colonelfrost8
IV was an uninspired, bland mess. V truly feels like something else and a return to old form. Trying to discredit games with vague terms like "magic", "soul" or "atmosphere" just shows that you have no arguments. Maybe you just have nostalgic feelings for IV, ever thought about that. As it stands right now, V is by far the best GTA there ever was. thats why i chose vc over 3 and iv. 3 was bland, so was iv more so.

x5x
I agree 100% Very disappointed. I have completed it 25%, today, and I feel like I've been playing fkn Saints Row! IV was a class above V... If V had the same driving, walking... physics and same car grafics as IV, it would be a 10/10 game. It has everything IV lacked, but lacks what IV had, if that makes sense? Chukkles
I'm loving the game but there are a few things I'm not keen on. Firstly, no tourist brochure game manual. 2. fair ground, 2 rides and no stalls open for minigames. 3. Maybe it's just me, but I haven't found a single working arcade game, not even Qubed works... The driving has been too dumbed down but I can deal with it. Edited September 17, 2013 by Chukkles

JOSEPH X
Although I beleive they have dumbed down the vehicles (I haven't failed a single driving part of a mission, lost a race, or been forced out of my car while wanted - and I'm not a good driver) V is still the better game. The downside of V though, is that you don't get the crazy things that can happen like flipping the car over many times or flying through the windshield. Because of the physics there were random happenings in IV that were really LOL funny.

screech
I agree, the loss of intertia when flying off a bike every time makes this game feel really, really constricted. Aaaaand.. I have no idea why they'd do that considering there were YouTube videos dedicated to crashing off motorbikes and watching how dynamic it was to go flying/tumbling/crashing. Now you just go a lousy 20 ft no matter what speed. This is probably my only complaint, along with how long it takes to get noticeable damage on a car, and of course handling (but the cheat fixed that for me) GTA IV did have that, but if I can just give my opinion on it. GTA IV had those great crashes, but they were sort of a laboratory experiment for people. Players filmed them and put them on Youtube and they're very impressive. GTA V is more about fun in a more functional world, not having to strive to keep the protagonist alive.

Gigabomber
GTA V is hilarious and heartfelt. Some of the heists could be better, but as a heist movie and a story with depth of character and humor, is it unmatched. Trevor starts off as a complete douchebag, but ends up with more depth than your precious walter white and yet still remains crazy; f*cking magical character. Michael is not too shabby either. Robbo1987
I felt the same when I first started playing, I thought it was overhyped and just missing something. however after playing all day and getting into the story and playing the game I love it. I don't know what the OP is on about saying it is "less free" wtf? if anything it's the complete opposite. It's not perfect. Some people are bummed out about the driving. But I can see through that and just enjoy the game for what it is. Fun. Like I say, the more I play, the more I appreciate the game, I loved GTA 3, it was revolutionary. Vice city was great fun because it was the 80's, San andreas turned it up a notch with all the extra aircraft, things to do and map size, and then when i originally got GTA IV I hated it. Sold my copy and didn't play it until 6 months ago when I actually completed it thinking it was brilliant and then finished BOGT, And i'm now seeing how GTA V has progressed. Rickin10
So far I'm....underwhelmed. The gameplay mechanics are okay and it's quite a technical accomplishment but tbh, the only thing i'm really enjoying is the script, which is frankly hilarious! PurpleRain
I consider myself a sort of physics junkie and I believe V is an improvement over IV in regards to physics. In IV you couldn't jump over a wall and catch your foot, or build up momentum before finally tripping over when walking down a steep incline. The driving physics are a matter of taste so I wont go into that. In V almost everything feels physics based instead of animated which gives it a very smooth, weighty and immersive feel. I'd like to the OP to go into a bit more detail about what he doesn't like physics wise (except driving! haha)

stockwiz
IV is the only game I did not finish... heck I barely started it. The complaints about the physics are moot for those on a PC where the physics will be easily modded, also the point about these being on the old consoles, nothing new... well they'll be on the new consoles too.. I believe they've been pretty much making a version for these consoles and PC the whole time and it's probably pretty much complete.. I believe they partly made the steering so tight so that the 'slow mo' would be more effective.. in any case this and San Andreas are the best of the series, not that vice city was bad.. san andreas just built upon vice city so much to make it irrelevent for replaying at least to me. How this online thing potenially opening up new missions will affect things remains to be seen. Edited September 17, 2013 by stockwiz

PlasmaFLOW
Why did OP move here? I guess it was the magic... Out of the unserious road, IV was definetely NOT the peak of GTA. The peak of GTA to me up to now was GTA SAN ANDREAS, however, when GTA V PC Comes out, I'll probably change my mind about that. IV was cool, it had such a revolutionary new collision system, the graphics, the handling, that... magic, however, it wasn't GTA magic... at least not that much compared to previous ones. GTA V went back to its roots. GTA V IS the peak of GTA for now. Edited September 17, 2013 by PlasmaFLOW
