on consoles these days. The size of GTA, the scope, it's the least priority on a console to AA that game.

I'm not quite disappointed about it, but just mixed. It's objectively larger than SA, but there's something amiss about it to me. Like it doesn't bring as much - at the time SA came out it was very groundbreaking, hell I feel that even IV was more groundbreaking at the time that V is. Time will tell how it holds out.

The only thing I'm fully disappointed about is the vehicle list.

Really makes me wonder what some people were expecting with this game. I've read so many opinions that confuse me. One that jumped out at me was about the characters not being likeable and 'total scumbags'. Um, YEA! What GTA game featured a 'protagonist' that wasn't? Me thinks they're missing the point. Either that, or they got spoiled on John Marston from Red Dead Redemption. Characters like him and stories like his only come around once in a great while. There really hasn't ever been a GTA protagonist that I've intensely rooted for. For me, these games are a release. They are a virtual outlet for my aggression and allow me to do the things I'd love to do in real life when I'm angry. The last really cool character in a GTA game for me was Tommy Vercetti. I never connected with CJ or Niko. But, Michael is pretty cool in V.

If I had to point out one thing about V that disappoints me, it would be them taking away the Burger Shot interior. I loved going in there in Part IV and hearing "Welcome to Burger Shot, Ma'f*ckaaaaa!!"

There are a few disappointing aspects, but overall its my favorite GTA after SA. The world is massively beautiful, I've been playing since the launch date and still haven't uncovered portions of the map. Im off for the next 2 days so I'm gonna hop out the car for a change and start exploring! Can't wait for GTA online so I can do this with a friend.

Is free roam possible with just one another person in GTA O?

It looks like the game is unfinished in a few obvious areas. I think they originally planned more features, but they ran into deadlines. They needed to get the game out before the next gen consoles.

Overall though, I am happy with it.

Best GTA yet. The only thing i'm dissappointed in is that you can't buy new safe houses but hey, it's not like i'm going to spend hours and hours inside a safe house. Also the game is running on current consoles which are really outdated and old. So if you were exoecting to be able to enter loads of interiors and still have the game as it is, then you're retarded.

When it comes to 5, I'm not disappointed. Yeah they could've added some more things to it and in my opinion, it seemed too hyped up but I love this game. On the other hand, you have to realize then when it ever comes out to PC, there will eventually be modding. Whenever that happens of course. Take a look at San Andreas.. It was amazing because of the features it had and the vibe to it made it feel like actual LS. Now look at all the mods they made for the game on PC. A ton, right? Mods generally make the game better, or at least the useful/realistic ones do. It makes the game even better. So once it gets to the point where V modding comes into play down the road, the game will be even better.

I don't know where this notion of "missing interiors" has come from?? It's just not correct. Elsewhere on this forum some guy has made a mile long list of all the interiors in the game.

You can't have EVERYTHING in one game you guys.

About the GTA IV physics... you'd never be able to make it up the mountain in anything with GTA IV driving physics.

Believe it or not, there are reasons why developers do things in video games. Whether it comes down to running out of time, balancing issues, gameplay issues, or simply the old hardware cannot handle certain things. You just have to accept reality and realize that they did all they could and they gave you WAY more than they needed to and you still have the balls to complain about it.

Yes im disappointed because they saved ALOT of content for the GTA:Online and I bought the game expecting a bigger single player experience.

Dont get me wrong I like the game, but im already done with it and moved on to other games. :p

As for me i'm disappointed! A lot of missed opportunities here and there, lots of scripted things, that are one-time accessible only and are heavily scripted, which destroy feeling of freedom in an open world environment! Like not being able to drive trains, enter many building that you see in the cut scenes or play only on certain missions, not being able to return to North Yankton, No weapons from the artworks and commercials are in the actual game and generally lots of hyped stuff, that were promised to be there isn't there, so R* lied to commercialize game! However with with all those downsides i still enjoy playing this game, just not as much as i could if all of the mentioned above would be in final game! The game is not completely bad, but its not so great either, its just well...average GTA game for me, which sure kills some time, but in no way revolutionary! I was disappointed with GTAIV and i still am disappointed with GTAV, just not as much as with GTAIV though! GTAV improved in many areas over GTAIV, but failed to improve over San Andreas in terms of stuff to do and amount of storyline missions and content in general! I expected V to beat San Andreas to a large extent in MANY areas, including arsenal! The way R* put it, they made it sound like arsenal of weapons would reach above 50 in total, but it barely reached 33 (with four of the weapons not even there for those, who didn't pre-order game!), no flamethrower, no katana, no chainsaw etc! But weapons isn't my only issue with it! Other being not being able to do paramedic, vigilante and firefighter missions (well at least those! I'm not even asking for such as pimping, quarry worker, trucker, valet parking, pizza delivery or courier missions from both SA and VC!) and basically a lot more of the stuff R* didn't put, but made it sound like they would! But still like i said i enjoy this game, just not thrilled with it as it failed to exceed my expectations or meet them at least! As for whether people like me in majority or in minority its really hard to tell, since we're talking about GTAForums and not the whole world! I'm pretty sure that majority of people LOVE and praise this game for what it is, with only maybe 20-30 percent of people sitting here bashing it! But you've got to take into account that this place is only for hardcore GTA fans and there's a rest of the world full of casual gamers, who only happen to play GTA time after time and who doesn't even know about these forums, so their opinion also counts!...

Hello.

I put maybe 35-40 hours into the game.

To be honest I did only the content that interested me:

Explored the world to see some easter eggs (probably not all there is to see)

The main story.

Most of the side quests (did not do the collection quests.)

Spent maybe 1-3 hours into golf / tennis / triathlon / darts / stupid yoga (I dont buy a GTA game to play those things really  )

Expected the game to have Gang related activities / Enemy Hideouts / Maybe a fight club (since the melee combat is amazing) / Random generated missions like Vigilante in previous GTA's / More Assasination missions / Drug dealing (we do have arms dealing but its extremelly simple) / Bigger and more detailed store robs etc.

Sorry about my english its not my main language.

Not disappointed here, Best gta to date for me (for so many reasons). Every great gta (ie every gta) will have some issues and such however this game is simply incredible. Discovering new things every time I boot up the game (and by new I mean never before seen in a gta game).

Only thing I was dissapointed was the real estate part... I'm not dissapointed because there is no real estate to buy (in SP), I'm just dissapointed that R* mentioned you can buy them in the gameplay trailer and seems like you cannot after all... other than that this game is a masterpiece
