MAKA427
I finally got to talk to rockstar support and thought I really needed to give them a decent talking to. Me: "as i stated in my previous message, I have replaced the disc TWICE already. No difference. I wouldnt think that replacing the disc again would do any difference, when it hasnt before. This is a common issue as shown in this forum http://gtaforums.com/topic/594765-xbox-360-game-keeps-freezing-on-franklins-1st-mission/, and even on the R* twitter page, you guys are simply avoiding the issue. This is an act of a coward and i would of thought that a company like R* would of at least admitted to this game breaking problem. This is a disgrace. When Anyone spends a large amount of money on a video game, they expect the game to working properly." Brad S 5 days ago Hello, It has to be either the disk or the console. If you have tried multiple disks and multiple consoles then I'm not to sure what the issue can be. You can find anything in the forums, doesn't mean that it's always true. It's either you have tried a bunch of bad consoles or bad disks. We can do a disk replacement for you, there is not much else we can do on our end since we have tried all of the troubleshooting. Thank you-Brad S Some pretty much rockstar (or maybe just this wanker) is pulling a big middle finger salute to us, claiming that this forum is full of false activity. haha Dear Brad S I've have now replaced my disc FOUR times, with no change. I've tried TWELVE different xbox 360's and they all eventual get the same bloody error. This is atrocious. All I want to do is play my bloody game. I spent a fair amount of money on this game, and I expect it to work! (pretty sure thats a legal requirement as well) It's neither the disc's or the consoles causing this error, as they have been switched multiple times with no change. It surely is a error in the coding or something of that matter. It's pretty obvious Rockstar are trying to avoid this issue, blaming Xbox or just simply not replying this issue. There are not just people complaining on GTA Forums, But also on the ROCKSTAR SUPPORT TWITTER, where you are just simply avoiding these complaints. Seems a bit suspicious doesn't it? I'm sure a respectful company would front up to these issues? This is disgraceful for a large company like Rockstar. The GTA forums are people having the same issue and trying to fix it, as Rockstar seem too cheap and lazy to fix this issue, and to claim that some of these people are being dishonest. Yours Sincerely One of many disgruntled customers.

oli206
Just posted on twitter a screenshot of my support request to Rockstar. 18 days with no answer from them, I even offered myself to send my console to them so they can freely test it. I wrote my hard drive capacity in the first line of my request and they asked me about it 2 weeks later, they don't read what we write at all. It's so annoying... https://twitter.com/oli206/statuses/392192258612539392 Edited October 21, 2013 by oli206

Sid Simelia
I have managed to play this about 40 hours and only one freeze. The game runs really well, too. I waited for the Xbox Games on Demand version, so if anyone is thinking of that option, it worked for me..

Sid Simelia
No, the disc drive on my 360 doesn't even work. I was worried I wouldn't be able to play it because I have a really old Xbox though. I've only played the Games On Demand version. Maggot Army
The only way I'm able to play is with the ghetto fan mod. I have 2 foot tower fan laying across the xbox, blowing at the highest setting. Make sure if you try this to have the air blowing on the heatsink right behind the power button. cmck123
Haven't wrote on this thread in a while but have still been keeping tabs with it - just an update on my own situation. Had no luck with playing the game with my 2006 360 console, decided to return the game and forget about it. Managed to buy a cheap used Xbox Elite with a falcon motherboard off a friend who didn't want it anymore. Purchased GTA again and the game has been running like a dream ever since and it has been a week and a half since i purchased the console. Very frustrating at the same time as I know people with the exact same 2006 console as me (refurbished by Microsoft after RROD) and they had no problems. The game is very good and its nice to be able to explore the map past that dreaded prologue I had nightmares about it I tried it that much. Still keeping tabs on this thread though and still want a solution as I should not have had to buy another console to play it on
GatesBills
I haven't posted here before, but have been lurking since my issues first started. I've followed the tips and guides throughout these forums with little or no success. In the beginning, I just had to leave the game running. If I shut off my xbox or lost power, I had to delete the install, re-install, update, and could play the game and the online (which is what I really miss). Left for a wedding and expected to repeat the previously mentioned procedure when I got back, and the game now locks up on loading story mode. Upon re-starting, the xbox complains it can't read the disc. Delete install, rinse, repeat. I've tried various external flash drives, I've tried sandwiching my xbox with box fans and got slightly farther in the load process, but locked up again. I then brought in more box fans and a refrigerator, and was able to get GTAO to load, but my character fell through the map over and over which would have been infuriating if my xbox didn't lock up again before I could try different things. I am tired of exerting this level of troubleshooting into an off the shelf title. I am going to strip my xbox down this weekend and reapply thermal paste and might mod it with an extra fan, but at the next console launch, Im jumping over to Sony. I realize there are also GTAV problems on their console, but this is the straw that broke the camels back with me. I have a suspicion that its thermal.....and the thermal paste fan combo is the best I could come up with. It's the only variable that fits in with the variety's of hardware experiencing issues. I'll report back if anything changes.
hesselgren
havent posted here for some time but i can say my xbox runs super with the ghettomod/fan on heatsink. not a single freeze since mod. when i play i play at least 6-8h. finnished the game and all.. my only problem with the xbox is not related to the game, i have RROD every time i turn it on =P somtimes i can just f*ck around with eject/bluetooth button and make it work.. sometimes bend and hit the motherbord randomly, sometimes i have to take off all fans and let it overheat/reset.. archangel364
Hi guys and girls, im a new face to this site came across it from google search.. Anyway, ive got the old model 360 with 20gb hard drive. Im getting freezing all over the place now, however I have completed the storyline with no problems. They have only just started. Rockstar site says the storage error is due to older model consoles bein "more used hardware" ..,not the case tho, mine got rrod in 2010 nd finally did repair myself after couple years of search and using another 360 of same type. The one im using is the first ever console, was repaired in 2012 .. So 3 yrs of use in its 5 year manfacture time, so "overused" isnt the case I dont think
Eggtooth
I have Xbox 360 Falcon, 2008 model with HDMI, that RROD'ed once. It has 60GB HDD. I had no issues whatsoever with GTA V. Played it straight for 7 hours and had no issues. I have also friend with 2006 model and on his it does work well too. That's really sad to hear you guys having those problems. Maggot Army
Just a quick question? Has anyone tried using the Talismoon cooling fans or the gpu coolers they make. The replacement fans themselves are supposed to move more than 50% or more air than the normal fans in our Xbox. I've been considering getting one and trying them out....they're only like twenty bucks or something. Here is a link for one. http://www.modjunkiez.com/Red-Talismoon-Whisper-Fan-for-Xbox-360_p_549.html
purplebunny
I've given up on this game. Freezing reappeared on my second playthrough and can't be bothered to reinstall, again again again. I'll check back on this thread and the boards every now and then, but for now I'm playing other games (Dragon's Dogma atm) on my somehow broken console. If anybody gets news on this from R*, PM me please. Laters people. Edited November 1, 2013 by purplebunny
Ikkus
My friend wants his Xbox back. Now that I've played it a lot and the game has been patched a few times, maybe it'll work in my Xbox now! I'll report back tonight.

hesselgren
got so mad att my old xbox having so hard to start upp, rrod every startup is kinda annoying.. picked up a "new" (1year old) xbox slim yesterday. works kinda fine i think, have played some online today and i actually got one freeze, but i cant blame it on the console just yet, it may have been my laptop (internet connection) that was going to sleep.. i really hope it will work in singleplayer as good as my old ghettomodded rrod-box
MAKA427
I'm getting sick of this. I'm going to the New Zealand Commerce Commission, as they are breaching the Fair trade act. The fact that I spent my hard earned $$$ on a game that doesnt even work properly, and the fact that R* are simply avoiding the issue, is atrocious (and illegal, in New Zealand anyway).
