BoogieManFL
The playstation network has always been what I would describe as shamefully slow. But for an 18GB download, it's just agonizing. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to utilize more of the available bandwidth? I've seen a lot of forum posts of people complaining it's very slow for them as well, but every now and then you get a few guys saying it is fine for them. If it were utilizing about 90% of my available bandwidth, it would take 65-115 minutes. However, at the current speed I estimate it will take just over 6 hours to download. This after having to go buy a new hard drive for my PS3, still had the old 40GB one in there which even empty couldn't handle the download/install. So I went and bought a 320GB drive. Had to install and update all that, just to be slapped by this slow speed is just terrible. I pinged zeus.dl.playstation.net which I read was the host name for PSN downloads. I then tracked the reported IP to Atlanta, GA which isn't very far from where I live in central FL. When I do a speedtest to a host in Atlanta, it used about 80% of my max speed. I thought well maybe for the reason the wireless is going slow. So I ran the same speedtest from my 3 year old smartphone and got almost the same speeds as my computer that is connected physically. So does anyone have any ideas, ports, or anything that I could try to get a more reasonable speed?
