Loophole to go into Fort Zancudo with no stars

Longtime lurker, first time poster but I found this loophole on accident and though others would like to know.

 

HOW

Start second hunting side mission with Cletus called Fair Game. After killing 3 elk, Cletus takes off you're supposed to kill your last elk. But instead just go explore whatever area of the map you want. There are almost no other humans around and all the restricted area alarms don't go off. I was able to just drive into Fort Zacundo with no stars and take the Lazer jet. Nobody tried to come after me and I flew around and parked the jet back at my hanger. Eventually I failed the mission because Trevor died.

 

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Go anywhere on the map including restricted areas. (when flying the warning for restricted airspace comes up but no stars follow)

Kill anyone including military, police and other NPCs.

Steal any vehicle you want including Lazer fighter jet, Rhino tank, or Titan supply plane.

 

WHAT YOU CAN NOT DO

Make A LOT of noise. Explosions will be heard by the elk even across the map and you will fail the mission.

 

 

HOW TO KEEP YOUR VEHICLE

Make an explosion so you fail the mission and choose not to restart mission, Now you are free to move it to anywhere on the map.

 

PROBLEMS

Titan doesn't fit in any hangers.

Rhino doesn't fit in some garages.

Prison has nothing interesting.

I literally just finished that 2nd hunting mission before I left for work! Gonna try just hunting see if that works.

i saw one car driving out there, a jeep and a big flat bed driving aound the base but got no stars, took the jet cleanly. gonna see if i can store in hangar while on mission

Random events with Trevor I think its in same town trevor lives in, you do one mission with Cletus than he moves and thats the 2nd mission that unlocks hunting.

Just killed two highway cops during this mission. It's confirmed you cannot get a wanted level during this mission. Pretty cool!

If you cause any explosions you'll fail the mission as the elk will hear you. I blew up a gas tank at the base and failed the mission. They really do have sharp senses.

Yeah no explosions or you'll fail. I went into Downtown LS and it was a ghost town. People spawned but very little. I only saw probably 2 cara after playing for 15 minutes. I explored the jail an I'm not sure what the point of it is. Maybe I missed something? It's not used in missions and you can't explore it (besides during this glitch) on your own time. Kind of pointless. I wish for a couple missions Trevor Mike and Frank got locked up and had to adjust to prison life before escaping. Would have been great. I can picture Trevor having "fun" in the showers, shanking people, etc.

yes, exactly how I feel about the jail, when I heard about it I was very excited but now Rockstar just doesn't do anything with it

I did this, stole the jet and parked it in my hangar at the airport. Didn't save in there sadly. Still a neat exploit though, and I was able to use the jet to fly over the area around the fort to uncover that part of the map at least.

They did that in San Andreas as well, there were a lot of buildings/places they didn't use in the storyline, that would have been great to lengthen the story a bit, like doing something with all those other casinos in Venturas, golf club in Fierro, and so on. Doesn't surprise me they'd go to all that work to create a prison and not use it.

 

But remember, there's always DLC. I predict Rockstar plans to keep this sandbox for a while, and build more content on top of it. "Los Santos Stories", as one example.

 

But I guess if this world only contained the buildings that were used in the storyline, it'd be a pretty empty place.

The jail, casino, horse track, dirt bike track all strike me as unused but valuable assets that'll come into play in GTA:Online.

 

If there isn't actual betting on horse races (that you ride in yourself) Rockstar will forever be labelled the Peter Molyneaux of open world gaming!

I tried normal hunting and yes you fail the mission if you get too far. I think the glitch happens only in the first 2 intro missions to hunting. *I think* but gotta try.

you need to hunt a few elk with him first, as the OP says, he will eventually leave and tell you to hunt the last elk on your own, then you can run back to the place where you started, take the dune buggy and go wherever you want.

 

Its after you hunt the mating pair (dont shoot the doe!)

If you fly the jet over the hunting grounds and fire missiles youll spook a deer and fail mission, cancel out rather than retrying and you can park in trevors hangar, then as trevor phone someone else to hang out, bring them to the hangar, switch over and put it in their hangar and repeat.

 

currently trying to work out how i can switch the titan over as its far too big for trevors hangar but would fit in the hangars at LS international

You can't put it in the LS Hangar. The wing will break off everytime you return to it.

I don't think it's going to work because you're trying to store it when you're on a mission, I have a feeling that things "reset" once the mission is done.

 

However, someone should take off in the jet on that long, long runway with this playing, it would make a f***ing sick vid:

Once you do manage to get a jet normally though, you can dupe it (store in hangar, make sure it's saved, roll it out, exit, take other character there and fly off with it) - it will still be in the other characters' garage. You need mad skills to actually get it out alive in the first place though.

Jet can easily evade the missiles. The Titan is alot harder to get with the military on your ass

I played around with it a little more and now see more or less what is and isn't possible to do during this in limbo period. I'll update the first post to reflect everyones input.

If nobody has figured it out yet, here's what you do. Get the jet (I did it as Trevor), land it, hop out and pop off a grenade to fail the mission, press exit instead of retry. I respawned with the jet next to me and managed to park it just fine!
