Will There Only be a Max of 16 Players in Free Roam?

I heard there's only going to be a max of 16 players per session in the free roam world. Is this correct? Which doesn't seem to be very many considering the scale of how big the area is going to be or is it going to be scaled down for multiplayer?

Yeah 16 players max in one game, it does seem like it's not enough for the gigantic map, but I'm sure as always Rockstar won't dissapoint! Don't forget it won't just be 16 players, but think of all the dynamic events occuring, missions, NPCs... Not going to lie though I wish it was 32 personally, just hoping it will still be an amazing experience

I don't think that's why. Probably becuase the consoles processor cannot handle such things

I remember sometimes 16 players in a death match on IV (which is pretty much what GTA-O will become at the start - a deathmatch) and it was mental at times, so in my opinion 16 for the moment in GTA-O is good.

Just a heads up but a member of the GTAO beta said that there's more than 16 players in a lobby. Maybe it was just an accident or he's lying but he's in the beta and we aren't so maybe they're holding it back.

32 player races would be immense but I feel Rock star would have told us this if true. 16 players is enough on this generation of systems.

There's speculation that there may be 32 player TDM and Cop's and Crook's gametypes. But for some reason I doubt that.. they would of told us and the box wouldn't say 2-16.. I hope it's 32 though

The only problem is that GTA V isn't coming on next gen consoles.

I thought they were re releasing it next year for next gen...

 

Anyways... they can put more than 16 players on cod or bf3 or other MP console games so why not this one. For DM and others maybe not but in free roam... 16 players is quite low.

Well in the source code of the game there are up to 32 players mentioned for the online modes. But this will likely be for either PC or PS4/XBox1. For PS3 und XBox you will only have up to 16 players. At least thats whats writen on the game box and officially announced.
