  1. 1. How do you feel about GTA V's driving mechanics

    • Its great. A huge improvement of GTA IV
    • I like it despite it feeling more "arcady"
    • Indifferent
    • I dont like it but I can live with it
    • Its terrible. Big step back from GTA IV

I've been playing Driver San Francisco lately and the handling, top speed, damage and acceleration is amazing and the roads are full of traffic :) I don't understand how UBISOFT can do this on PS3 but R* can't on PS4 Oh my god! the cop chases are non stop action :)

I use to love GTA V but now it's boring all the cops do is teleport in front they can't chase at all :( lame!

Bring on Mafia III !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RIP GTA :(

Funny you bring up Ubisoft because the driving looks really bad in Watch Dogs 2 trailers.

Driver: San Francisco did not have to balance on-foot, flying, and boating into a seamless experience. The last two times they did try to do that, they failed at it miserably.

Mafia 3's driving physics look awful, don't know what trailers you've been watching.

"RIP GTA" lol... Ok bud.

Why don't we call it the San Andreas Anomaly? Everything else seems rather fine so it's either an anomaly or enchanted/put on spell

And then the opposite would be the State of Liberty Anomaly.

Both are extreme so R* needs to go inbetween in GTA 6. Period.

Or another, more rational theory: after 2008 scientists in Silicon Valley started to work on extremely technologically advanced tires which make cars do sharp turns (90° or sharper) at 35-55 mph, and the first prototype was finished in January 2011. In February it was tested in some Los Santos districts and Blaine County. They were extremely satisfied with the results so the first tires were released to public in May and a few months later, on 24th October 2011, the Government of San Andreas proclaims that all land vehicles with wheels, old and new, must have those tires (not sure if i put this right, i'm not good at politics and i don't understand it)

Bump.

I actually find it ironic when a lot of people go "While it's more arcady than IV's, at least it's not as arcady as in San Andreas", which shows that they really forgot how vehicles handled in GTA San Andreas. The former's handling was a huge improvement upon the one(s?) of GTA III and Vice City. A closer step towards some more realism, which was improved in IV as well. The only thing I wished GTA IV's handling have is the vehicle speeds of San Andreas. Vehicles in GTA V on the other hand handled very similar to how it worked back in GTA III and Vice City. And the bikes? They're the worst! I mean, I know that Niko falls too easily from them in GTA IV, but the handling itself was WAY better. At least in The Lost and Damned, Johnny doesn't fall as easily. GTA V on the other hand made them WAY too acrady, so more than Vice City (which still isn't that bad to be honest, especially for its time, and giving the fact that it was the first 3D GTA title to future bikes).

Helicopters and airplanes on the other hand handled... too realistic? I don't know, but all I know is that it doesn't feel as entertaining as it was in the previous titles. Anyway, it just feels out of place when compared to the handling of cars of bikes, giving the fact that they, in contrast to the air transport, handled too acrady.

I think it's good like in SA and VC, easy to handle and quick response, while in IV it feels more like slow paced, not to mention the fender lift when we're turning, even in slow speed, which is not realistic at all, but then again it's only my opinion, each people have different views/taste, but for me GTAV driving is good enough not to mention it's combined with plane control, bikes, shooting, walking, swimming, boat riding etc so i think GTA is the perfect game for me at this time,

And to make it worse i think they're bringing the handling flags to the new cars because of some people who keeps saying that the GTA IV mechanics are better, but for me it's not, i don't like the stiffness and the blur effect in IV it makes the driving feels really slow and laggy, that's why i only play that game once, unlike the older games which i played over and over again because i like the sticky glued cars in GTA V, i like the versatility of the driving mechanics in V i liked it because it's easy to control...

I enjoyed IV’s physics soooooo much more than V.

With IV, it’s easily noticeable that they took into consideration important things such as suspension travel, weight distribution, acceleration, braking, tire grip, elevation changes.

Driving fast really felt like a challenge and there was a limit to each car. And each car had higher or lower performance limits.

Exceeding those limits would have you more than likely losing control of your automobile.

Driving in IV had a learning curve just like *gasp* real life, lol.

V toned down all of the above mentioned concepts to the point that anyone can drive fast.

As much as I enjoy carving through the Vinewood hills in my cars, the driving physics don’t compare to GTA IV.
