Things(interface/gameplay) you wish you knew when you started playing

So i made this thread about Arkham City a long time ago on another board and learned some valuable interface tools that i wish i had known before i won the game. GTA 5 carries a lot of information from past games but there are still things that surprised me that i had wish i had known before i started playing.

*This is not a thread about plot details or about the location of vehicles like planes or bikes or supercars or convenience stores(plenty of other threads for that information). It's about solely methods you directly input or interact with to affect the game.

1) i had no idea you could move on foot and shoot at the same time. I know 4 had this but movement seemed slower and you had to employ hte left trigger. Here simply run and right trigger.

2) You can use open containers( the types trucks haul) to conceal you position from pretty much everything. One of my recent 4 star pursuits ended with me wedging a tiny electric car into the claustrophobic interior of a container with an open door near Franklin's. As i remained in there sirens blared around me and hte helicopter lights at more than one time where focused right on the top of the container, i could tell because the light beams clipped slightly through the roof of the container. It was one of the most amazing moments of pursuit i have ever had in GTA gameplay. It also demonstrates something else i wasn't immediately aware of. You can actually use line of sight to break pursuits or end them entirely. Alley ways are particularly great at this but even parking attendant shacks work. It is not always 100% and on a few occasions i have found police cruisers working their way up parking structure ramps as my stars disappear but that's what makes it great, it's unpredictable.

Somethign i have known since 4 but may not be as well known is you can hold the down keypad to actually pull your view back on the minimap. This gives you more information and sometimes saves you from having to load the map.

I'm sure there are other things i don't know. Anybody discover something interface/gameplay based that they wished they had known from mission 1 ?
