Zancudo
If it doesn't look like a 5-years-in-the-making game to you, then what game does?

WoRtEx!
each time they make a new GTA they can use pieces from the last one as a base, A.I. logic etc. just have to fix them to be a bit better each time.
Malndor
They've spent more time with making online. 69 Missions Single Player. 700 Missions Online. I am 100% convinced that GTA Online is going to be where this game shifthttp://gtaforums.com/topic/592229-i-am-100-convinced-that-gta-online-is-going-to-be-where-this-game-shines/ Read that, will open your eyes. Zinthaniel
well explain why it doesn't look like a 5 year project. The fact that it is the biggest map, includes a fully mapped ocean with a ecosystem, a wild out back with a ecosystem, increased a.i in the peds, random quests like in rdr, every building and structure in the game is completely unique from any other and detailed, the shooting mechanics are completely reworked, the lighting mechanics are completely reworked... i mean the list goes on and on. That type of programming isn't done overnight it takes a lot of time. Plus the 5 year time span included traveling to los angeles commuting all over it to map it. Interviewing many of the los angeles citizens. It's a lot of research and programming. Edited September 17, 2013 by Zinthaniel
jukebox
no it took them 2 in a half years, and then devoted the rest of there time energy and budget to GTAO. 500 missions online and 69 for single player.... bit ridiculous, games now a days are catering to online. GTA should have stayed an amazing single player campaign instead of being an afterthought. Malndor

RedChuCKz_
This game over all is the best game of this gen, 5 years includes doing research and developing the game.
stockwiz
I guess if online is really the way these gaming companies are headed, mainly to prevent piracy and maximize profits, I'll have to cave and accept it. Just wish there was some universal standard so I didn't need 5 different things (steam, rockstar, origin, etc) installed at the same time for different game developers. Anyway the way to get around the cost of games is simply to not play them for a year or two after release, after all the expansion packs are out and steam is doing sales on them for half price. That's usually my method of approach unless the game is suspected to be among my top favorites, then I will pay full price. I will probably pay full price for GTAV for PC, like I did with Skyrim. If there really are 500 more missions available I will be happy. I don't care if it requires an internet connection. Marty892
each time they make a new GTA they can use pieces from the last one as a base, A.I. logic etc. just have to fix them to be a bit better each time. Yeah, it was like that with GTA III then Vice City and San Andreas. GTA IV was built from scratch (maybe they took something from Table Tennis? lol) then RDR took most things from IV in improved version, same with LA Noire, Max Payne and now V. Marty892
Just a reminder - Duke Nukem Forever was announced in 1997, released in 2011. 14 years! Real development time was like 2-3 years probably, but Imagine waiting for GTA that long
Malndor
Rockstar need to focus on RDR 2.
killahmatic
Blame it on current gen limitations, not R*. Its a huge upgrade from IV. I dont know how anyone can disagree with that. Bigger of an upgrade than IV was from San Andreas and that was a 4 year difference on a different platform.
