How many people are having major problems with GTA V?

trevors weapon wheel is missing the sticky bombs, can't do mission where i have to plant them on the caravans

This game has been running great for me, only one issue. WCTR is missing, which I made a thread about.

Freezes at random (usually 5-25 minutes into playing). No slowdowns, pop-ins, or stutter.

 

So far I've tried

-Install disc on HDD

-Install disc on USB

-Install on HDD/Play on USB (Noticeable increase on performance though)

-Install on USB/Play on HDD

-Format of HDD

-Clearing System Cache

-Cleaning out console

 

It may just be my 360, but then it seems odd that it plays every other game I've tried with no problems. Planning on heading to a friend's house to see if it's the disc or the system.

minor problem kinda but annoying as hell, i can put cars in my garage, but i can not take them out, only option i have is the social club car and that car isnt even in my garage =\

I have yet to run into any major problems. The only thing I could not do is take a picture with my phone. Could be my issue though. I was trying to take a picture with the phone in the game and the only icon I found was the camera icon on the bottom left and it said something about not being able to get information. All I wanted to do is take a picture, not upload anything.

1. Don't think this is a PS3 controller prob as I tried 3 but in a middle of a fight phone keeps popping up (taking away my weapons f***k!) - I make sure not to touch the direction button only the L to move but it keeps doing it, there is a kind of conflict here - btw didn't do that in RDR - same thing happens sometimes driving a car it changes radio channel without touching direction button...

2. Garage in Michael safe house doesn't seem to be sure, I tuned a car with a lot of extras, put it there and it disappeared!

3. On reloading a mission one of Trevor weapon disappeared, if I reload the game it's there.

 

Having the controller issues myself... I've tried two controllers personally.

 

First one, while driving, the character would just jump out of the car at random spots... One time I recall specifically was when I was doing a chase and the upper left hand corner of the screen explicitly told me to "hit L3 and R3" to use someone's special ability... I do it, guy jumps out of the car, mission failed.

 

Second controller, the phone pops up from time to time and the radio stations change at random, as you stated. Another issue I have had is weapons popping up in my hands when I don't want them to, such as when I'm just driving, or when I was playing fetch with Chop... I throw the ball and out of nowhere, a shotgun shows up in my hand... Unless that's the GTA method of training your dog, something's not right...

 

I'll admit, my controllers are relatively old, but I take care of them well and I've never really had any issues of any kind while using them, certainly not to this extent. I'm debating uninstalling/reinstalling to solve the problem, just to see if it works...

 

Other than that, found a couple other minor issues while playing:

 

1: Once, when going to Franklin's garage, there were two of his car in there, one stacked on top of the other... Climbed in the lower one, backed out and it was fine, but funny.

 

2: Using Michael, I went into his house and saw his wife in the kitchen, floating in mid air. Went into the living room and his daughter was standing on the couch. Went up to his bedroom, saved the game and came back down, daughter was seated and wife was on the ground, though she still wouldn't interact or even face me.

 

That kinda stuff, I can live with... Could probably live with the phone and radio thing too, but it's annoying and distracting, especially in the middle of a mission. Any help on solving this would be greatly appreciated.

Do you possibly have some other blutooth/IR devices that might be messing up your signal of your controllers? I forgot exactly which tech the ps3 uses but maybe there is something conflicting with your controllers to make those unexpected button presses that you are not doing.

this is america, fa**ot. when you buy a product, you just kinda assume that it works. i understand if i couldn't play beause i had a cracked version, but this is a physical copy directy from the company. this is not $265 million dollars worth of game. unacceptable. maybe if they didn't waste most of that money on viral marketing, they'd have a decent game.

This is EXACTLY what is going on with mine. I even went back to the store and got them to give me a new copy for the other one. It still freezes after playing for 25 mins or less.

First off, I'm not American. Your use of the word fa**ot tells me that you obviously are a perfectly well adjusted American though, congratulations on that as well.

 

I more meant its a very small minority that are having problems. Considering its a Triple A launch, I think it's actually doing quite well. The sh*t will hit the fan when GTAO launches, but that's another story.

 

So another round of congratulations are in order for missing the point of what I said. You're on a roll buddy.

Try deleting the game date in the game date utility (NOT save data utility). This will not delete your saves, but this will unistall the game. Reinstall and try playing again. If that doesn't work:

 

1) Uninstall the game again and rebuild the file system / database. Do NOT, and I repeat, do not do a system restore because that will reset the PS3 to its settings when you first bought it = everything will be erased.

 

2) After you restore the file system or rebuild the databases should correct any corrupted files. It should be noted that this process, which may only take a few minutes at best, could take 6 - 10+ hours if significant anomalies are detected. My PS3 took forever to rebuild the databases when I tried playing Skyrim again (patched).

 

3) Reinstall, and everything should be ok. If not, then the glitches might just be R*'s problem, not yours. There are some people with new PS3's that can't even play the game, so it might not be your console.

 

Before you do anything, back up your saves on a flash drive (should use FAT 32, not NTFS) just in case!

Just been having problems with the game reseting itself at certain spots around vinewood.

On the PS3 my game suddenly stops working properly. I can usually still move around but I can no longer progress in my quest or the cutscene stops responding but it hasn't really froze. Sometimes certain elements will freeze or the texture will just no longer load for certain object. This all just started happening. My concern is my PS3 is dying it is an 80 gig fatty from 2008. That or its an issue with my save fiel as the problems only started like today and were not present yesterday. Any thoughts?

i have the latest X-Box 360 (only 3 weeks old) and so far (touch wood) ive had no issues at all, game installed fine, gfx were not as crisp as i thought they would be but they are still really good, did Franklins 1st repo mission with Lamar then spent 5 hours driving round on a motorbike exploring the city, game was smooth had no popins or glitches, game has been perfect for me...........so far!

Poker2012chu, thank you so much! Deleting all game data and then reinstalling has not only made my game actually work has fixed the vid lag problems as well.

Same could be said for my 2 year old 160 GB PS3 (knock on wood), although I've had a few minor glitches. It seems like that there are more issues with the older consoles than the newer ones, but that doesn't mean there haven't been major issues on those newere ones too. I wish the best for everyone who has more serious issues.

I had one texture issue last night. It was REAL bad. All I did was pause the game for about 30 seconds and it went away. I figured if I let the game load itself, it'll be fine.

Mine keeps freezing. I have to shut the entire console (360) down. I'm lucky to make it through a mission. It lasts longer when in the country than in the city, FWIW.

 

I assume the console can't keep up, but who knows.

I hope things have improved for you. Unfortunately, it seems like the older fat models have been having way more issues than the slims. If it can't play even after dusting, reapplying thermal paste, rebuilding databases, etc., then it may be time for a new PS3. If that's the case, and if you can afford it, then I would probably buy a new one (back up your saves first on a partitioned FAT 32 flash drive). Does anyone else have any other tips?

This game has ERASED MY THUMB DRIVE TWICE now and I've reinstalled it 3-4 times. It's literally unplayable, luckily I saved to the cloud because I knew this would happen again.

 

Rockstar needs to fix this. NOW.

It's really getting on my nerves, apart from that I am enjoying the game. I've noticed some graphical issues in the game too. I just don't know what to do.
