The Driving Debate

I know next to nothing, and perhaps even less, about programming and computer files that control the physics. However, if, as has been said, GTA V runs on the same engine that GTA IV does, albeit with different file values, then wouldn't it be easy to have an option in the menu to run the game on GTA IV values as well as GTA V values for those of us who find the physics cheesy and cartoonish, particularly since the new generation of consoles can cope with far more than the previous one?

Neither was IV, until it got a lot of complaints, so maybe, just maybe, they've heard us and will at least make adjustments. I mean, they did respond to the pre-release complaints about police cars. It's a possibility, although I'm not very optimistic.

Rockstar have turned into cocks in recent time so I doubt anything will happen,

Played V on my older TV today, using an AV Multi cable instead of an HDMI. Looked and felt almost the same as a PS2-era Need for Speed game, seriously, lol.

Anyway, after playing IV for a while and then V again, I can only say that V's driving is simply disgusting. xD Tuned cars accelerate ridiculously fast and it's just ugly, I can't help but laugh when driving them. Stock cars don't gain speed so fast, but it still feels unnatural.

The driving in 4 is horrible. I started a new campaign yesterday, Vlad is dead, the actress that plays Michelle is horrible, the driving is sh*t, and Niko walks like a retard. I can't understand how people say 4 is better than 5.

No. They are probably going to change the top speed, handling, and other things in multiplayer. I wouldn't expect them to lie and bring back the horrible physics of GTA 4. Maybe they will also make heavy cars have more bounce to them, but I doubt it.

I doubt they change the driving. Maybe they tweak it though. I feel like in V you can get around much quicker. In IV you had to slow way down to make corners. With the map being so big, it's a good thing to be able to get around with the more 'arcade' like driving. I liked IV myself, but prefer V

I agree with OP, GTA IV has best damage effect in history of GTA series but as far as car handling is concern GTA V have better i don't know if its realistic or robotic but i like driving in GTA V its more in control.

R* already upgraded from IV according to them. If they wanted V to play like a six year old game, why would they need to wait for PS4/X1? I get where people are coming from, because I feel the same way about the driving physics in IV, but can we be honest? R* changed it because they wanted to, and now the majority of people like it, unlike how it was when IV released.

I (in my opinion) hated GTA 4's driving. It felt like the tires were coated in butter and the streets were made out of peeled bananas. Maybe they will, I just hope the driving isn't so cumbersome.

You're right, I guess I must've mistaken driving a car for taking a shower. You've driven more cars than I have in my life. Who was I to think that every car in that game drives like a normal, realistic car that was based off of a proper principle and example of real life. Of course every car shouldn't have body roll, or lean into turns. No, every car should drive like a slot car on a slot track, taking every turn at 10000MPH, because after all, that's what's realistic, right?

Well if you really think about it, a bus WOULD drift better than a limo, due to a higher zone of gravity, and more weight to throw around since it's a wider area and a taller height. Not to mention, buses usually use real torquey diesels that put out more than 600,700 foot pounds of torque. A Limo, while has lower gears and a more horsepower-oriented engine, has less torque and less area to throw around. So while the Limo does sound like it would drift farther and longer than a Bus, you would be wrong. So yes, I am f*cking Serious. And I don't know what you're talking about with that prop bullsh*t, maybe you confused Vice City with GTA IV. But like I said, I know absolutely f*cking nothing.

I seriously hope they don't ruin all the great work they did on the driving mechanics. It's leaps and bounds better than IV. The only thing I think needs some solving is the suspension and shocks area. I hate hitting curbs and my whole car tilts up like there's no suspension system. This is most evident with bicycles.

An Illegal immigrant coming over to the country (Especially New York) and getting their hands dirty is a better story? Done so many times so predictable everything was predictable in GTA IV imo. I thought GTA V had a great story... I enjoyed it much more.
