Tips on how to escape the cops?

Recommended Posts

The cops can sometimes be hard to get away from, if they close the distance and start shooting, you're in trouble.

Once you break line of sight (The radar stops flashing red and blue, and vision cones appear) hide in an allyway. Press R1 (ps3) to lean up against a wall behind cover and they shouldn't find you. Eventually the wanted level will disappear.

Exactly another Pearson who's not a retard, btw syntax323 your a fa**ot
No one cares if you figured it out after your first chase. No one cares if its easy to you. Not everything that's easy to you is easy to someone else. Give the guy a break, help him out, not criticize the guy.Wtf not once did I bash the op or call him an idiot like you called us, I was tying like these other guys to help the op by explaining what to do, your the one with an attitude, if you start bitching expect it back Edited by CaptainChronicV

I can almost NEVER escape the cops in this game. Especially on a Three Star Wanted Level. Any tips on how to escape them?

drive really fast or drive off road.

I'm sorry but I just think this is so funny. Everyone complaining about how the game isn't life like yet they complain about how hard it is to get away from cops. In real life if you steal a car, kill cop or kill anyone in public your gonna have the cops on your ass, in fact they will be so far up your ass you'd wish you were in a gta game lol.

the problem with cops is that they respawn too quickly
On 3 stars or higher wanted levels you can only lose them if you drive off the road like on train tracks or other places where cars don't spawn. If you are trying to lose them on a highway or another regular road, and you also don't have a super fast vehicle, then it's almost impossible (and when you do it's more about luck than skill). As soon as you lose a car or kill the cops driving it by shooting through the windshield, another one spawns in front of you almost instantly, so trying to kill them is basically useless unless you just want more wanted stars.

I like the "line of sight" system, but they should make a new spawn system that works with it. What I should be able to do is quickly get rid of the cars chasing me and then hide in an alley before new ones arrive, or be able to make a stand somewhere like an alley, where if you kill all the cops quick enough, you have a moment to breathe, hide somewhere without being seen, or steal a new car.

You have to use your immediate surroundings in this game, which makes it a bit more tactical. Basically, use anything to get out of their sight. Obviously it's a lot harder out in the countryside (like real life), but you can hide behind a hill, rocks, sewer grate, car etc. When a chopper is in the air, you have to get close to a wall, or under cover if possible.

I find the police search system to be pretty much flawless, while others have said it sucks.

The whole wanted system in this game is just messed up.

Sometimes I've escaped them just by going into an alley...they saw me, but didn't follow. I had a wanted level just appear about a minute after I stole a car (not hwen I stole it...) and was heading to my garage at Michael's house. Put the car in the garage w/o being seen, and went inside. They found me and shot me dead while I was smoking Jimmy's bong.

I've also hidden within no one's cone of vision, and they spawn right near me and keep chasing me. I've also had the level disappear even though I was in their cone of vision.

Very odd and very inconsistent....definitely the worst thing about the game.

If your near mountains, drive off into those. Your car will make it and just sit. If you still can't seem to lose them, creep away. If your in the city, just get away from them and while there searching just lay low, constantly checking that nice gps map rockstar gave us. They will lose ya eventually, in my opinion aside from the cop spawns its a bit more realistic. Squeeling your tires and peeling away just won't cut it anymore

I lose 4 wanted stars no problem. The cars take more damage in online so it makes it easier. But if your struggling the best way is to head for a customs shot and shoot out the tires of persuin cops they will crash hard and they lose LOS then just pull in the custom shop and your good.

Its so easy to escape them you for real? :/ It used to be way harder since you couldn't lose wanted stars from hiding.

Nab.

actually the rumour during the waiting of the release of GTA5, people said the cop cars will go into search mode like 'metal gear solider' and won't arrest you if they can't see you, so technically you can hide behind a car

well those people were wrong its a myth and so are you, because you said you can lose the cops by hiding unlike the previous gta

HOWEVER if you sit down and think about it its EXACTLY like gta4, because you have to EVADE the massive search area, THEN you are given a small window to stay out of sight

and the options to hide rarely work, eg. hiding in bushes and changing cars (as they quickly spot you)

i.e get out of their search zone then hide in the bushes so your arrow is gray hardly works , not to mention the massive time you have to wait before the wanted level disappears and in that time even if you have NO cops near you, during the waiting you then suddenly be back in their sights because all that waiting (hell i've been back on the gride and there are no cops)

I usually go into the underground construction site, ya know, the one you escape in the first jewelry heist. They tend to never go down their.

lol, great work dude, pity its useless in someways because the game will spawn one in around 5 seconds apart from the next one that got destroyed

trust me, it happens in gta 4, you gamble your hp because you're running in an secluded area like railway tracks away from the main city, no cars to steal, you can't hide as its open space, so you have no choice but to stand and take the heli down as its shooting you constantly, you finally do and just survive

you run for a few seconds and bam they spam a new one

in gta 6 they better stop with the constant spamming of spawns, what they should do is give a limited amount or at least a longer time gap in heli and cop car spawns

and why did they remove the SA method, i.e if you go into the country side you drop in wanted level due to the jurisdiction

the only way to survive in this horribly programmed game is to take advantage of its dodgy programming like getting in the underground subway or i've even fell into what i thought was a bond that actually leads through a tunnel into the sea, i was almost dead, the tunnel saved me

p.s i think the crapbox360 has a easier AI i noticed this on youtube, the ps3 version is harder maybe?

Since most of the best advice has already been covered, one little tip is to avoid the interstate after you have slipped out of a hot pursuit. If you're able to outrun the police on the interstate, do your best to get off of it quickly. Road blocks, stinger traps, and an abundance of patrol vehicles congested on a linear path will complicate your getaway, even if your vehicle outmatches the police.

Also, law enforcement has a hard time handling on train tracks. if you can ride the tracks into a tunnel, you should be okay for a few minutes, before the police search it.

The windmills can also be difficult for police helicopters, they tend to ram into them and crash.

I don't even bother. The police are so f*cking annoying in this game chases/shootouts aren't fun anymore. I just blow myself up as soon as it gets to 3 or more stars. R* f*cked up the police big time.

tip 1: never be on a bike, the game has no BRAINS whatsoever, if you are on a bicycle or motorbike you WILL get smashed off and run over, if you AREN'T dead its a miracle but whocares, because the game still has its long ass animation of getting up like in gta 4, you can be on the ground forever getting shot repeatedly as your character takes it sweet time getting up. Try that sh*t when cops have surrounded you, if you get knocked off load a new game because you won't survive and the hospital will eat $5000 off you if you are loaded

so if idiots who say cops aren't hard on GTAV go kill yourself that scenario is not possible to survive.......the only way to survive is cheat and use trevors ability which you a) have to have special built up b) BE TREVOR

tip2; go through tunnels they are guaranteed to work, theres one lower left side of the map near water front apartments and bridges, there is a tunnel near there, jump into the water and i think it leads to the sea, or go to right of the map in the city where the hairdressers are, there is a tunnel entrance where latino gang bangers do deals sometimes, you will ALWAYS lose cops no mater your wanted level, it goes through the sewers and eventually to the underground subway

tip3: traintracks will protect you, just drive on them then continue down the tracks, cops will never or rarely ever follow you, they at most spawn near the tracks infront of you to try get you off. Keep driving and you will eventually lose the cops or go through a tunnel and you wait it out

These methods are quite elaborate, but work for 3, 4 and 5 stars. Using them at 1 and 2 is a real waste.

1. Take to the skies. The only unit that can catch you in the air is the Police Heli. Grab a good plane and fly. Just stay away from the helicopters, circling around etc to lose the heat

2. Go underwater. Below a certain depth they stop seeing you. Scuba Suits and Subs are a great Boost

3. Catch the Cargo Train. The train stays on a fixed path. shoot the driver, then stay in a flatcar. Cops can't get you very efficiently, and the tunnels make great cover for losing heat.

4. Go underground. Cops don't check tunnels so well, so when the stars are flashing head underground.

People played too many easy games like COD to consider these cops as "hard" :(

Another great way to lose your wanted level (works 1-5) is to hide in that building with the big secret vault in it located in Downtown Vinewood, slightly west of the Cinema Doppler. The only two requirements to make sure they don't see you is to run inside before they reach the doors, then use the super jump cheat to jump over those bullet-proof glass windows, then just run down the stairs and hide behind a wall. If a cop is right next to you shooting you and you do the above steps, they will still "know" where you are and at that point, you either cheat to get rid of the wanted level, or just jump back over, run outside and drive around a bit, then race back to the building and try again. This could get annoying if not done fast enough, so if you can't really get it the first time, just go underground.

Recently it took me over 10 mins to lose the cops in a high speed chase. Sometimes it's super easy and sometimes it could be overwhelming.
