Getting a Terrible Resolution

My game looks BAD. ive made sure 480 720 1080i and 1080p resolutions are enabled on my playstation 3 but the game still looks so aliased and ugly, anything farther than a few car lengths ahead has REALLY jagged edges. I can hardly play it, so maddening. Is this game just ugly ?

edit: also I AM using HDMI on a 1080p capable PC Monitor

Yes, the game is jaggy. Have you become more accustomed to PC graphic recently, that may be why it's so distracting?

Maybe your setup does exaggerate it, but it is quite normal for a lot of aliasing.

EXACT same thing as me. Same settings and same visual "issues".

Don't get me wrong, the game is AMAZING! Truly a masterpiece.

But it's jagged as hell.

I noticed this too.. things don't look clear and crisp at a distance .. but like said above after playing with PC's for so long I guess it happens

I checked my monitor when game launches. Goes from 1080p at dashboard to 720p ingame.
On the PS3 (not sure about Xbox 360) the game seems to only be running in 720p.

WTF, that is awful

Im playing 1920x1080 on my BenQ XL 2420T which is not a sh*t monitor VIA HDMI and it looks pretty crap for me so its something in the game

game is dated looking because it's on ancient hardware. They did the best they could given the restrictions. Most ps3 games as of late run at 720p regardless

I understand the hardware is old (very old) but i don't remember the HD streams looking for jaggy :S

I need to go check again in case my ps3 Video settings are setup wrong.

I'm playing on PS3 on a 60 inch Aquos TV

The game looks AWFUL. Jagged edges everywhere. Anything a few car distances away looks so jagged that it hurts my eyes.

I'm guessing it's just the old hardware and lack of anti-aliasing combined with a large TV that makes it look so bad? Too bad, all of the preview videos looked clear and crisp

I think I may have fixed it a bit......you have to run the game in 720p.....I think I was running it in 1080p

To do this go to your video settings and disable 1080

It seems to be a bit smoother now. Still a little jagged but I guess that's from the old hardware and lack of good AA support

well I bought xbox360 for this game.

why? because it run natively in 1080p and it have antialiasing.

ps3 does not. I sold it long time ago BECAUSe that jagged endges.

I got the exact same thing, im on 360 though, I just went to tv preferences on my TV (Samsung, not on console options) took off edge enhancement, activated game mode, reduced the sharpness and changed the aspect ratio to 'fit screen' instead of 16:9. it looks slightly better and less jaggies, and because the 360 upscales it to 1080p it's not blurred at all.

XBOX 360 does not play the game natively in 1080p. It upscales 720p to 1080p. XBOX 360 also does not do any Anti-Aliasing for GTA V. It did on GTA IV, but does not in GTA V.

That's not a bad idea. I'll try this at home tonight.

Here is what it looks like for me:

CQZMyHw.jpg

My game looks EXACTLY like this one.

Extremely aliased.

I tried changing the TV settings, the Console hdmi settings...to no change.

If you look at this 720pHD video (

), the quality is very good and there is almost no aliasing (when compared to this screenshot)

I simply can't understand :S

Hm, this is odd. The game looks perfect on my TV. I haven't noticed anything jaggy. Perhaps your TV settings aren't optimized for gaming.

Please post an High quality screenshot/picture or even a video (10 sec or so), of you driving on a busy road during day time.

Just so we can compare. If you can ofc.

I could either take a crappy webcam picture, an iPod Nano video, or I can use some crappy Dazzle that requires me to play in 480p. Looks like I'm out of luck for taking a nice picture, but I could use my webcam. I'll be back shortly.

Well, as I said, the game looks fine but the crappy laptop webcam makes it look bad, but at least I tried.

If it makes any difference to you, I'm playing it on PS3 with component cables on a 42 inch Sony Bravia.

Thank you for your effort ^_^

If only I had a phone to take a picture. Yeah, I don't have a phone. If I need to take a picture of my games, I just pick up my laptop and aim it at the screen, resulting in bad quality pictures. What if I used the social club thing? Would that make a difference?

Scratch that, its down.

It probably has something to do with my TV settings. My monitor is:

ASUS VS228H-P 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

I need to check the option more carefuly.

Because like i said, i love the game. It is AMAZING, but it's so damn jagged aroumd the edges that it makes me sad XD

I hope you manage to fix the problem. Looking up your TV model or something should help. There might be instructions on how to adjust the visuals. Keep messing around with the settings and hopefully you find something that looks great. If you have component cables try them out to see if its better than HDMI. Anyway, I'm off to continue playing GTA 5. Good luck. :)
