Things that annoy me about this game

Loving the game so far, honestly. But some things annoy me:

1. Drive-bys and blind firing. Why do I have the hold the LB to drive-by amd wait a second for thje character to lift his arm up? I want to be able to stick my arm out and fire at will. It's so annoying--I've always liked firing at drivers in cars chasing behind me with single headshots. In V you have to just spray and it's annoying. Plus, why does the camera take so long to pan back to the front when I'm looking behind me? It just should snap back and not swivel so much. I could crash at any second at that point!

2. My GOD why is the in-door combat still so broken. I don't want to have to hold A to run and hold left trigger to aim and right trigger to shoot if I want to mildly jog with my weapon out--it doesn't work! It doesn't feel good! So many times the character will just be casually walking around with their gun held down in the middle of a firefight. Really dumb and quite unnecessary after RDR and IV!

3. Okay, I admit this is really minor. But you know what would be cool when you knocked someone out? If you could still see them breathing like in the Batman Arkham games, so they wouldn't just be flat dead on the floor after a slap to the face. I'm really nitpicking with this though!!

4. Why can't I roll out the way of traffic without holding and aiming a gun (or in the combat-ready state)? Annoying.

5. What's with the instant respawn after a death? I wanna see my ragdoll flailing down a mountain in slow mo..but nooo!

Yeah some good points, the camera pan when shooting out the car really annoys me because you cant aim untill your shooting. In IV you'd shoot where ever the camera was pointing.

3) I don't think you can knock people out any more. Pretty sure they just straight up DIE when you hit/slap them now.

this is a good thread, I have other complaints (mainly driving) but I think this is good evidence that there are many little problems with this game... its sad :( and I doubt it will ever change... not 1 of the GTA games has been innovative or mind blowing since GTA3 for me... the biggest addition from gta3 to vice city was clothing and golf and it hasn't really change since then... the cops have not changed, the AI has barely improved, lets not even talk about peds/civilians...

all GTA has ever done is gotten bigger but IMO it has not evolved in game play very much and the world feels just as bare as it did 10 years ago. I don't want gta to become the sims movie experience, I want it to be more like Zelda or MGS where your "infiltrating" gang hideouts and maybe even have some sort of bosses... but rockstar is too focused on realism and size/scale and it makes me sick...

crashing your car into a civilian head on kills the driver in the other car, but not you (not realistic, but funny)

if your not using your seatbelt you can fly out the windshield and fly 50feet down the road, but survive (not real)

Jumping incorrectly into a wall damages you (dur?)

running for to long decreases health (pointless realism)

Jumping out of a plane into water kills you (realistic but not fun)

if a plane touches anything even slightly, it instantly explodes (realistic, whatever, but its inconsistent with vehicles)

bouncing off of traffic at high speed only scratches your car (lame)

rolling your car from the hood to its wheels (so cheesy and pointless, just catering to casuals for the easier experience)

this is inconsistent bullsh*t, rockstar get with the program, GTA has an identity crisis! figure out weather your making a hardcore shooter or a sims game with guns. give us the options or make it consistent :miranda:

Bare? this games world is full of life dude, your crazy im sorry but that's ridiculous, i feel like people aren't even playing the game properly and are just whinging 5 seconds in, this game is innovative, super innovative, you are also wrong about planes blowing up touching anything i've done crash landings and have clipped wings.

Some more things:

Dogs and other animals killing you in one attack...oh great!! So I got jumped from behind by some meathead pup and i've got no chance of defending myself?? thanx!!!

Why can't I remove/add on supressors at will? I've gotta go all the way to ammunation just do THAT..??

The stealth movement is so god damn SLOW!! They removed crouching for it?? Yeesh

Has anyone a video of the drive-by mechanic?

I don't see any reason why they changed it. GTAIV has a perfect drive-by's, also balanced.

I find the drive-by's mechanics really important.

The only things that are genuinely annoying me is the fact that the clothes change when you switch, the noise cars make when they scrape each other (a horrible metal crunchy, unrealistic sound) and the whole car system in general.

Elaborating on the last point, what's the point in being able to buy a car? I thought that it'd mean it'd be there forever. If you lose it, it's the only car you can pick up from the impound - not just any random van you robbed and ditched! Why would I spent 150k on a car, when I can rob it from Rockford Hills and mod it up for 20k?

It's just stupid. You can put any car in your home garage/main garage and it stays! Same goes for picking a car up at the impound. Both those things should be exclusive to bought cars.

The only thing I can think of is that it's a hangover tied to GTA Online. As if they don't want the driver to have easy control over drive-bying in order to give that power to other players in passenger seats. Or maybe they just f*cked up, who knows.

In my opinion, what they needed in the game to make it feel more alive and complex was a hell of alot more interiors. Why can't I stroll into a fast food restaurant and buy a cheeseburger, and why aren't pedestrians doing the same? Why can't I walk up to the Taco shop on the corner and get a burrito for Franklin. Why do only about 1 in 5 gas stations I've come across have an accessible interior to the store? There's loads of instances like this: I'll see what looks like an interesting store or business and walk up to it only to realise it's just a flashy exterior with seemingly no point other than to just look like the exterior to a building. Hmmm I dunno. There was loads of potential to a add so many interiors and that would made the pedestrian behaviour a lot more variable and believable too. All I seem to see people do is just walk around aimlessly like in San Andreas. This is one of my only issues with the game. Other than that I think it's a masterpiece. Oh and I would have prefered not to torture that guy as well :|

5. What's with the instant respawn after a death? I wanna see my ragdoll flailing down a mountain in slow mo..but nooo!

Here goes me....

1. Either I don't understand or I DO completely disagree, there should be an aim setup just like in SR3 for shooting while driving.... not just a quick button press then start firing...

2. This one made less sense then the first, prob. b/c of punctuation.... so I'll break it up... you don't have to hold A to run... you can tap it to increase speed... just like in the others.... although in V the slow jog is horribly done... and okay w/ your gun out..............

this next part is sorta jumbled.... b/c you start talking about another feature in the same sentence without adding a comma or starting a new sentence....

I don't want to have to hold A to run and hold left trigger to aim and right trigger to shoot if I want to mildly jog with my weapon out

...what? anyway... aiming is fine...left trigger to focus, right to shoot.... you can jog better w/ your gun out... to run faster just tap x faster....

one problem is there is no crouch.... a crouch with the covering system would've made it damn near perfect... as well as a system to move around cover... (not between as you can)...

3. id like that... but it seems like another sacrifice due to current gen... next gen deaths may be better

4. Why can't I roll out the way of traffic without holding and aiming a gun

this makes no sense at all

What's with the instant respawn after a death? I wanna see my ragdoll flailing down a mountain in slow mo

this is a player preference... if its done right and not goofy... yeah...

1.) few problesm... no aim while shooting while driving.... horrible

2.) bought cars disappearing...

3.) need more car customization options... sr3 lets me color everything with a color palette.

4.) bigger city

5.) another city hub like area even if smaller with a few buildings...

6.)

7.)crouch

8.)patrolling cops

9.) smarter cop a.i

some more but eh.... and not mentioning any features... b/c theres a lot but im sure theres limitations... im liking the missions... and hope theyre as good online... and they include all the features online oh....

10.) free aim online... no aim assistance at all.... free aim only

I don't get complaints...i mean it's a $60 game and it's light years beyond other open world games..yet people still pick the dumbest little things to complain about.

Whats a dumb little thing? Name some... let's see how dumb they are... and what do you mean it's a $60 dollar game? You add that up times the amount of games you buy per year? I mean... if you game and value it... if not... why are you even on these boards?

The shooting mechanics are fantastic, they work a charm. I think whoever is having trouble "finding it broken" are just plain bad at the game.

I agree with severed. I was thinking the same thing today. I dont think GTA really knows whether it wants to be realistic or not. Some aspects are realistic, some aspects are totally out there.

Some things that piss me off:
1) Lack of interiors
2) People die when you slap them 1 time, or knock them out in a fight
3) Not enough combos for hand to hand combat (pretty much 1 counter attack from what I know)
4) AI really has not improved at all throughout the GTA franchise IMO. You cant even stick people up anymore, they all just run.
5) Car purchasing SUCKS. I buy a garage and can only store 3 cars? Even then they disappear sometimes. Why the hell cant I just park them in the parking lot of the garage and expect them to stay there? Better yet let me buy a show room. Come on, 5+ years of development should have gone over this easy point.
6) Car damage (subjective, but definitely toned down huge)
7) I would like to see textures that dont just pop up. Would like to be able to see cars/shadows/people/signs from a distance with some sort of detail. Flying over the city is hilarious, can hardly see whats actually on the ground, depending on distance of course. The view from the mountains at night is nice but thats not what Im talking about. Maybe next gen GTA will address this.
8) Car customization is medicare at best.,.
Really if you think about it the only way GTAV has really innovated was with the size of the map and graphics (although not a huge innovation in graphics. RDR was as good if not better in that department granted GTA is much more detailed) The AI has remained the same, and the game play has not changed much either. The pop up events are no different from RDR, the animals really look mediocre and pop up in lame abundance. The 3 character idea was cool and definitely a big change though.
Im really thinking GTA6 will be the huge leap everyone is looking for. I would love to see multiple cities that you would have to take an airliner between, how amazing would that be?

1. Drive-bys are alright but agree with you on the camera not panning back to the front.

2. Don't find this to be a problem.

3. This actually pisses me off a lot as well. One time, while playing as Franklin, I literally just slapped a woman on the street and she died.... I mean come on.

4. Don't know hat you mean.

5. Totally agree on this.

Me being a aircraft mechanic and seeing how the planes behaves makes me cry.

1. Assuming that the jetliners are based off of the 747 I would say that the airports are too small. They need at least 10,000 ft of runway space to get up. however on this game I can take off instantly.

2. Why do I enter the jet through the landing gears? I'm assuming that the jet being flyable was a last minute add.

3. The most powerful 747 engine produces around 72,000lbs of thrust and yet they don't blow the cop car over they are trying to kill you.(why would they attack a plane that has passengers on it?) I work on the F108 engines and they produce 32,000lbs of thrust at TRT. This means that you would have to be more than 900ft behind not to be affected. In other words the 747 engines should be tossing cars and people.

4. The max ceiling for the aircraft is TOO low!

5. A jumbo jet doing barrel rolls equal stress on the fillets and the wings ripping off. Also there is no stall.

6. Why not walk around inside the airplane? Also the planes are too small even for a "747"

7. many other things...

You do realize it's a game right? A game meant to be fun. If everything what you point out was implemented it will be too realistic. Too Realistic = No Fun.

You can have all of this fixed and still have fun. I think I would be more fun to race down the runway with cops chasing you.

It's Grand Theft Auto, not "loiter in a Burger Shot".

They're around btw.

Well here are things that piss me off

1. I find the cops really annoying in this game. Most of the time just one kill leads to cop chasing you. I have to resort to the wanted level cheat now if i just want to have fun or shootouts with gangs.

2. When the cops are searching for you it takes forever for them to get off your tail

3. Pop ins are annoying and game slows down a lot (especially during the game)

4. Yea I wish you can aim when in a car instead of shooting automatically

5. I don't know, i think they did a wonderful job at re-creating Los Santos but i feel like Liberty City had a bit more character. Felt more like a city.

6. I guess lack of interiors. I mean the map is huge i didn't really expect them to fill the game with interiors. Maybe Nex-Gen.

Overall it's a great game and the gameplay has massively improved over GTA IV & shooting is way better. The physics seem fine to me. Driving isn't an issue to me. Every GTA game has its problems. GTA IV had a lot of problems as well but i still loved it.

Overall it's a great game and the gameplay has massively improved over GTA IV & shooting is way better. The physics seem fine to me. Driving isn't an issue to me. Every GTA game has its problems. GTA IV had a lot of problems as well but i still loved it.

I actually agree on all those except 3) which I haven't really had a problem yet.

1) Cops are suuuuuuper freaking annoying. It's not a challenge, it's a hindrance. They need tweaked in several ways, starting with what you mentioned.

2) The drive-by mechanic is awful for me. Yes I'm kind of bad in some ways at the game, but I liked when you could point your gun out the side of a window and spray fools. Now when I try to do a drive-by, I look autistic.

3) Yoga. I've given it a chance several times. Hate it. Yes that's my opinion, but really? Give us a fight club with more melee options or a gym or something, F this yoga noise.

4) I miss paramedics being able to save people. I feel they could have improved this more, but now they just look at people and walk away.

5) The health is... pretty good, but I feel maybe the AI's gun skill should be random. Maybe you get a new gang member who sucks at shooting, maybe you get one who is experienced. With police, make their accuracy dependent on the stars? Idk, but everyone is a freaking crack shot against you.

6) Dogs should not maul you to death in basically one hit. Maybe a mountain lion or something, but not a dog.

7) The crosshair and yellow ground circles (like, park here, land here) colors. I can't freaking see them, at least in the daytime. Need to be brighter or a diff color or something.

-The rest I guess would be next gen issues, so I won't say anything more. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but these are my complaints so far.

What is really pissing me off lately is how characters change their clothes when switching between them or starting a new mission.

1. Driving

2. Flying is GOOD but could've been better tho! They should've implemented the need of getting to an elevated surface to get into a 747's plane door. San Andreas had this, and was more realistic in this situation lol.

3. No 32 players online. I guess the current generation of consoles can't handle it

f*ck you if you're going to call me a f*cking whiner. I'm stating some f*cking facts here.
