'Flashing' People

I have installed the disk one and am playing off disk 2 and it is mostly running fine but the majority of the people, main charcters and extras, are constantly 'flashing' as in they are dissapearing for a split second then coming back and this is happening constantly throughout the game. I have only played a few hours so am considering re-installing and starting again tonight or is it possible I got a dodgy copy? The game has crashed on me twice as well which is a bit worrying after just a few hours play, cheers.
