just-a-spaz
no we already got saints row and sleeping dogs with that driving Look, you know I respect you from the hair post we were both on before. But you'd be damn wrong with that. It's nothing like SR, nor is it as weird as Sleeping Dogs. The mechanic isn't that arcadey, to be fair. I've been playing the game. The driving is fine, and it's fun. There should be relatively no complaints. Yes it is. Hold the joystick left or right to flip your car back onto your wheels. Not even SR 3 had that. This is as arcadey as it gets. For what it's worth, I could flip cars over in GTA IV by playing with the left joystick, although it was a little harder to do. The New Blueguy
Now, I haven't played yet (still in class with an hour to go, then an hour to get home) but from I've been hearing isn't the only real hook with driving is that while every vehicle is different is the tuning to the handling when customized that really makes it shine, thus encouraging customizing cars and such? I mean if you're going to have all this money around why not use it to tune the cars how you want them?
Danny-Vain
Well as theres a war going on in these forums I just wanna say I personally dont like the driving mechanics. My suggestion to all of this, OPTION! add an option to keep both sides happy

kj2022
its exactly like saints row. we dont want that arcade sht it is nothing like Saints Row. yes it is Seeing as in Saints Row 3 the cars felt of nothing and may as well have been a rollercoaster on a track in every mission, I fail to see how. The cars in GTA V actually react to your input, where they can feel a bit light, they can become a handful if you're not careful. By no means is the driving "ruined" or "arcade" it's a mix of GTA IV and NFS. You can tell the difference between every single car, where Saints Row you can't tell the difference between a f*cking garbage truck to a high end super car. Omarock
Car steering now feels like saints row / sleeping dogs and we all know how horrible driving was in those games. Cars have no weight at all you can't even fell weight shifting like you did in GTA IV. How does this not need a patch? At least give us an option to choose between different handlings like they did in Mafia II. Edited September 17, 2013 by Tuniturntablist
Zeta87
What do you guys think about handling, seriously? Do you think a car should have a different handling if you're driving it on the beach or on the paved road? I think so, so show me the differences in this video: Do you remember how different was to drive in GTA IV on the beach?

Well it did remind me of saints row driving mechanics purely because of the arcadey feel it had. I don't know how you came to the conclusion on how the driving isn't arcade like in this game because it definitely is. I like the game though but the driving is the worst part so far for me. Sanjiswaytocool
The driving is nothing like Saints Row/Sleeping Dogs. To be honest, it's like a good balance between IV's, Midnight Club (But way better). It's responsive & fun. I've gotten used to it in like 5 minutes. Diastro
f*cking love the new driving mechanics! I was worried at first, but it's so much fun like this. Way less frustrating than GTA IV.
JohnnM96
When I got the game I was actually going to put on eBay. The driving just seemed way too weird. I kept crashing every 5 seconds and I was like "WTFFFF!!!!!" ....After an hour or two of getting used to the game and driving, WOW!!!!! its actually AMAZING!!!! The character doesn't feel sluggish like GTA IV(it did when I first started playing, however as soon as I got used to the game it was like it magically disappeared) The driving is a HUGE improvement. I know some hardcore fans don't like it, but they needed to make this game FUN!!!! since GTA IV was actually a pretty terrible game and the majority hated the driving. You guys can still use some cars that feel a little like GTA IV, just without the butter wheels.
GTA91
I've been playing for a few hours now and I must admit I was expecting better driving mechanics...whereas in IV most cars rolled about like a boat at the slightest turn of the steering wheel, in V they barely seem to have any body roll at all - it's as if they went in completely the opposite direction this time round. I was even driving a Dilettante at top speed, pedal to the metal and it went round a bend as if it was on rails Plus the way the vehicles react on sharp edges, such as pavements, seems odd. Cars are in general much easier to drive than in IV though, which could get quite frustrating at times... I also agree that the front of the vehicles seems to be very strong - in IV you could definitely make much more damage. However, I do need more time to see whether the above applies to all vehicles in all conditions. That said, they did fix the oversight in IV that when turning the lights on during the day, the rear lights would still not come on Overall though, despite being a-bit disappointed with the handling and crash mechanics, I've been enjoying my time with V especially the added decision-making given to the player. And I'll reserve final judgement until I've gained a-bit more experience, since currently I feel like I've only just scratched thw surface Edited September 17, 2013 by GTA91
Punk Noodles
You guys must be expert drivers, because I more than often slide out with the back of my cars during turns and stuff. Gnocchi Flip Flops
LOL. The driving is absolute dog sh*t and every real fan knows it. Every other kid that bought GTA5 without playing 4 seems to love it because they cant compare it to sh*t. ITS A COMPLETE DOWNGRADE. Games are meant to get better and be compared to their previous one. And when you go from realistic physics with responsive damage to every vehicle hits 200 and cant be dented it seriously changes the feel of the entire game. Also starting the game with amazing supercars isn't exactly satisfying either. Everyone remembers earning the lambo at the end of vicecity and how dope it looked. Now you start off in the hood but get a white ferrari off in your little shack garage?? Game just feels unbalanced. Are you f*cking kidding me? A Ferrari? I'm dying here!!! If you think a Buffalo looks like a Ferrari then you probably think you parents own a Lamborghini! Ha! Hahahaha thanks for the laughs!!! kj2022

Gnocchi Flip Flops
Albeit the handling might be fun, that doesn't always mean it'll always be enjoyable. I don't play new NFSs because the handling is stupid and repetitive as sh*t. I want in depth sophistication. Rockstar doesn't need to patch the drivinf, just give us an option via DLC or update though that is 99.9% unlikely to happen, it's just desparate wishful thinking. Double post, sorry. GTAspotter
Why not add in a 'hardcore' driving option, so people that prefer IV driving can use that, and people that prefer V can use the normal version.. everybody's happy.
