Well, the secret is this: when you take your pics in the game you need to allow a 30% overlap from one pic to the next, on left and right sides. this is because the outer 30% of each picture is the most distorted from the lens projection.

with the image above, as I moved from left to right placing each pic in MS paint, I cut the left 30% (or so) off of each pic before placing it with it's left edge covering roughly 30% of the preceding pic's right side. when you do it this way then almost always the lines of the road, horizon, clouds, etc. will line up, unlike if you just take pics with no overlap and then put them together edge-to-edge. some of the pics above towards the right end were spaced further than would allow the 30% overlap (it was easier to get the overlap with L.S. buildings as reference points) and the pics towards the right end were harder to line up as a result. some distortion on the end-pics can be manipulated with the skew option in paint (under resize) within 3-5%.

I want R* to introduce a photogrammetry plane with belly mounted camera and better altitude & attitude instrumentation. Then I can fly the entire island at low level snapping hundreds of pics in order to build a highly detailed and rectified aerial survey. (derp) OR R* could just give us one in Google Earth fashion.

sometimes I do. I'm a licensed Land Surveyor and I mostly map infrastructure projects for various DOT entities, flood control, and do quite a bit of land development (the surveying aspect). I've been exposed to survey grade photogrammetry as a result. It's an old art made fun and easy by modern technology.

When I was getting ready for our GTA 5 Olympics (Also found on this thread) I saw a group of people on the beach, never saw them before, mainly because I just don't really look, but I was curious if I could get a decent picture of them.

It is too bad that the in-game economy for GTAO can't (or at least hasn't yet) support something like allowing gamers to open a shop down near the beach, for instance, and sell their pictures as art work for placement in our LS apartments and garages, and that would allow pics to be used as a print on a T-shirt, or even applied to a vehicle's paint-job as a scenic mural on an engine hood, van-side, or across a truck's tail-gate.

R* should create interactive tools, much like the content creator, that would allow gamers the not-too-difficult creation of all kinds of clothing, tattoos, and art for our apartments, and all be for sale in GTAO in various street markets and shops....

time to wake up and rejoin reality... for now, at least.
