I just had a weird thought...

 

Johnny was a more serious character like Niko and the whole GTA IV and TLaD. Trevor is more gimmicky, like V is. The way they created Johnny´s death, they shat on Johnny and TLaD. But not only this. Perhaps it is a symbol that things will be different now with GTA. They´re sh*tting on their long time SP fans, caring about Online, Online, Online and Online again. Johnny stands for the good old GTA times, with a big SP and fascinating story. Trevor stands for the new way, with more gimmicky gameplay and big online multiplayer to cater to the new generation of gamers, all the ADHD kids who don´t give a sh*t about a good storyline.

 

So the new way of making a GTA is crushing the skull of the good old way.

I couldn`t agree with you more.

GTA V is a great game but it has 2 fatal mistakes;

1.)Mr. Philips mission

2.)all the good stuff is reserved for Online while SP got dick in it`s mouth.

 

You`re right, R* started to neglect old school SP players and giving more and more atention to that Online crap, ful of immature little COD playing kids- they even make fun of it by puting Jimmy in the game. Jimmy is a game clone of real life COD FP playing kids, the type of people that Online has been created for.

 

It`s a shame, if V had all the stuff Online has and with no mr Philips mission then it would be an awesome game.

This one really grinds my gears. Jimmy is the perfect example for these FPS loving little sh*ts, who think it´s the only fun in a online multiplayer game to troll and insult other players. And then they create the perfect playground for these pricks in the same f*cking game?! Adding FPV, this is just the icing on the hypocrisy cake.

i think you are seeing things, the way i see it is they wanted the player to hate Trevor, they were presenting us a psychopath,they needed to show he's a threat and they tried to accomplish it by making him killing an important character, it's like when in wrestling a a rookie beats a star, they makes us think, wow, this guy must be something!..

when the writing of anything resembles wrestling, you know you are in trouble..

i still can't understand why they added overkill and made Johnny K a drugaddict, waesn't enough to kill him?

No, maybe my posting was a bit ambiguous. I think it´s a unintentional symbol for how they treat their fanbase and trying too hard to cater to those new generation of gamers.

 

I absolutely agree that R* intended with this scene to show what a badass Trevor is and to introduce him with a big bang. This wasn´t the way with IV, the characters were so well developed, they didn´t need to introduce them like that.

Let's begin with another statement, the kind that is used quite often that I'd imagine most of you would be familiar with. It happens typically when a male in authority is addressing other males. The male in authority will say something along the lines of: C'mon ladies, let's... (whatever the thing is he wants them to do).

The point being, being called a woman should not be considered an insult or be used in a pejorative manner. Unless of course one wants to be known as a sexist jerk.

Ontopic, you`re somehow right but of course that TLAD fans will hate Trevor as well, not only Rockstar. It`s totaly natural.

If a contractor hires a hitman to kill my family then it`s logic that i will hate the hitman as much as the contractor, wont i?

 

Puppet or no puppet you can`t not to hate Trevor if you loved Johnny.

Personally i was starting to hate him after the Mr Philips mission but one mission later (that one where you go raiding the airstrip with Ron, i forgot it`s name) made me hate Trevor even more.

In the 1.st cutscene where Trevor discovers that TLMC trashed his trailer he says;

"this f*cking statue of impotent rage, this f*cking meant to me more than Johnny meant to anyone"

 

I can`t exactly describe why but this quotation really touched my heart, it made me feel even more bad for Johnny and it showed me what kind of non-emphatic prick Trevor really is.

If you are so f*cking selfish that you`d value some material silly little statue more than human`s life then you must be really sick.

Besides how he can even say how much Johnny meant to anyone? What does he even know? Johnny had far more people who cared for him than Trevor.

i read the part regarding Trevor, and i think the inconsistency is part of the character, it just gives a sense "i do wathever i want", besides, most people who have a serious mental problem like Trevor don't act in a consistent manner, in the history of V where things happen just because, Trevor felt more in place, i feel sorry for Michael and Franklin, they deserved a better writing, especially Michael, Trevor character can't get any more deep that him crying for his mum or asking for love in a pathetic manner, i don't think the character is made for storytelling.

You sure have some of the best topics on GTAF. I hope someone from R* scoped it out a little so they could get the idea what mistake they did with Trevor`s character overrwiting in V.

I didn`t read whole of it but a good part. I feel the same in many points. Killing Johnny and wiping out The Lost was indeed the bigest flaw but it isn`t the only thing that brings down V`s story/characters ratings.

 

I`ve wrote this a couple of times already so i`ll make it in short one more time.

Rockstar went too far with Trevor`s character. They overdid his personal characteristics few steps too far, to the point where he`s not to be taken seriously anymore, he`s not to be count as a protagonist at all. He is too cartoonized, he defines so many different characteristics combined into one person that it is almost impossible for the gamer to get even the slightest illusion.

 

Overreacted character development that went into the wrong direction. I can`t take seriously the guy who`s talking to his own shoe, who`s giving Michael a hard time for smoking cigaretes while he smokes meth at the same time, i also can`t take seriously the guy who can somehow fly aircrafts perfectly, despite him being high on meth most of the time, the guy who is killing the hitchikers and feeding them to the Altruisters, the guy who sexually abuses grown man, the guy who has a hard on for older women and who cries like a little puppy because his own hostage under the influence of Stockholm sindrome has to abandon him and return to her husband.

The guy who is supposely a cannibal and a succesfull carreer criminal, the guy who kills people and do funny things to their corpses only because he`s being called a Canadian or motherf*cker..

 

How the hell can i even identify with such cartoonized character let alone simphatize with him like i could with Niko, Michael and Johnny? Is this the person who makes any sense at all? Even the most f*cked up person with 100 different split personalities on this planet hasn`t half of Trevor`s characteristics.

 

And Trevor is supposed to be scary? Come on R*, what the hell were you thinking.
