How sure are you that this is a minority when the top article on R* support is http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200148846-How-to-tell-whether-failed-installations-or-random-crashes-freezes-glitches-are-caused-by-a-bad-disc-or-console-hardware-issue ?

Just reading through these forums you'll find these issues are happening with every version of the game, DDL and disc, and on many different models of PS3 and 360. These are not minor glitches, like those further down the R* support page, they are game-breaking.

Mine for instance is a 250GB S that had freezing, lag, pop-in etc until Xbox Support provided me a temporary fix. It's also telling that these issues have made a major news site such as Kotaku however inaccurate their article may be.

R* support provides an auto-response when e-mailed, but you're right. The only way we can get these issues resolved is by complaining directly to R*, MS and Sony.

Trust me, if it was the majority, these forums would be a hell of a lot busier. Just look at the poll in this thread.

Perhaps the majority are more willing to put up with poor framerates, bad textures or freezing issues? Either way it's guesswork. I just hope enough people are reporting these issues so that those that have them get some sort of fix/patch.

EDIT: Looking at the poll, 2/3 users are having some sort of issue with the game. Of course, the people here came looking for technical support. I only joined myself when I wasn't getting any help from the official site.

Heh, I remember these forums back when IV released for PC. This is nothing compared to that sh*tstorm.

Granted, PC users tend to be more literate when it comes to voicing and troubleshooting problems, but the discrepancy is too high for that to be the only reason.

I'm sure the net would be going apesh*t if the problems were more widespread. You're right in that it's guesswork - but it's a pretty educated guess with a decent amount of evidence to back it up.

Ha. I would have said more vocal, but literate works. I don't see evidence either way, but the people I know and the people on here (anecdotal evidence, sure) have all experienced some sort of technical issue. The one thing that irked me is R* openly blaming hardware when these issues seem to be happening on every model of both consoles.

Once again, I hope the people that are experiencing problems are vocal enough that we get some sort of patch/fix.

I think Rockstar are somewhat justified in blaming some hardware configurations for some problems, but yeah, for a lot of the bugs i've seen, it's definitely on their side of the fence as opposed to the console owners. Having said that, a lot of console owners seem to be oblivious to basic console upkeep and maintenance, and I think this comes into play with some of the issues.

I agree with you though, and as I said, Rockstar are hopefully working their butts off to try and get the game-breaking issues sorted before GTAO hits, because that, with all the server issues they're having already, is going to be a whole new world of pain. I'm hoping that the mods here open up a new GTAO troubleshooting sub forum for it, because I think we're going to need it.

I disagree on the whole console upkeep comment. If you were able to keep a non-hdmi Xbox running games without problem with all of it's sh*tty design flaws for this long then i'd say you take care of your stuff. If all games were affected then I'd agree our consoles are failing but GTA V is the only game affected so this is a Rockstar/Microsoft problem.

Microsoft should have nutted up and recalled all 360 consoles regardless of hardware failure back in the day and replaced them all with a new revision, instead they do a half assed repair to consoles that failed already and then pushed out like 7 revisions of the thing to keep the console price up.

I recently bought a bullet proof vest and an Assault rifle for Trevor but when I click r1 they are not there. How do I find them? Please help

I'm giving the game back if this isn't fixed.

Everything was fine at the start, ever since I unlocked Trevor the texture pop-in has been ridiculous.

Oily buildings and bridges in the distance, mountains look like terrain from Fallout 3. Bushes, trees, sign-posts, pedestrians appearing out of nowhere. It was all working perfect before, now it's unbearable.

It's as if the draw distance has gradually deteriorated since I reached the outer Los Santos area.

I feel scammed by Rockstar here.

I'm on an Xbox and haven't installed the play disc.

Hugely disappointed. I was enjoying the game so much.

Same here. I play on PS3 FAT 80GB with the disc version, the game WAS incredibly (maybe too much?) beautiful no texture/fps/aliasing/rendering/etcetc problems at all.

Then, after 30 hours (70-80% of missions completed) it became worse and worse and now I see aliasing everywhere, I see textures loading in front of me, objects appearing from nowhere and more.

The safe mode technique was unsucessful. So if anyone has a solution...

I'm on ps3 and the game played well the first few days. once i got to about mission 59 it started freezing alot to the point of needing a forced reset. people might not be having problems yet because they aren't far enough in.

usually crashes when i'm driving fast about 20 minutes after starting. this is not cool.

last night i was 26 minutes into the last triathlon and it froze up losing all that x tapping progress.

I finished the game days ago dude and have had zero problems. People are having issues from the start of the game all the way through to the end, the only thing that seems to be tied to how far into the game you are is the Strip Club.

Actually, I lie - I did have one little bug tonight. Was in Michaels house, surfing the net on his phone, when the net crashed and he was stuck looking at his phone screen. Could run around, get in cars, and drive, but nothing else. Reboot the game and all was good.

2 days ago, on Saturday, I completed the mission "Father / Son" (I think that's the name, not too sure, but nevertheless, it's the 10th story mission, somewhere like that). After finishing the mission, I jumped into the see, swam to the beach and then ran to the nearest road and stole a parked Ruiner.

I paused to check the map, but the game just wouldn't load the pause screen. I unpaused and noticed that there are no peds or cars on the streets whatsoever, the textures were all very bad, the radar had no streets on it (except when zooming out, but even then badly textured) and I couldn't hear my car's engine or the radio, only environmental sounds, like tires screeching or collisions with walls. I tried to pause the game once again in the meantime, but with no better results than the first try. After around 10 seconds of this, my PS3 froze.

I couldn't go back to the XMB, and after trying to manually turn the PS3 off and seeing that the green lamp has been blinking for 5 minutes with no result, I was forced to turn it off using the power switch on the back.

After all this, my PS3 can't read any game or disc anymore. The blue lamp works, so my PS3 does recognize that there's a disc inside, but the icon of the game or disc just won't show up on the XMB. It's probably a software issue. I've tried one technique, but it didn't help. I took it to get it serviced, we'll see what happens. Hopefully, I won't lose all my data.

Good luck with your problems and issues, y'all!

I am having problems with the internet in the game:

Whenever I try to use the internet the game forces me off it in about 2 seconds.

Then the map disappears and I can no longer switch characters.

The phone becomes almost unusable as I am able to bring it up but unable to click icons.

Also because of this glitch I have to reload my savegame whenever it happens because the game will freeze on certain missions.

I'm not sure why it happens.

Apparently it's got something to do with replaying the mission and bringing the phone up.

Rockstar says that the only workaround is to load another savegame but unfortunately I don't have any other ones so I have to wait for a patch or start a new game.

Even though I'm not sure whether this is a bugged save or a bugged game.

My only problem so far are a few white lines (borderlines) between different texture/surface elements in some areas of the game. It´s like a very small gap between two polygon elements where i can see the edge of one of them. Besides of that and the "normal“ flickering, the game runs very smooth on my PS3 (slim/toploader)

I wouldn´t call this a major problem, so i chose other problems in the vote box.

i'm playing it on my ps3 and everything runs smoothly. the only issue i'm having is my special ability stopped leveling up. it's pretty minor as you can still play just fine without having them maxed, but as i'm trying to be a completionist it's really pissing me off.

Well IGN has finally given the issues some much needed press.

http://m.ca.ign.com/articles/2013/09/23/grand-theft-auto-v-reportedly-crashing-old-xbox-360s

This has been happening on the PS3 as well. The regular slims seem to fare better than the super slims and old fats for some reason though (at least in my observation from what I've been reading).

I can play 20-30min tops before the game freezes. I have taken the entire game off the HD and cleared the cache and reinstalled and it still happens. I'm running on a launch 360 but every other game I've ever played runs just fine.

I'm annoyed at the amount of sites misquoting me now. Kotaku updated their article but still makes no mention of these issues happening on the PS3, and only made a minor adjustment to include my 250GB Slim.

"A number of possible solutions are being thrown about, though it doesn't seem that any have been proven to work. One that's meant to have a fairly high success rate.. snip"

It worked for me and two other people. One of which it only lasted for thirty minutes. Fairly high success rate, three people? Ha.

At this point, R* has to know that this is a issue, the worst part is...there too busy rolling around in the mountain of money to release a patch to fix it. Causing me to Sell my copy of GTA 5 as after a week of not being able to play it.

Having trouble with the mission "Crystal Maze." I beat it with no problems my first time around, but I wanted to try it again and get a higher score. So I start the mission over from the 'replay mission' menu. The problem is that now Trevor won't fire any of his guns except the sniper rifle. I can select the other weapons from my inventory, but none of them fire. When I press RT, he will aim the gun but won't shoot. It goes back to normal if I quit the mission and revert back to my other save. So it's not the worst problem in the world, but still annoying. I'm on Xbox.

Patches don't appear over night you know. Go learn a little about game development (hell, just go learn about actions and consequences). It's not as simple as you seem to think.

Quick question - when you sold it, did you tell the person you sold it to that it didn't work?

edit - if you have a look at the GTA V support site, you'll see that they're working towards fixes for a lot of the bugs out there.

First off, I don't expect a patch over night....if a game takes 5 years to make, a patch will also take some time. However, I do believe that R* should make a statement acknowledging this issue that so many fans/consumers are having and that they are working on a fix. I sold my copy as it wont work on my 2006 xbox 360. He is playing it with no issues on his 2010 xbox 360.
