Yes I think they should. Sometimes my sports car feels like a tank. Literally I get shot, span out and crash everywhere and still no smoke is coming out of my engine. It's not very challenging at times.

You should rename this thread to "Should Rockstar Patch the Car Deformation?". By car damage I understand Car's health. Deformation, it's appearence being... f*cked up. GTA IV has exagerated deformations sometimes, so I like this one better.

They should indeed fix this, because it's a problem. Also, they have to change the vehicle handling or include an option to change it to the IV one.

I think the car damage must be changed.

I also think that handling needs to change as well. I know that a lot of you will say "This is GTA not real world." But to tell the truth, it feels like some racing game right now. If I want a racing game, I buy one, otherwise I expect GTA not to feel like a racing game.

Nope. I actually love the driving in this game. It's here to stay, sorry :colgate:

Fix the driving first and foremost I was driving the mini style car earlier and it honestly felt like I was playing Crazy Taxi.

Serious question, has anybody else had that frustrating moment where they can damage any part of their vehicle and drive safely onwards, but if you dare land on the roof, even though no damage is displayed there like - ever, your car explodes?

So weird how this issue is virtually split 50/50...

How anyone can think the damage is "fine" is beyond me. Is it just that you suck at driving and as a result, enjoy unrealistic, tank like cars? Doesn't that kill the authentic vibe Rockstar has brought us in the past?

Yes, please. The damage model is great, it just needs to be more sensitive. Seriously people, do you really think this is good? I cannoned my car into a tree at like 100 mp/h and all I got was a paint scratch and a loose bumper. Just increase the damage taken and it's perfect.

I don't like the damage system. Slam an 18 wheeler into a small car and you pop the hood/bonnet, smash the windscreen and maybe loose a wheel and have a little dent but that's it !

One of the best things about IV was wrecking cars to a pulp and now that's gone.

Apart from that this is one amazing game !

driving is perfect and car damage is absolutely fine.

quit f*cking complaining the lot of you.

I agree on the driving but the damage ? How is it fine ? You smash a car with a truck several times and break its lights, windows and bumper and knock the doors off.

Where is the body crumpling of IV ? It was awesome to rendor cars total wrecks

Lol @ "immersion" holy sh*t guys I have a real life, when I'm playing gta I want to play a video game... Not real life. Pretty sure none of us would do anything in real life that we do in gta.

Why are you wanting such a realistic game? Leave the handling and the cars be.

Not really about wanting realism as much as it is having proper damage. We're not demanding major changes, just something which makes the damage reflect one's driving style more and actually a good damage and deformation model.

Anyway, the poll is 50/50 right now. Seems half like and half hate it.

Yes just put the damage down on all cars, but still be possible to change the armor, so when you run into other cars, they will be damage like in gta 4, so if you reali want no damage on you car, then just get it armor. Com on rockstar its not that hard, too make everyone happy!

the damage is fine, the body panels are a lot tougher but the cars components (engine, wheels, etc) seem to fail sooner and more often.

i think the overall tougher cars is a balance check against the gas tank explosions and lower player hp. so far I've had the character die before the car starts smoking any time the damage wasn't cause by a explosion itself.

Wrecking cars is something that many people have enjoyed doing in the past in GTA games. We're not asking for BeamNG damage... but something that puts the epicness back in...

I'm not saying there isn't "damage" but it's not realistic in the sense that, it seems that Rockstar didn't include any "denting" models when it comes to car damage... kind of strange.

There really should be an option for "Don't mind the current damage models, but wouldn't give a f*ck if they changed it."

The car damage is fine for me, I've had car roofs being bent by tree branches, trailers being dented on trucks, tyres splitting and breaking more realistically, axles bending correctly...lots of little touches that weren't there in IV.

When I drove into a solid pole at high speed it wrecked my car and killed me instantly.

They dont need to change anything if they dont want to. But it would be nice if they did.

Its probably a simple case of leveling the traits of the vehicles. Ive seen a mod in IV before that increased the weight of a bobcat to match that of a big rig and it was hurling cars out of the way. This could be done in V by just decreasing the "hardness" of the vehicles by a little bit. I bet a pc modder could fix it in 2 keystrokes.

Damage is shocking, crash a full speed and only smash a headlight and scratch the bumper.

Seriously needs sorting in my opinion.

so far I'm happy with the damage. Had some lovely dents & scratches to full on wrecks, all in ways you'd expect.

This.

Yeah, I've had some iffy things go on but overall the damage system is not bad enough to warrant dozens of topics, polls, and a patch. f*ck.
