NTxC
I just got the game, and the driving in this game is truly awesome. Please, Rockstar, don't patch the driving mechanics, because they don't need patching. They're excellent just the way they are. Also, as a side note, there are quite a few peds on the streets (PS3 version), so worry not, fellow GTA fans who don't have the game yet. But you'd be damn wrong with that. It's nothing like SR, nor is it as weird as Sleeping Dogs. The mechanic isn't that arcadey, to be fair. I've been playing the game. The driving is fine, and it's fun. There should be relatively no complaints. Edited September 17, 2013 by SideburnGuru

Deffpony
The driving is a lot more fun. This is a crime video game. Rewdalf
Sorry, but... I was optimistic that the driving wouldn't be all too bad. When I fired up the game upon release though, I hate to say that I was disappointed. I can live with it, but it has been pushed too far into the opposite side of the "realistic vs arcade-y" driving spectrum... I welcome any possible patches from Rockstar in the future, and hope they might loosen up the driving a bit.
gdfsgdfg
This thread is supporting a step back on the GTA series with this ugly driving... This, the game is called theft auto for a reason, even gta 1 and 2 knows that a truck is slower than a car. Come to think if it, does the game contain a tank for once? Matt21
The driving sucks. Honestly i'm loving the game so far but fanboys need to stop acting as though nothing can be wrong with the game. AlasClarin
The driving is a lot more fun. This is a crime video game. Not a racing simulator It's all about vehicles. Did you wonder what are you doing at 80% of the time in GTA? Yes, driving. If driving sucks, then 80% of the gameplay sucks. As simple as that. gunziness, 1987_EC, Jameson312 and 2 others
jordanj56
Honestly I went into this game thinking the driving was going to be absolutely sh*tty, but after about 5-6 hours of game play, I have completely fallen in love with it! The only issue that I still have -relating to driving- is the damage to the front of the vehicle (i.e. bumper, grill, headlights, etc.).. Every other part of the vehicle seems to have a sufficient amount of damage. I think they could easily patch this though. Overall great game. 10/10 Edited September 17, 2013 by jordanj56 IMr_SmithI, ten-a-penny and Ronrollin9434
NTxC
I'm not a fanboy, there are issues with this game which I am not going to address in this topic, though. After all, I'm just really pleased with the new driving mechanics.

Every car felt lunky and slow. I don't see the issue. Is this game a bit free with it? Damn right, but it's still fun. People aren't complaining about the physics, because they're not bad. They're complaining because they didn't get ultra realism. People will get adjusted to it. It's not bad, they just don't like it. Like, I'm just going off what I've played so far. The driving to me has been fine. I still feel there's a challenge. It's still fun. You'll enjoy it. Go into it with an optimistic point of view. Realize it's not the same as 4, but you can still have fun with it. Edited September 17, 2013 by SideburnGuru IMr_SmithI

boxmonster
I too think the driving is a downgrade but don't expect a patch. The driving looks okay but what is really bugging me is the gravity defying of how a car handles the same going up a steep mountain as it does on flat pavement. the nameless
This thread is supporting a step back on the GTA series with this ugly driving... This series needed to go back! 4 sucked the fun out of the franchise with (but not exclusively) its heavy, slidey, non brakey, boat cars. I agree with OP. I can't see them patching it, but if they did, they could surely just add a single slider under controls in settings couldn't they? Stiff and slow at one end, fast and loose at the other? Off topic, OP, I love your avatar. As good as these 3 guys are, they will have to be truely remarkable to beat Ellie as my favourite game character of the past year or 2. NTxC
To be honest, I liked IV driving mechanics, and as opposed to what many people (who didn't play they game yet) say, V's driving mechanics aren't arcadey. When I think arcade, I think GTA III/VC's driving mechanics.

FranklinDeRoosevelt
Trust me, I just literally started with Franklin and it is pretty good.
